Activity 6 Marcotting

The document provides instructions for propagating plants through marcotting. It is a 4 step process: 1) Gather materials like a cutter, straw, ice bag and coconut dust and select a plant like gumamela to marcot. 2) Remove the outer bark from part of the stem. 3) Cover the exposed area with coconut dust using an ice bag to ensure it adheres properly. 4) Tie plastic straw around the area to reinforce it and prevent the coconut dust and ice bag from moving. Following these steps will allow the plant to propagate new branches through asexual reproduction.

ACTIVITY 6: ASEXUAL PROPAGATION MARCOTTING

Step 1:

Prepare all the materials needed in marcotting such as

cutter, plastic straw, ice bag , coconut dust

and plant to be marcotted. I'm going to marcot the

gumamela plants .

Step 2:

Taking off the outer bark or cuticle of some part of

the stem.
Step 3:

In this step I'm going to put the cocont dust around it

Using the ice bag to make sure that the coconut dust is

Covering the stem properly.

Step 4:

- After putting the coconut dust using ice bag , I'm going to

Tie it with plastic straw to strengthen the hold of the

Coconut dust in the stem. It is also important to tie it to

Avoid the icebag with coconut dust to move .

Finally it's done. Marcotting helps the plants to propegate new branches , it is important to know on
how to do marcotting so that the plant that we are planting is going to have more stem or branch.
