LISTENING SECTION
In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken
English. There are 4 parts to this section, with special directions for each part.

Part I. Pictures
Questions: 1 to 3.
Directions:
For each item, there is a picture in your test book and four short statements about it on the tape.
These statements will be spoken twice, and do NOT WRITTEN out in your test book, so you
must listen carefully. You must choose one statement – (A), (B), (C), or (D) – that best describes
the picture. Then, on your answer sheet, mark your choice.
Example:

Look at the picture now listen to the following statements.

answer to each question. And mark it on your answer sheet.

After completing my studies, I had a hard time finding a job. I didn't want to sit around at
home, so I took a position with a Temp-Company. They were able to find me a job quickly
in a prestigious bank. I worked as an Assistant to the CEO.

I came in at about 10am on the first day (was at the Temp-Company before, getting all
my papers signed) and my boss welcomed me with open arms. He shook my hand,
introduced me to my colleague and the other CEO. He showed me where my desk was
and told me that my colleague would help me get started. She was very helpful and I sat

At lunch my boss and the other CEO invited me to lunch. I was so nervous, I could hardly

showed me where the kitchen was, how the coffee machine worked, where the copy
machine was, all that good stuff.

My colleague left at 3pm, so I had some time to myself to figure out the new computer
system and just look around. My day ended at 5.30pm.

little money left and he was very hungry. He decided to ask for some food at the next house
he visited. However he was so nervous when a lovely young woman opened the door. He
only asked for a glass of water. The woman thought that the boy was hungry so she gave him
a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked. “How much do owe you?”. “You
don’t owe me anything,” she replied, “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a
kindness.” He said, “Then u thank you from my heart.” As the poor boy left that house, he
felt stronger. His faith in God was getting stronger too. He had been ready to stop his study
but now he got a spirit to continue it until he became a doctor.
       Some years later that young woman became critically ill. She was sent to the big city to
cure her disease. The poor boy was the doctor. When he knew the name of the town she came
from. he went to meet her. He recognized her at once. He tried hard to save the woman’s life.
From then on he gave special attention to the sick woman. After a long struggle, the woman
could be cured. The poor boy paid all the bill. He wrote “Paid in full with one glass of milk”
under the bill. When the woman opened it, tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart
prayed,” thank you God, that your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands.
