Functionality of the Annual Checklist
Species can be located either by searching name or tracking down through the hierarchical
classification;
Searching by name can be done using accepted scientific name, synonym or common name.
Automatic synonymic and common name indexing takes the user directly to the species under its
accepted name. The search can use part names, or be restricted to complete words;
Tracking down the tree or hierarchy use accepted names for taxa;
If the Internet is accessible, a distribution map could be shown when clicking on “show in map”
icon on the “species details” page;
The standalone application contains an identical copy of the Annual Checklist China dataset and of
the software used on the website;
The structure of the Annual Checklist China database has been optimized for performance with the
user interface but may not ideal for importing to other system;
The content may be copied subject to the Copyright conditions.

system of the Standard Dataset of the Species 2000, and provides the Catalogue of Life China to all
users in the world. The Biodiversity Committee of Chinese Academy of Sciences (BC-CAS),
cooperating with other partner organizations, supports and supervises the establishment of the
Species 2000 China Node. The Chinese Biodiversity Information System (CBIS), supported by BC-
CAS, is the foundation of Species 2000 China Node, and provides the fundamental data in source
databases and IT supports to Species 2000 China Node.
