INT-DAYLIGHT. "AMOR & GUERRA" - COFFE ROOM - OFFICE


Carla, Mireya and Alex get into the coffee room one more morning.
MIREYA: today I’ll invite you to coffee!
Mireya takes some coins out of the back pocket of her pants.
CARLA: I need a strong one huh. I have a headache...
MIREYA: did you drink so much at Pink's?
CARLA: I don’t have headache because of drinking. It's just that, look, the two guys I
sat with at Pink's were cocoons. It seems that I’m the only one who can’t have luck in
love because Alex had a wonderful time with Raúl.
Mireya is surprised and clicks some of the buttons on the coffee machine.
MIREYA: WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER? I don’t believe you!
ALEX: it isn’t such a deal.
CARLA: but how do you say that?
ALEX: well, yes ... yes, it’s serious
Laughing, Mireya gives Alex her coffee.
MIREYA: clear your mind, girl
The journalist of the sport section continues pressing buttons to get Carla's coffee.
ALEX: the most probable thing is that Raúl doesn’t want anything serious ... He will
think that I'm just a work colleague with whom he spent a good night at one of the many
parties of his sister's bar.
CARLA: what if he is as much in love as you?
ALEX: I don’t want to risk it.
MIREYA: who doesn’t risk, doesn’t win.
Mireya gives Carla her coffee while Alex, pensative, drinks from hers.
ALEX: what if I test him?
Finally, Mireya prepares her coffee with a little bit of milk on the machine.
MIREYA: Alex, sometimes you scare me.
Raúl enters the coffee room with Aitor.
AITOR: hello.
RAÚL: hi, girls.
He looks at Alex with love.
RAÚL: Alex.
Carla and Mireya notice that Raúl feels something for Alex even though she still
doesn’t know it.
ALEX: Raúl...
Raul pays attention to what Alex is going to tell him but she gets stucked.
ALEX: could we talk somewhere else?
Raúl nods and together they leave the coffee room and go to the office. There aren’t
more half of the workforce there. Raúl, who has followed her steps there, also stops.
RAÚL: do you want to talk about last night?
ALEX: yes, just about the little that matters to me. I don’t want anything serious, but I
prefer to speak with you to know your opinion.
Raul has been in love with Alex for a long time, almost since they became partners. This
hurts but he prefers to lie to her to not to make her feel uncomfortable. They both want
something serious but she wanted to know his reaction by lying to him and he has lied
to her to not to seem insistent and to not to make her feel bad.
RAÚL: I didn’t know how to tell you this exactly. Luckily I saved the aftertaste
because I thought that you were in love with me but... nothing is further from the truth!
ALEX: it’s only a one night thing, right?
RAÚL: yes, only a one night thing.
They smile fakely, hiding what they feel inside. Carla and Mireya have been trying to
hear everything from the coffee room. The situation has been quite tense between the
photographer and the journalist who do not know what to do now that they have
"solved" their problem. Cifuentes enters ending with this.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: a lot of chatter, Alex! Raúl, do you remember the report with
Juan Flores and María Castaño?
They, excited, don’t answer. Óscar enters his bureau while the rest of the editors enter
to complete their workday. They sit at their respective tables. Marilia and Nacho go to
the archive. Carla and Mireya, worried, leave the coffee room to support Alex and sit
with her. Raúl, sad, looks at her. Óscar Cifuentes leaves the bureau giving several
claps.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: good morning!
Raul sits next to Aitor.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: do you have anything of what you proposed for the number?
The new one!
MARTA: I’ve contacted the family of Sara Casanovas, the girl who tomorrow presents
her accusation against three men in a rape trial.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: a supposed rape.
Aitana, altered, rummages through her papers.
MARTA: for the judge it will always be an alleged violation but I could write with
great detail about the case in a reportage. The family was already telling me and I
wouldn’t mind tomorrow presenting myself at the gates of the judges...
AITANA: NO! I’ve information about the case of the rape in Cádiz and I will be the
one to do the report.
Marta feels a terrible disgust towards Aitana and her arrogant, spoiled and capricious
behavior.
MARTA: what are you doing?
AITANA: no, dad! You can’t let her publish this. I have better information!
MARTA: I doubt it. The truth is what it is: there is neither better nor worse.
AITANA: shut up!
MARTA: stop behaving like a capricious and spoiled daddy's girl.
AITANA: I'm no n...
Óscar Cifuentes gives a very strong blow on the table that scares the rest of the editors.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: I don’t want to stand another discussion between you two.
Understood!?
Everyone is in silence.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: have you heard me, Aitana?
Aitana, serious, agree.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: I don’t have time for these silly children!
He sighs.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: Aitana will go to the courts and you, Marta, will continue to
contrast information from the family of Sara Casanovas and the alleged violators.
Both agree: Marta from professionalism and Aitana, angry.
INT. DAYLIGHT. HOUSE OF THE CIFUENTES FAMILY– KITCHEN-
LIVING ROOM-HALL
Who would have thought that Sofía was trying to kill his husband? It seemed like she
was just cooking some meatballs for her husband but instead, she was mixing some pills
that she had just crushed. The bell rings. She kicks the box where the pills were packed
and it ends hidden under the cupboard of spices. She closes the lunchbox where the
pills are and leaves it hidden behind some pots. She’s going to open: it's Aitana, who is
surprised to see her opening the door.
AITANA: mom? Where is the maid?
SOFÍA: she has the day off.
She enters and closes the door.
SOFÍA: do you want drink a cup of coffee?
AITANA: yes, I’m going to prepare it. Do you are too?
SOFÍA: yes but I'm preparing them, daughter.
AITANA: let me do it.
She drops her bag in a table in the hall.
SOFÍA: okay but let me take the lunchbox from there.
AITANA: why?
SOFÍA: the lunchbox has some fish and I don’t want the coffee you're going to prepare
to have a sea flavor.
Sofia goes to the kitchen, cleans the remains of dust from the table on the kitchen and
takes the lunchbox. Just as she leaves, Aitana enters. Sofía sits on the living room sofa
and puts the lunchbox on the coffee table.
SOFIA: I want two tablespoons of sugar!
AITANA: I will get the sugar bowl so you throw can have you want.
Aitana takes it to the living room and looks at the lunchbox.
AITANA: it’s a very small lunchbox for three people, don’t you think?
She goes back to the kitchen waiting for an answer.
SOFIA: it's special for your father. Today he stays to eat in the magazine.
AITANA: well, he hasn’t told me anything. We haven’t had much time to talk because
of that bitch…
Finally, she turns on the coffee maker.
INT-DAYLIGHT. STREET WHERE THE PINK’S LADIES CLUB AND
“AMOR&GUERRA” ARE LOCATED
Alex and Raúl leave the magazine.
RAÚL: are we going in my car?
ALEX: no-no. Let's go in my car.
RAÚL: but that I have the car parked here.
ALEX: we can go on mine perfectly.
RAÚL: I have proposed it first.
ALEX: and me after you!
RAÚL: but...
ALEX: we are going in my car and that’s it!
Alex goes to her car and gets in. Raúl does the same. She turns the car on go to the
football field where the photo session with Juan Flores will take place.
RAÚL: Alex, is something wrong with you?
ALEX: with me? Nothing! I'm so fucking fine!
RAÚL: well...
Alex increases speed and Raúl prefers to remain silent during the journey.

INT-DAY. HOUSE OF THE CIFUENTES FAMILY- LIVING ROOM - HALL


Sofia finishes her coffee in the living room with her daughter Aitana who is looking a a
fashion magazine where people from the English aristocracy wear different looks and
hairstyles.
SOFÍA: I'm going to take the lunchbox to your father.
AITANA: already?
Aitana looks at her watch.
SOFÍA: if it's time for lunch and I haven’t taken it, your father will get angry.
AITANA: we already know how dad gets angry.
Sofia, sad, nods and takes her purse.
AITANA: tell dad I'm coming back as soon as I finish my coffee. Also, I have to call
the beauty center to make an appointment.
SOFIA: I will tell him. Don’t worry.
Sofia kisses Aitana on her cheek and goes out the door.

INT-DAYLIGHT. PINK'S LADIES CLUB - BUREAU


Laura drinks from her cocktail and smokes a cigarette just when a handsome man,
Pablo Alejandrez, enters the office. They have been dating for about four years. He is a
producer and has been three months of intense shooting with a new movie in Argentina.
LAURA: love!
They hug and kiss but Laura notice he is very cold.
LAURA: is something wrong with you, Pablo?
PABLO: no.
LAURA: we haven’t seen each other for three months and this hug has been freezing.
PABLO: I have to tell you something.
Pablo's attitude is more serious than usual and Laura can’t help but worry that these
three months have affected the relationship that they had been building. They sit.
LAURA: what's wrong?
PABLO: it's because of a ring.
LAURA: a ring?
PABLO: yes, a ring that you have not worn yet.
LAURA: I don’t understand.
PABLO: then it's a very important ring, Laura.
LAURA: I don’t know what ring you're talking about, honey.
PABLO: it’s composed of eighteen carats of white gold and one of diamonds.
LAURA: I really don’t know anything about Pablo.
Laura, worried, sighs.
LAURA: you come here after 3 months of movie shooting in Buenos Aires and ...
You're just talking about a ring.
PABLO: I'll show you.
Pablo gets on his knees, takes out a small box and opens it revealing the ring he has
described. Laura's feelings take an incredible turn, from worry to emotion.
LAURA: Pablo?
PABLO: Laura?
Excited, they laughs.
PABLO: will you marry me?
LAURA: this day and all of my life I would say yes.
A passionate kiss ends the proposal.

INT-DAY. "AMOR & GUERRA" - BUREAU


Óscar Cifuentes seems very busy deciding what will form and in what order the new
issue of the magazine. He is interrupted by the voice of Concha, his secretary, which
sounds through the intercom.
CONCHA: your wife is here. Should I send her in?
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: if I haven’t got other alternative…
Sofía enters the bureau and closes the door.
SOFÍA: I know it's not your pleasure to see me here and you're not going to hit me in
front of your editors either. I'll leave right away, but first I have to give you the lunch
box so you can have lunch.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: what have you brought me?
SOFÍA: some meatballs.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: why hasn’t the maid brought them?
SOFÍA: I had to give her the day off. Her husband had an accident and is hospitalized.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: a free day and nothing, Sofia.
SOFÍA: it's almost time to lunch. You must be hungry.
Óscar Cifuentes removes the pan and puts a cloth attached to the collar of his shirt to
avoid staining it.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: it smells very good. These meatballs would wake a dead man.

INT-DAYLIGHT. HOUSE OF THE CIFUENTES FAMILY- KITCHEN –


LIVING ROOM - HALL
Aitana is in the living room talking on the phone with the owner of the beauty parlor.
AITANA: perfect, Katia. At six I’ll see you. Bye bye.
She hangs up and takes his coffee cup back to the kitchen but drops it. Just as she bends
down to pick up the pieces, she sees the empty package of pills under the cupboard of
spices. She takes it out and looks at it with detail. In the sink, there is a pestle washed
deck with which Sofía has been able to crush the pills. She reaches to the conclusion of
the plan that his mother has planned, takes her purse and runs out to avoid the tragedy.

EXT-DAYLIGHT. FOOTBALL FIELD


Raul is responsible for photographing Juan Flores in various ways on the football field
while Alex, sitting in the stands, can’t stop looking at him. She loves him and regrets the
mistake she has made with the lie to which her insecurities have led her.

INT-DAYLIGHT. "AMOR & GUERRA" - BUREAU


Sofia and Cifuentes are sitting at the table. The lunchbox is in the center. She cleans the
cutlery that has been stained with the fat that it has detached.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: you could have been more careful!
SOFIA: it's not my fault.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: (angry) of course, of course…
SOFIA: I'm sorry, Óscar. Well, here you’ve got the clean cutlery so you can eat each of
the meatballs that I’ve prepared only for you.
Cifuentes takes the fork and punches a meatball. This story would have taken an intense
turn if that meatball had reached his stomach, contaminated by the aspirin to which he
is allergic. Maybe the forensic scientist had discovered the reason, Sofia would blame
the maid and deny having given her the day off. She would even dare to say that they
were lovers but ... Aitana enters the bureau, very upset and heated.
AITANA: if you eat that meatball, you're going to die!
Sofia feels discovered, Oscar scared and Aitana doesn’t know what to say.
AITANA: I’ll be very angry if you eat these…Meatballs? It’s the lunch that I will take
with me to the court’s door awaiting the sentencing of Sara Casanovas’ case.
The meatball that had already punctured on the fork falls in his white shirt.
ÓSCAR CIFUENTES: get out this lunchbox from my sight! Your good-for-nothing
mother has had to bring the wrong lunchbox. She’s a crappy clumsy.
Enraged, he leaves the bureau to clean the stain and Sofia bursts into tears.
AITANA: you’ve been about to commit a madness.
SOFIA: why haven’t you let him eat?
AITANA: you would have been discovered!
SOFIA: it was my PLAN!
AITANA: the only plan is mine. Things with dad are going to be done my way.

INT/EXT.-DÍA/NOCHE. HOUSE OF THE FLORES MARRIAGE– LIVING


ROOM – GARDEN WITH A SWIMMING POOL– PINK'S ROAD CLUB -
HOSPITAL - "AMOR&GUERRA" - OFFICE
While Raúl is taking some photographs of Juan Flores, who is swimming in his pool;
Alex talks with Laura on the phone in the living room of the mansion. Laura is in the
bureau of her bar looking at her ring that has already put on her finger.
ALEX: I fucked it up!
LAURA: yes, you have! You have no idea how in love my brother is with you.
ALEX: I thought he didn’t want anything formal
LAURA: he didn’t want to seem pathetic trying too hard to be in a formal relationship
and you have shown him he doesn’t have to.
ALEX: I have to try and solve this.
LAURA: I will try to encourage him but don fuck it up again, girl. I know how my
brother is and he should be crying his heart out.
ALEX: sorry, I better go. María Castaño is ready.
Alex hangs up. María Castaño walks down the stairs with a long, wide wine-colored
dress that lets her huge belly stand out because of pregnancy. Juan Flores has also
changed and removed the swimsuit. The two journalists and the couple meet in the
living room of the mansion.
ALEX: I guess it's not the first time you do a reportage. You’ve to appear with all the
clothes that we have brought and if you want to show your house, we could take the
photographs in different rooms. For example, with swimwear, you could appear in the
pool although Juan just have photographs there.
JUAN FLORES: okay.
RAÚL: for wha…
ALEX: mayb…
They notice that they have been interrupted and they are embarrassed.
ALEX: you speak Raul.
RAÚL: no-no, you speak.
After a moment of silence, Alex turns on the sound recorder.
ALEX: let's focus on fame, okay? Tell us how you have been the player with the most
goals from a team like Real Madrid and be his wife. Well María, if I'm wrong, you can
also boast of a brilliant career as a model on catwalks like the ones...
MARIA CASTAÑO: fame, my dear, is a trash.
Maria's words make a great impression on them.
JUAN FLORES: excuse my wife. The pregna...
María Castaño seems very upset.

convenient either.
MARÍA CASTAÑO: I got pregnant because the club asked for it as well as this report
and the television advertising. Everything Juan Flores does is for his dearest club! I
would dare to say that even our marriage.
JUAN FLORES: you have everything you want! You live a life that any woman would
want to live!
MARIA CASTAÑO: that's not true THIS IS a GOLD CAGE!
Suddenly, the amniotic fluid invades the floor. María is about to give birth. Alex and
Raúl help her to lie down on the floor.
JUAN FLORES: it's better that we take down the interview.
RAÚL: we have to call an ambulance.
Juan Flores takes the keys to his car and goes out into the garden. Alex and Raúl don’t
understand what is happening. Juan Flores turns on his car.
ALEX: where are you going?
JUAN FLORES: I’m leaving.
RAÚL: you can’t leave! Your wife is in labor.
Before Raúl has finished the phrase, the footballer has already left the mansion. Alex
runs and grabs the telephone in which a few minutes ago she had spoken with Laura.
ALEX (voice over): (we see how Alex tries to attend the birth at the mansion
Flores with Raúl's help while they are waiting for an ambulance) celebrities should
be grateful, readers. If they are who they are, it’s because we ourselves recognize their
merits: great actors, better singers or ... Juan Flores! It’s him from whom I came once
again to this fashionable section to write. According to his wife María Castaño (we see
as in the hospital, María Castaño is taken to the parlor) fame is a garbage that turns
you into what you have always hated. This is what has happened to this peculiar
marriage. (We see Raúl and Alex waiting at the hospital door with their arms
crossed without looking at each other) Fame, Castaño continued, conditions your life

Alex types everything she has been narrating on his typewriter in the "Amor&Guerra"
office at night. Raúl appears behind her with a coffee in his hand and begins to kiss her
around the neck.
Alex: (saying while typing) maybe fame has exploited to Juan Flores in his own face.
Alex types the separator. She has finished the report. She gets up and kisses Raúl.
