Mat Man Selfies


A self-portrait with a story
Description/What: Students will learn how to create a watercolor background
and draw a self-portrait after being read the book All People Are Beautiful.

Purpose/Why: Students will learn about how everyone is unique through the
book. Students will also find unique characteristics about themselves that
make them different than their peers to include in their selfie.

Teacher Name: Mckenna Schley


Class/Grade: Kindergarten
Lesson Duration: 2 class periods about 45 minutes each
Art Supplies:
- 8.5”x11” white watercolor paper
- Various shades of skin tone construction paper (8.5”x11” sheets cut in half)
- Black washable Marker, crayon, or colored pencil
- Watercolor palate
- Thick/big Watercolor brushes
- Scissors
- Glue

- All People Are Beautiful book, samples made by teacher
