B. Technical Information
1. Rationale:
As a new LSA farm site, PCA lacks classroom facilities and sufficient areas to stage
demonstrations and learning activities. PCA desires to build a covered all-weather
classroom facility with storage for learning displays (drip irrigation, mushroom
growing preparation/sterilization, organic growing techniques, etc.)
PCA Dragon Fruit Farm is a family-ventured agricultural business farm which
focuses on production of organically-grown dragon fruit since the family found it as
a profitable enterprise and a promising means to increase the income of farmers in
the municipality.
The farm have been using organic fertilizers and pesticides to the dragon fruit plant
and installed drip irrigation for effective and efficient irrigation and fertigation.
Processing of dragon fruit into dragon fruit shakes, dragon fruit ice cream and other
value-adding activities is the top priority of the family for additional source of
income especially when the there is surplus of harvest.

Also, establishment of organic goat production, mushroom production will be the
two of the many plans for the improvement in the farm.
With these agricultural technologies employ in PCA Dragon Fruit Farm which worth
emulating for other farmers, PCA Dragon Fruit farm is requesting fund for the Construction
of MULTI-PURPOSE TRAINING FACILITY. The facility will serve as stage for demonstration
activities and display of learning modules and others.
2. Objectives:
Provide learning space with seating, permanent static displays, and hands on
activity stations. Lighting, water, and power will be installed in the building for
use during instruction phases.
Provide storage area for teaching supplies and displays when not in use.
Provide bathroom facilities for visitors.
Allows the presenter and farmer/participants ample space to train
Provide Alternate venue for the Trainings to be conducted by the LGU Matanao,
ATI and other agencies.
3. Activities:
A. DRAGON FRUIT PRODUCTION AND MANAGEMENT AS WELL AS PROCESSING
Dragon fruit planting and care;
Determining Dragon fruit pests and diseases and its management.
Homemade preservation of dragon fruit like jams, syrup, etc
Dragon fruit shake and ice cream processing;
B. DRIP IRRIGATION
Demonstration of installing drip irrigation and fertigation system;
Hydroponics and Aquaponics in backyard gardening
C. ORGANIC FERTILZERS
Making of organic fertilizers out from the yard and plant waste ;
Teaching and Demonstration of Vermicast and Concoction productions
D. OTHER ACTIVITIES
Teaching mushroom growing at home
Introducing vertical gardening for small spaces or urban areas.
Introducing Bees as pollinators and help in high yield productions in coconuts
and other crops.
