Caisson Design Based On 2021 IBC & 2019 CBC

This document summarizes the design of a caisson foundation based on 2021 IBC and 2019 CBC codes. It provides input data and design criteria, including soil properties, structural loads, caisson dimensions, material strengths, and reinforcement. Key outputs of the analysis are presented, showing the caisson design is adequate to resist vertical and lateral soil pressures, and flexural and axial demands, based on checks for soil bearing capacity, caisson embedment length, and shear capacity.

Caisson Design Based on 2021 IBC & 2019 CBC

DESIGN CRITERIA
1. The caisson is designed to rest on an underlying stratum of rock or satisfactory soil
and is used when unsatisfactory soil/water exists. If caisson bottom end not belled,
the caisson has to be drilled into hard stratum 3'-0' minimum.
2. All vertical/axial loads are supported by the bottom end hard stratum. The lateral
loads are supported by the embedded soil, Lembd, based on IBC/CBC Chapter 18.
