Design:
Grit washer consisting of the following main component:
Sand washing tank: folded octagonal stainless steel tank, consisting of the conical-shaped
washing tank, tank substructure and trough housing of discharge conveyor. A motor console is
installed on the washing tank to accommodate the agitator drive.
A hinged lid enables easy access for maintenance work. The lid is locked by turnbuckles during
operation and is held in place by an arrestor hook when in opening position.
An inlet connection with a loose flange (DN 150, welded tangentially to the tank with a water
guiding plate) and an outlet connection with a loose flange (DN 150, welded laterally to the tank
with an overflow) are installed at the washing tank.
To avoid concentration of organics and/or silt (fine sand) in the treatment process of the plant,
the outlet of the sand washer is to be guided to the plant water flow downstream of the plant grit
chamber.
The infeed of the discharge conveyor is located at the bottom part of the washing tank.
The washing tank can be aligned accurately with height-adjustable (+/- 25 mm) support feet
made of sectional steel mounted at the sides of the tank substructure.
Agitator: located in the centre of the washing tank, consisting of a stable shaft with welded-on
agitator arms. Agitator arms in the lower area made of wear-resistant Hardox, in the upper area
made of round stainless steel bars. The highest agitator arm with replaceable rubber blade for
safe removal of floating organics. To absorb operational axial and radial loads, the agitator shaft
in the motor console is guided in roller bearings.

Load monitor of agitator: a motor load control (digitally adjustable) records the torque of the
agitator and activates the discharge conveyor. Should the control unit be provided by
customer, it is necessary to integrate the load monitor offered as an option.
Wash water injection system: the water injection is connected to the flushing system via hose
pipes and/or piping. The flushing system comprises all necessary fittings such as solenoid
valve, stop/throttle valve, dirt trap, mechanical flow meter, pressure reducer and Geka
coupling ¾“.
Sand discharge conveyor: infeed area of the spiral conveyor is welded laterally to the washing
tank and thus in an integral part of the washing tank. The spiral of the conveyor (Special carbon
steel, Aqseptence Group standard) runs in a closed stainless steel trough and is connected to
the conveyor drive by a coupling segment. The sand discharge connection is welded to the

Design:
Infeedzone for receiving the screenings. This is modularly designed.
Feeding hopper, adapted to the discharge of the upstream unit
Machine components with the feeding zone, assembled from the main body and module (if
necessary), the washing and pressing zone, the dewatering zone and the flange connections for
the feeding hopper, drive motor and friction pipe bends.
Drainage zone FF: The drainage bottom is designed as a slotted bottom with flat bars (F) for
safe washing water drainage and extends over the entire length of the base body. This ensures
that substances separated by the screening device do not re-enter the water path of the
treatment plant with the press water. The design of the slotted bottom (arrangement of the flat
profile alternating between flat and upright) results in a self-cleaning effect in addition to the
increased drainage capacity, so the Screening Wash Press does not require any brushes or
wear strips.
