ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
First of all, all praise and gratitude was by Allah, and with his blessings and

permission, we finally completed the task of the subject “introduction to statistics

181”. All the hours we spent on this group assignment was to find the information we

needed. It was also worthwhile to do this work because we learnt a lot and were able

to keep UiTM students informed about fast food. As a result, we would like to

express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to

the completion of this study. First and foremost, we want to thank Madam Tengku

Mardhiah Tengku Jalal, QMT181 Instructor, who has guided us since the beginning

of the project. Remember all of your friends who will take the time to assist us and

share their ideas so that we can provide high-quality reports for our cause. We also

thank our parents for providing moral support in our task. Overall, we hope that this

work fits all of the requirements.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY

Fast food is a form of mass-produced food product intended for commercial resale in
which "speed of serving" takes precedence over other aspects of culinary science. Fast food
was developed as a business strategy to meet the needs of many busy commuters, public
house patrons, and wage workers who do not have time to stay in taverns and restaurants
and wait for food. By putting speed of service and time-sensitive consumers first.
Commuters, for example, stop by for a family meal, and hourly workers take a short lunch
break. In 2018, the worldwide fast food sector was predicted to be worth $ 570 billion.

Fast food is a refreshing change from usual catering practices and standards.
Methods and criteria for the fast food catering Business have resulted in more complicated
processes and service approaches. The Fast Food Restaurant (FFR) provides flexibility and
convenience at a low cost. Their service is at a level that may satisfy consumers with varying
tastes, motivations, and requirements Nurturing.

Traditionally, fast food establishments have been distinguished by their capacity to

provide food throughout the drive-through. A fast food restaurant, often known as a quick
service restaurant, or a booth or kiosk that does not provide shelter or seating. The franchise
is the next level of a chain restaurant, with uniform groceries sent from a central location to
each site.

The fast food industry is a global enterprise that has expanded dramatically in recent
decades. Malaysia is no different. In 1961, an A&W restaurant on Jalan Tunku Abdul
Rahman in Malaysia introduced the fast food idea. Since then, numerous foreign fast food
companies have established a presence in Malaysia. FFR is produced in Malaysia like a
fungus after rain, from onions, double cheeseburgers from the ring, and pizza from fried
chicken.

An example of Fast Food that available in Malaysia are KFC, Mcdonald, Texas
chicken, Marry Brown, Edlee Fried Chicken, Burger Ramly, and A&W.

2.0 METHODOLOGY
The methodology refers to the methods or approaches we employ to achieve all of
the project's objectives and goals. The approach can make all of the research more
fascinating, systematic, and efficient in reaching the goal. The quantitative methodology was
utilized to finish our study on topic QMT181 with the title "Fast Food Meal Among Student
UiTM Machang, Kelantan."

A quantitative method is used to generate statistics for research or surveys.

Quantitative research was also conducted to gather any information or facts from present
and future persons using samples that were chosen. For example, online surveys, polls, or
questionnaires. All of the results can be explained numerically. After thoroughly
comprehending all of these figures, we can briefly explain and identify the study's aims.

We obtained all of the data for this research from an online survey that we
constructed using Google Form tools. We also use UiTM Machang students as a model.
Following that, we distribute the online survey to all 43 respondents for them to complete the
survey, which includes 9 questionnaires that they must complete. Following that, we
describe briefly all of the data in this research based on all of the questionnaire responses.

Finally, we will present statistics for all questionnaires so that we may see the most
common conduct of a student at UiTM Machang in Kelantan. As a result, we can readily
synthesize and explain all of the information.
3.0 FINDING AND ANALYSIS

Type of Gender that participated in this Questionare

According to the Pie chart above, there are 43 responses to this questionnaire,
including Male and Female UiTM students, with 88.4 percent UiTM Male students and just
11.6 percent Female UiTM students responding.

According to research done at the University of Technology MARA (UiTM), 43

students responded. Male students responded 88.4 percent of the time, whereas female
students responded 11.6 percent of the time. This could be because female students are
less numerous and unconcerned about the research being conducted. Or perhaps the male
students at UiTM Machang are more adept at organizing their time to participate in this
study.
Fast Food company do UiTM students eat most often.

FIGURE 1.1

Figure 1.1 is a Pie chart that depicts which Fast Food restaurant UiTM students
always select. According to the Pie chart, KFC is the top option among UiTM students with
51.2 percent, followed by McDonald's with 41.9 percent, and the rest, including Texas
Chicken, Marry Brown, Edlee fried chicken, and Burger rally, each with 2.3 percent.

According to our research, KFC is the most well-known Fast Food firm among UiTM
students. One of the reasons is that when we compare the prices of KFC and McDonald's,
we can see that KFC has a more reasonable price worth with their food for students if they
consume it every week, which is fantastic for students who need to be thrifty. Another factor
is that, as we all know, KFC branches have been in Malaysia for a long time and are more
established than other franchises. For other Fast Food firms, it could be because they are
still new and odd for Malaysian students to consume, or it could be because their food prices
are too high for students' budgets.
Reason UiTM students chose one of the Fast Food company

The primary reason they select Fast Food is depicted in the pie chart above. As we
can see, many of them cite taste as their primary motivator for choosing that fast food,
accounting for 48% of the total. Additionally, the fast food chain they select offers a range of
dishes for 17 percent. Other than that, they claim the cost of the food they eat is less
expensive. the same percentage as the reason it's closest with 10%, followed by a reason
that it's nostalgic or that it can bring back childhood memories.

We can infer from this that the primary factor influencing their preference for one of
the fast food chains is that it is delicious. We can see that the food's flavor is crucial and our
top priority when it comes to eating. People will select foods that are delicious and
acceptable for them, which will then make them happy. It doesn't matter how the cuisine is
presented or how upscale it appears to be. People will also like it if a fast food restaurant
offers a wide selection of meals at competitive prices. In addition, people like eating at fast
food restaurants when they are close by because it saves them time and the food can
remind them of their youth.
Frequency people eaten fast food

Figure 1.3

The frequency of fast food consumption among UiTM Kelantan students is depicted
in the pie chart above. Monthly responses account for the majority of them, with a rate of
58.1 percent. Most students claim that because they get PTPTN loan funds, they are able to
eat fast food once a month. In seconds, the proportion of 16.3 every two weeks is a little
lower than the monthly percentage. Only 11.6% of students order fast food twice a year.
Because eating fast food only once a week is too pricey, it is done weekly at a 14 percent
rate.

The pie chart displays the monthly fast food orders made by UiTM Kelantan
students. The Machang campus of UiTM Kelantan is particularly far from the city, making it
challenging for students to get quick meals. Students are forced to eat fast food on a regular
basis because ordering food online has a high delivery fee. Fast food is expensive to
purchase and consume frequently.
Item mostly purchase in fast food meal menu

Figure 1.4

The percentage of menu items most frequently selected by students from UiTM
Kelantan is displayed in the column chart above. Due to the variety of alternatives available
in chicken sets, 58.1 percent of students chose this option as their menu of choice. For
instance, the Pepsi and loaded potato options in the Chicken Set Menu may entice students
to purchase it. Burger set, which has a percentage of 53.5%, is the second menu that
students want to order from. Burger sets are affordable, versatile, and mouthwatering. in the
center of what is arguably the most famous cuisine in the world.

Third, since 14% of the menu is made up of rice, it is a favorite with students. Beed
Coney set the lower menu that students order with a percentage of 1 percent, but other
menu items like Mcflurry, Americano Ice, and largely their porridge have the same
percentage of 2.3 percent. Chicken sets are the most popular among UiTM Kelantan
students, whereas Beed Coney sets are becoming less popular.
Method people use to eat fast food meal

Figure 1.5

The percentage of UiTM Kelantan students who opt to eat fast food is depicted in the
bar graph above. Dine-in has the highest usage rate among students, at 48.8%. This is due
to the fact that students can socialize with their classmates and complete schoolwork while
waiting for food to be served or eating. Students frequently study in restaurants since they
are pressed for time to finish their assignments. A pickup with a 25.6 percent percentage
makes up the second method. Students frequently take up that since they enjoy relaxing in a
public park or on the beach. After all, they like to dine while admiring the breathtaking
environment. Food delivery is another alternative, with a proportion of 25.6 percent. Students
choose this strategy because they lack access to transportation and because they are
constantly busy.

The most popular way for students to eat fast food is now to dine in. Methods for food
pickup and delivery have the same percentage (25.6%).
Method people use to pay for meal

Figure 1.6

The technique used by UiTM Kelantan students to pay for meals is depicted in the
pie chart above. 65 percent of students pay for meals with cash since it is simple to use and
most students pay for their purchases with cash. The second most popular method used by
students is debit or credit cards since using a credit card makes it simpler to prevent fraud
losses. The cash leaves your account as soon as a criminal uses your debit card. Students
use online transfers less frequently (7%) due to the difficulty of using them when there is no
internet access and the fact that they would rather pay in cash.

Students are increasingly using cash as their primary form of fast food payment, with
debit or credit cards coming in second. Students from UiTM Kelantan are using online
transfers less and less.

Figure 1.7
According to the figure, several UiTM Machang sample students experience
difficulties when placing fast food orders. The majority of them frequently have order issues
and must wait in line when placing online or in-store orders for fast food. 15 kids out of the
43 who responded felt they have to wait too long for lunch. The expertise of the fast food
branch's workers may be the cause of the issue. The other 15 students claimed that when
ordering through an online form, they consistently receive erroneous items. For instance,
when they ordered two pieces of spicy chicken, they received only one piece of food that
wasn't spicy enough for two pieces. The issue that the majority of students must deal with is
whether to eat in or place an online order.

The internet connection is the easiest issue. Only two respondents claimed to
experience network connectivity issues when ordering food. Perhaps where they stay is the
contributing element. The identical issue occurs somewhere all the time. The majority of
users have independently subscribed to ethernet bundles. So, ordering food shouldn't pose
too much of a challenge for individuals.

Figure 1.8

The amount that students at UiTM Machang typically spend on fast food orders is
depicted in the pie chart above. According to the graph, the majority of students paid
between RM1 and RM29 for each lunch order. The cost of the food is less expensive if it is
ordered through an online application because it includes service and delivery costs for the
rider. Additionally, since they are students, they only had to pay for their own meals.
Therefore, they can eat anything in that price range.

In addition, according to the graph, 2% of students ordered fast food meals for
between RM60 and RM79 and RM80 and up. This scenario might be seen in a student who
solicits membership requests from his friends. Any student who is currently at home prefers
to order fast food for his family. Last but not least, the majority of students will spend less
than RM30 on a set of fast food meals. If they proceed to the branch, the cost can be less
than RM20. Therefore, if a student visits branches on their own, they can also save money.

Figure 1.9

Finally, given that we are aware of the many ways that students behave while
ordering fast food, we can discuss how long it takes for students to feel satisfied after
consuming such cuisine. The highest option on the chart among the few options given is that
students will feel satisfied less than 12 hours after consuming a selection of fast food meals.
If a student purchases a set of chicken and soda for lunch at noon, he will likely feel satisfied
till after dark. This is a typical occurrence in society, particularly for office workers and
students taking courses online from home.

Additionally, kids will experience fullness for a full day and more than 12 hours.
Because a set of burgers is insufficient for the average Malaysian body size, this
circumstance primarily affects those with low metabolisms and minimal dietary intake.
Therefore, most students won't feel full for more than 12 hours before they need to eat
something else to keep their energy levels up so they can finish their work or engage in
other activities.
CONCLUSION
The majority of the male students at UiTM Machang in Kelantan enjoy ordering fast
food from McDonald's and KFC because the food is tasty, according to an analysis of all the
surveys. The difference in tastes in each company's food may be caused by different
ingredients. like Marry Brown, KFC, and McDonald's.

For the student who is pressed for time and has to order fast lunch, a web-based
application or service is advised. Additionally, it saves them from having to wait in line at the
counter. If they use the online option, they can work while they wait for the food.

There are too many issues with fast food in general, such as erroneous orders and
lines. To make individuals simple to order from and repeat, all issues must be resolved as
fast as possible. The services rendered by the entire team, notably the students at UiTM
Machang, are crucial to the clients.

Last but not least, studying all the fast food ordering practices among students
enables us to better understand the factors that influence people's decisions in such
circumstances. To avoid standing in large lines at the counter, people place their orders
online. A person behaves differently from other people.
