Water Bath Sonication Safety Procedures

This document provides safe working procedures for using a water bath sonicator. Training is required before first use. Personal protective equipment like safety glasses, lab coat, enclosed shoes and hearing protection must be worn. Hazards include noise, inhalation risks if sonicating solvents without a lid, and heat if the temperature switch is on. The procedure involves ensuring sufficient water is in the bath, adding samples with lids if solvents are used, wearing hearing protection, setting the timer, and not using the heat function. Spills should be cleaned immediately and waste disposed of properly. Maintenance is handled by the vendor when needed.
