Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Painting

This hazard identification and risk assessment worksheet identifies hazards associated with painting activities. The primary hazard is exposure to toxic paints which can cause inhalation, skin absorption, injection of harmful chemicals, asphyxiation, intoxication and acute or chronic health complaints. Controls to mitigate these risks include use of proper respiratory equipment, safety gear, hygiene facilities and work practices like prohibiting eating or smoking in painting areas. The initial risk level for toxic exposure was moderate but is reduced to low with these controls.
