I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson,the students will be able to:
a) Define adverb;
b) Classify the diff erent kinds of adverbs; and
c) Construct sentences using adverb.

The teacher will ask the class have learned yesterday:

B. Motivation
Activity: Picture Puzzle
Directions: The students will be divided into five [Link] group will be given a
puzzle which the students must arrange in the correct order to unlock the image. After
completing the puzzle, the students will post it on the blackboard.
The teacher will ask the following questions:

Verbs is an action word.

An adverb is a word or an expression that generally modifies a verb, adjective or another
adverb.
Example: Lisa eats slowly.
Kobe Paras is very tall.
The dog wiggles its tail cheerfully.
Adjective is a word that generally modifies a noun or noun phrase or describes its referent.
Example: The students in Caloocan High School is respectful.
My boyfriend is very handsome.
Jeffrey Dahmer is a scary person.
Guide Questions:

2. How is the action done in the sentences?
The students will identify the adverbs in the sentences.
1. Criseda speaks loudly.
2. He is very hungry.
3. My dog loves to play outside.
4. She regularly exercise.
5. I rarely go to church.
The teacher will discuss the Different Kinds of Adverbs.
Adverbs of manner are used to tell the way in which something happens. They mainly
modify verbs and are formed by adding –ly to their equivalent adjectives. However, there are
adverbs of manner which do not end in –ly such as fast, hard, straight, and well.
It answer the question how is the action is done?
Example:
1.“What number are you calling, Madam?” the operator asked patiently.

Adverbs of degree modify verbs, adjectives or other adverbs by showing the intensity or
extent. Some examples are almost, completely, enough, extremely, just, nearly, quite,
completely, too, very.
Example:

Adverbs of place
tell where something happens such as above, everywhere, here, nowhere, and there. They
modify verbs in the sentence.
Example:

Adverbs of time identify when the verb took place. Examples of these are: now, nowadays,
yesterday, monthly, and lately.

Adverbs of frequency explain how often the verb occurs. They are placed right before the
main verb in the sentence that they modify. For example, usually, never, oftentimes,
repeatedly, and constantly
Example:

best way to prevent contagion due to the virus.

Directions:The students will pick an adverb in the box. The teacher will ask them to
construct their own sentence using the adverb they have picked. After 2 minutes, the
teacher will pick 10 students randomly from the flashcard to recite their constructed
sentences together with the rest of the students who will go in front and read aloud the
adverb that they have picked, put it in the right envelop on what kind of adverb they have
picked and explain their answer.
