Mythology and

Folklore
Folklore is a collection of fictional tales about people or animals, whereas
myth contains at its core the beginnings of a people and is often sacrosanct. In
folklore, superstitions and irrational beliefs play a significant role. Both mythology
and folklore were first passed down orally.

Folktales depict how the protagonist deals with everyday circumstances,

and the story may include a crisis or conflict. These stories may teach people how
to cope with life (or death), and they also contain universal elements across
civilizations. Folkloristics is the scientific study of folklore.

People have passed down valuable stories from generation to generation

since prehistoric times. Despite the fact that societies have diverged substantially
throughout history, many of these oral traditions have remained consistent. In
example, did you know that most of the gods from Greek mythology had Roman
counterparts, as well as remarkable similarities in their stories?

These stories were written down as time passed from prehistory (before
writing) to history (the written age) so that others could learn from and appreciate
them. All of these stories—myths, legends, folktales, and fairy tales—serve a
specific function in world literature.

People have gathered around fireplaces from the dawn of time to tell tales
of wrathful gods, perilous travels, cunning animals, terrifying beasts, and the
heroic heroes who defeated them. For thousands of years, mythology and folklore
have helped humanity make sense of the world by bringing these colorful stories
to life. Examine how these enthralling tales continue to influence society today.

1. The mythical story that is famous in my time, especially in the province, is the

“Tikbalang”. This story keeps roaming until today's generation. Before, parents used

“Tikbalang” as a threat to those children who didn’t sleep every afternoon. And until

now everytime it’s raining on a sunny day, people think that Tikbalang is having a

wedding.

2. Mythical story reflects the Filipino culture in the community in the means of

disciplining their children in the way that they use this different creature to scare their

child. And still continuing to continue the league of the story about these creatures,

even how many years had passed this story never ends. Believing that it’s not just

humans who're living in this world.

“Mananaggal”. According to my Mom, Manananggal shows up their

appearance every middle of the night. Their body was cut in a half and they

have wings at the back which helps them to fly. And there is a saying also,

that their common victims are those young people.

2. With this it reflects that everyone should be careful because we can’t

determine when the danger will happen. All we can do is to ready and alert

every time. Stay alert and open all your senses especially when you are

outside the house.

is a powerful kind of poison and thing where it can true in a true way. Saying words

that may hurt other people and wanting them to turn that victim of them into a thing

that they want. And from what I also remember, the curse was given by a witch and

there’s a certain ritual on that.

2. It reflects that word is powerful once you spoken it. It just reflect what kind of people

are you and how the people around you look like. So, before we utter a word we must

think if it’s appropiate in a situation or thw words you will say.

Individuals involved folklore to interface the past, present, and future in a quite

certain structure, as it was an age patrimony, legends were given over to leave an

encounter, information put away, values stuck and social legacy for people in the

future.

To comprehend the social cycles of the previous history specialists frequently

focus on folklore as an essential course of social personality creation. Of late,

fantasies are viewed as a vital part of the previous, a piece of verifiable memory,

aggregate recognition, and blankness that impact the following ages' future. Legends

ought to be tended to before, however give expect what's to come.
