Introduction
Mathematics is the science of numbers, and their operations, interaction,
combinations generalization, abstraction, and of space configurations, measurements,
transformation and structures. Algebra, arithmetic, and trigonometry are branches of
mathematics. Mathematics is essential for engineers. Mathematics enable engineers to
build sturdy structures. Structures such as buildings, roads, and bridges. This structures
helps our country to improve and richen it’s economy.
Bridges can contribute enabling tourism, transportation, productivity, and
employment opportunities, increasing the economic activity. Bridges have a special
place in transportation infrastructure due to it’s direct relationship with other places. A
bridge often provides a quicker, easier way to travel from A to B. This is clearly a good
thing if it means people get better access to education and employment. Improved
transport connections are routes to prosperity for areas of deprivation, creating
economic corridors and helping to rebalance economic growth. Bridges are landmarks
that define the identity of towns and cities, and a source of civic pride for me people who
live there. This improves the tourism of the place where the bridge is located. Bridges
are a critical component of a nation’s infrastructure, making it possible to ship raw
materials and finished goods to factories, warehouse, supplies, distributors, stores, and
end-consumers. Bridges also facilitate travel so consumers can purchase goods and
services in their own communities and beyond. When a bridge close, economic activity
slow or grinds to complete halt. Wages earned by bridge construction and maintenance

workers have a positive economic impact when used to buy things at local businesses.
Bridge increase cash flow when they join two places that complement each other
economically. It can have a powerful impact when an area that has a large money
supply is connected to one that has goods or services to sell or people who need work.
The same is true when a community that hay raw materials gains easy access to
another that has factories able to convert them into salable goods.
Bridge Engineers are civil engineers responsible for designing and building
bridges and other highway-related structures. Typical tasks for bridge engineers include
designing and maintaining bridge structures, minimizing environmental impact, and
supervising the fabrication process. As well as completing site investigations, data
collection, identifying environmental risks, analyzing manufacturing processes,
supervising construction, and more. Although the exact duties of a bridge engineer may
differ, it’s safe to say they’ll always play a critical role in any bridge construction project.
Designing and maintaining a bridge is no easy task. That’s why bridge engineers are
required to have skills such as analytical thinking, leadership, supervisory skills,
organization, and creativity. Not to mention, time management and budgeting skills
which are essential for projects with restricted time or resources.
The researchers are looking forward to this study, to understand how
Mathematics is related on building bridges. Distinguish different types of risk factors,
analyze the interrelationship among them, understand the mechanism of their
development, grasp the key factors, and to identify the significant source of safety risk in
bridge construction process with enough energy to heat it, which will get twice the result
with half the effort and ensure the safety of the bridge construction process.

Statement of the problem
This study was conducted to determine how mathematics is essential for
engineers. Such as bridge builders. Specifically, the study aimed to provide answer to
the following questions:
1. What do you need to consider when making a bridge?
2. What are the 5 main components of a bridge?
3. What makes a bridge strong?
4. What is the most important part of a bridge?

Both topics involve the design and engineering of bridges. Our study
“DESIGNING BRIDGES: MATHEMATICS IS ESSENTIAL FOR ENGINEERS
SPECIALLY ON BRIDGE BUILDERS; INVESTIGATE HOW TO BUILD BRIDGES THAT
CAN HOLD WEIGHT WITHOUT COLLAPSE”, particularly in building sturdy structures
like bridges, and emphasizes the critical role of bridge engineers in designing and
maintaining bridge structures. Bridges contribute to the economic development of a
region by improving transport connections, tourism, transportation, productivity, and
employment opportunities. The study aims to identify the essential considerations in
designing a bridge, distinguish different types of risk factors, analyze the interrelationship
among them, and ensure the safety of the bridge construction process. And for our
related review of literature. “MONITORING MOVING RIVERS: ANALYSING THREATS
TO CRITICAL BRIDGES IN THE PHILIPPINES by Richard Boothroyd, (2021)”. This
topic emphasizes the potential threats that river migration poses to bridge infrastructure
and suggests the use of satellite imagery analyses to inform the strategic design and
placement of future bridge infrastructure. The main focus of the study is to analyze the
threats posed by river migration to critical bridges in the Philippines and to propose a
solution to monitor this risk through the incorporation of satellite imagery analyses into
bridge monitoring investigations. The study also suggests that this approach can be
extended to other critical infrastructure adjacent to rivers and to other settings subject to
dynamic natural forces.
