Purpose of this assignment

This assignment will provide you with an understanding of the links between strategic
management, leadership and organizational direction and the skills to apply this

understanding to a selected organization. This assignment must be answered in relation to
the organization you currently work in or an organization that you have knowledge of.

a) In your answers related to the tasks below you may make, and if you do so you
should clearly state, any appropriate and reasonable assumptions that could be
related to the situation depicted. However, you should provide reasons for any
assumptions that you may make
b) Remember that in your answers to the tasks below credit will be given for the use of
analogy analysis, suitable examples and/or the names of appropriate authorities
which you provide to enhance your descriptions and analysis.

Scenario
Select an organization of your choice. You are a management consultant who has been
commissioned by the selected organization to produce a report that investigates
management and leadership needs to support the organization’s business strategy. The
organization has recently identified extensive changes in technology and business
dynamics in the markets it serves. There is a need to plan for and manage this situation.
The senior management team want you to assess its current and future leadership
requirements and produce a realistic leadership strategy and development plan for future
leaders of the organization.

The strategy will be based on your review of the organization’s management and
leadership needs and must be supported by your findings from research of relevant
theories and models.

The report should cover the following key components;
