1. Introduction:
1.1 Background of the study:
East West University is a very well reputed and one of the leading universities of
Bangladesh. This university doesn't have hostel facilities. As a result, students who
come from other areas to study here face various problems. A hostel provides a
dedicated and reserved space for each student. A dedicated room boost student’s
self-confidence to do their own work. But unfortunately, we don't have that
opportunity, and the surprising thing is very few groups or researchers has done
research on this problem. That is why we choose this topic and we think that, if we
work on this thing and if the university authority takes it into accounts many students
will get benefit.
1.2 Research problem:
The study investigated the impact of hostel life for students. Research on this subject
and especially in this region is still very rare in East West University. The study will
help teachers and students understand the importance of hostel life. As well as it will
also help the university with an idea of how to get out of this problem. Moreover,
the result will help to improve the entire education system.

1.3 Research Objective:
East west university is a renewed private university located in Dhaka city. Many
students come here to do their undergraduate from different places of Bangladesh.
Majority of the students are from outside off Dhaka. But our university does not
provide hostel facilities. As a result, many students struggle to find accommodation
in Dhaka. We will do research on the problems the students face in search of safe
accommodation. We will collect information or experience of the students through
google form and we will discuss about those problems further on.
1.4 Significance of the study:
Ours university does not have hostel facilities and as a result many students struggles
to find safe accommodation in Dhaka. We will be doing research on what types of
problems a student faces in need of an accommodation. Hope that our research will
make a difference and caught the eye of the authorities and so that they can take
necessary steps. A hostel in our campus will help many students specially those who
are from outside of Dhaka. It will save them money and will give them more security.

2. Methodology:
2.1 Participants and site:
✓ We asked a few questions to many students of East West University
know how much hostels are required for the students.
✓ Although we have asked many students about this but students of BBA,
CSE and English department responded the most.
2.2 Instrument: We have asked questions about this accommodation problem
and some questions are given below.

2.3 Data collection:
To get enough facts, we asked many students studying in East-West
University about accommodation problem. Although we can’t take
information from all the students due to a large number of students are
studying in this University. we are keeping our opinion by taking information
from a few numbers of students. Although we get information from many, we
are only mentioning two students and one faculty because it is complicated to
mention everyone.
2.4 Data analysis:
By gathering information, we can understand that most of the students are
suffering from accommodation problem. Those who came from outside of
Dhaka City and staying in Dhaka for study purpose are suffering the most.
3. Findings:
Our survey on hostel facilities got many responses. 92% responses were from our
university students. About 96% responders thinks that it is very difficult for a student
to find a save accommodation who is from outside of Dhaka. We have asked a
question in our survey that says what kind of problem does a student face while
searching for an accommodation. Many responders answered different things but
majority said the biggest problems they face are financial problem, security,
accessibility, secured environment, bachelor problem and high rents. 100%
responders think it is important that every student should get hostel facilities from
their university. Many of them responded why it is important and majority said

because of security purpose and affordability. If east west university have hostel
facility in future it will be benefited for many but few of the responders thinks it is
best if the authorities don’t provide hostel facilities because it will a big step and
maintenance will be hard for the authorities. About 30% student thinks they will get
benefited if East West University provide hostel facilities. 60% responders think it
will be more benefited for girls because they will get proper security. 96%
responders think hostel plays an important role in increasing cultural diversity
among students. From our survey we have learn that majority supports the idea of
East West University having hostel facilities.
4. Scopes and Limitations:
The following information was not at all simple to gather. We ran across a lot of
difficulties when gathering this data. We weren't able to precisely gather data from
each university student. Students struggled to appropriately articulate their ideas.
Collecting information through technology has made us suffer also.
The university authorities should insist on resolving the difficulties indicated in
order to escape the ones mentioned above. On campus, there should be hostel
facilities for students. By addressing these issues, university enrolment may rise.

5. Conclusion:
Almost every student has to suffer due to these accommodation problems of the
university. Solving all the problems will be of great benefit to the students. Every
student wants to be benefited from the university. Those problems can affect
students’ education. We request the authorities to resolve the mentioned issues as
soon as possible.
