RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE

Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte was born in 1945 in the southern Philippines. His
mother was a teacher and his father, a public official, later entered politics and
became the governor of Davao. He built his reputation fighting some of the
biggest problems in the Philippines such as crime, drugs, militancy, and
corruption during his 22-year term as Davao city mayor.

One of his qualities which could influence and can be imitated by the
Filipino mankind or nation is being a strong leader with a strong vision. Being
open about the fact that he was undisciplined during his youth, he still has his
mantra of developing Davao and the whole nation. And if necessary, he will
impose martial law to establish discipline.

He also possessed word of honor. Duterte had been able to deliver his
promises to bring real change and give Filipinos a comfortable life. This was
obvious as he implements various programs and policies for the betterment of
the country. He was also very determined about solving the drug crisis in the
Philippines. He was quick to impose policies that apprehended drug dealers and
users, keeping them away from the streets as fast as possible.

Under his decree and the promise to create a safer country, authorities
quickly joined the mission by taking suspects into custody as fast as possible. His
autocratic personality required police and military personnel to follow him
without question. It also helped that most of his cabinet members and
government officials supported him since the campaign period.
