a. Section 11 – Crawler
Survey the machine centre lines
Lay out the crawler chains, connect them and secure the pins by welding keeper plates
Arrange temporary supports and position the crawler structures on to the chain and
temporary supports.
Align the main parts of the crawler steered structures for welding.
Survey checks during welding are recommended.
Install the drive tumblers
Verify and mark up the centre line and the radius on the undercarriage structure. Set up
the mobile equipment for site milling of the Ball Race surface.
pictures: surface milling machine with temporary supports and machining of surface
Do the surface milling, (be aware to have stable temperature conditions to avoid offsets
during milling)
As soon as the milling surface is confirmed within the tolerances, the bore holes shall get
marked up, finally the drilling of the bolt holes to be done.
Safety note: temporary handrails and/ or life lines are recommended on the portal for
milling and drilling, as well as during the ball race assembly
pictures: alignment ball race frame, ball race preparedon Portal for Slew deck assembly
the mobile equipment for site milling of the Ball Race surface.
Note: the Slew deck is to be turned due to site machining
Put the Pylon main structures on to temporary supports and align them for welding.

No Load Testing
After finishing of the functional testing the no load test will start by running the
equipment first in single steps and continue by sequencing the start and stop to
check all system for operational function without material.
Load Testing
To adjust all field devices , rubber lining in chutes etc. and check all parameters
under load condition the load tests will be carried out in the same way as the no load

commissioning:
(a) Remove all rust preventatives, oil and grease used to preserve equipment during
construction.
(b) Clean up area - remove and properly dispose of debris to a Company designated
area from floors and platforms, remove tools and extraneous materials which could
impede operation or constitute a safety hazard.
Pre-Commissioning
Pre-commissioning involves all checks and tests prior to energising the MV supply to the
machine.
The Construction-Contractor will ensure that all items of equipment have been correctly
assembled and shall check all tolerances, fits and alignments and make all adjustments
necessary to ensure the correct operation of the machine.
All pipe work and equipment will be flushed clean before connection and use. Lubrication

commissioning checks and activities specified herein and the satisfactory resolvement
of the punch list items specified herein, a further joint inspection will be made by
Contractor and the Construction-Contractor.
The work shall be deemed to be complete when all punch list items including those
listed during performance of the tests listed herein have been satisfactorily resolved
with Contractor representative.
It shall be noted that the depletion of punch list items does not necessarily provide
grounds for issue of the Certificate of Practical Completion.
COMMISSIONING
General
As soon as electrical installation is completed and tested as well mechanically ready for
testing and the Power is given to the main station testing of the equipment will start according
a testing programme developed prior to start and accepted by the Employer.
Tests will be carried for each line separately whereby for single testing groups may be
considered to test at the same time such us multiple conveyors in bridges.
Generally sequences:
Load programme to the computers
IO-Check of each single unit and device
Check emergency stops
Check turn of motor
Check all safety devices and control devices for function
Check all other equipment located in the towers
Check all Equipment related to Firefighting system, vacuum system, lightening
system,cranes
Start up on conveyor by one for alignment
RESPONSIBILITIES
The commissioning will include checking the operation of each item of equipment - no-load
commissioning, load commissioning and performance testing.
Contractor will submit a commissioning manual detailing the sequence and operation of all
commissioning and testing work and procedures necessary to complete the Works. The
manual will be submitted at least three weeks prior to the commencement of commissioning.
The Construction-Contractor will maintain a diary of all events during commissioning and
record all test results. On the completion of commissioning, Contractor shall prepare a report
recording the commissioning of the machine.
The Employer operators will be participate and active on performance as part of the training
programm for machine operation during no-load commissioning, load commissioning and
performance testing under the supervision of Contractor.
The Construction-Contractor will be responsible for lubrication of all equipment before and
during pre-commissioning and no-load commissioning.
NO-LOAD COMMISSIONING
No-load commissioning involves all checks and tests after the power supply to the machine
has been energised and prior to load commissioning with materials.
When the above procedures have been completed for each drive and function, the procedure
will be repeated in Local-Manual, Local-Auto and Remote modes, in co-operation with the
Contractor, including proving of all communications, interlocking, alarming and commands in
conjunction with the land-based systems provided by others.
The Construction-Contractor has to check the operation of all drives and machine functions
in all modes and methods of operation for noise, temperature rise and speeds, check the
lubrication and hydraulic systems, test all mechanical devices such as relief valve settings
and machine acceleration and deceleration, with and without brakes, and check the machine
for both directions of long travel operation. The Construction-Contractor has to certify that the
relief valve settings and machine acceleration and deceleration, with and without brakes, are
set within the design requirements of the machine.
Load Commissioning will not commence until all PLC programming and adjustments have
been carried out and all machine protection devices such as relief valves, limit switches and
the like have been set to the values described in the commissioning manual. Contractor will
remove all bridges before load commissioning commences.
REPORTING
All testing necessary to safely commission and prove the machine performance will be
reported on Contractor's inspection/test report forms.
A separate report, suitably numbered, will be compiled for each machine which will include
the inspection/test reports for each item of equipment. The data section of the report will
record actual as-tested machine performance, not manufacturer's specifications.
