Johnny Horton Johnny Reb

North To Alaska You fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
Big Sam left Seattle in the year of ninety-two You fought all the way Johnny Reb
With George Pratt his partner and brother Billy too
They crossed the Yukon river and they found the bonanza Saw you a marchin' with Robert E Lee
gold You held your head high tryin' to win the victory
Below that old white mountain You fought for your folks but you didn't die in vain
Just a little south-east of Nome Even though you lost they speak highly of your name
Sam crossed the Majestic mountains to the valleys far below Cause you fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
He talked to his team of huskies You fought all the way Johnny Reb
As he mushed on through the snow
With the northen lights a-runnin' wild I heard your teeth chatter from the cold outside
In the land of the midnight sun Saw the bullets open up the wounds in your side
Yes Sam McCord was a mighty man I saw the young boys as they began to fall
In the year of nineteen-one You had tears in your eyes cause you couldn't help at all
But you fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
Where the river is windin' big nuggets they're findin' You fought all the way Johnny Reb
North to Alaska go north the rush is on
North to Alaska go north the rush is on I saw General Lee raise a sabre in his hand
Heard the cannons roar as you made your last stand
George turns to Sam with his gold in his hand You marched into battle with the Grey and the Red
Said Sam you're lookin' at a lonely lonely man When the cannon smoke cleared it took days to count the
I'd trade all the gold that's buried in this land dead
For one small band of gold to place on sweet little Jenny's Cause you fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
hand You fought all the way Johnny Reb
'Cause a man needs a woman to love him all the time
Remember Sam a true love is so hard to find When Honest Abe heard the news about your fall
I'd build for my Jenny a honeymoon home The folks thought he'd call a great victory ball
Below that old white mountain But he asked the band to play the song Dixie
Just a little south-east of Nome For you Johnny Reb and all that you believed
Cause you fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
Where the river is windin' big nuggets they're findin' You fought all the way Johnny Reb
North to Alaska go north the rush is on (Yeah) You fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
North to Alaska go north the rush is on You fought all the way Johnny Reb
======================================== You foughtall the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb
Whispering Pines (Yeah) You fought all the way Johnny Reb
The snowflakes fall as winter comes ========================================
And time just seems to fly The Mansion You Stole
Is it the loneliness in me that makes me want to cry The mansion I own has captured your heart
My heart is sad like a morning dove that's lost its mate in You said it was love dear but you lied from the start
flight I wanted true love but you wanted my gold
Hear the coooing of his lonely heart through the stillness of Someday you'll be sorry for the lies that you told
the night
You've stolen my heart and you cheated on me
CHORUS: But someday my darling I know that you'll see
Whispering pines, whispering pines, tell me is it so A house without love can make you so cold
Whispering pines, whispering pines, you're the one who And you will be lonely in the mansion you stole
knows ========================================
My darlin' is gone, ohh she's gone
And I need your sympathy
Whispering pines send my baby back to me

See that squirrel up in the tree, his mate there on the ground
Hear their barking call of love, for the happiness they've
found
Is my love still my love, ohh this I gotta know
Send the message by the wind, because I love her so

-- CHORUS

On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico
The Battle Of New Orleans (One-two, hup-two-three-four)
In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip We fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round
And we caught the bloody British in a town in New Orleans We filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his
behind
We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin' And when we touched the powder off the gator lost his mind
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they begin to runnin' We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
(One-two-three, with a-one-two-three) We fired once more and they begin to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico
We looked down a river
(Hut-two) Yeah, they ran through the briars
And we see'd the British come (Hup-one-two)
(Three-four) And they ran through the brambles
And there must have been a hundred of'em (One-two-three-four)
(Hut-two) And they ran through the bushes
Beatin' on the drums (Hup-two)
(Three-four) Where the rabbit couldn't go
They stepped so high (Hup-two-three-four)
(Hut-two) They ran so fast
And they made their bugles ring (Hup-two)
(Three-four) That the hounds couldn't catch 'em
We stood by our cotton bales (One-two-three-four)
(Hut-two) On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico
And didn't say a thing (One-two, hup-two-three-four)
(Two-three-four)
Hut-two-three-four
We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin' Sound off, three-four
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago Hut-two-three-four
We fired once more and they begin to runnin' Sound off, three-four
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico Hut-two-three-four
Hut-two-three-four.
Old Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise ========================================
(One-hut, two-three-four) I'm Ready If You're Willing
If we didn't fire our muskets There's abig bright moon above and the night's just made for
(One-hut, two-three-four) love
'Till we looked 'em in the eye Baby I'm ready if you're willing
(One-hut, two-three-four) If that twinkle in your eye is a darin' me to try baby I'm
We held our fire ready if you'rewilling
(Hut, two-three-four)
'Till we see'd their faces well Baby can'tyou see I'm waitin' for you to make up your mind
Then we opened up our squirrel guns There's no use in hesitatin' can't you see we're wasting time
And really gave 'em - well we Don't you think that love is grand let me be your lover man
Baby I'm ready if you're willing
Fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago I like theway you smile would you like to spoon awhile
We fired once more and they begin to runnin' Baby I'm ready if you're willing
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico And I like the way you kiss ooh let's go on like this baby I'm
ready if you'rewilling
Yeah, they ran through the briars
(One-hup-two) Baby can'tyou see I'm waitin' for you to make up your mind
And they ran through the brambles There's no use in hesitatin' can't you see we're wasting time
(Hup-two-three-four) Don't you think that love is grand let me be your lover man
And they ran through the bushes Baby I'm ready if you're willing
(Hup-two)
Where the rabbit couldn't go Baby can'tyou see I'm waitin' for you to make up your mind
(Hup-two-three-four) There's no use in hesitatin' can't you see we're wasting time
They ran so fast Don't you think that love is grand let me be your lover man
(Hup-two) Baby I'm ready if you're willing
That the hounds couldn't catch 'em ========================================

When It's Springtime In Alaska (It's Forty Sink The Bismarck
Below) In May of 1941 the war had just begun
"i mushed from point barrow through blizzard of snow. The Germans had the biggest ship that had the biggest guns
been out prospectin' for two years or so. The Bismarck was the fastest ship that ever sailed the sea
pulled into fairbanks, the city was a-boom. On her decks were guns as big as steers and shells as big as
so i took a little stroll to the red dog sea-loon. trees

as i walked in the door, the music was clear. Out of the cold and foggy night came the British ship the
the purtiest voice i had heard in two years. Hood
the song she was singin' made a man's blood run cold. And every British seaman he knew and understood
when it's springtime in alaska, it's forty below. They had to sink the Bismarck the terror of the sea
(when it's springtime in alaska it's forty below.) Stop those guns as big as steers and those shells as big as
trees
it was redhead lil who was singin' so sweet. We'll find the German battleship that's makin' such a fuss
i reached down and took the snow packs off my feet. We gotta sink the Bismarck cause the world depends on us
i reached for the gal who was singin' the tune. Yeah hit the decks a runnin' boys and spin those guns
we did the eskeemo hop all around the sea-loon. around
When we find the Bismarck we gotta cut her down
with a caribou crawl and a grizzly bear hug. [ ac.guitar ]
we did our dance on a kodiak rug. The Hood found the Bismarck and on that fatal day
the song she kept singin' made a man's blood run cold. The Bismarck started firing fifteen miles away
when it's springtime in alaska it's forty below. We gotta sink the Bismarck was the battle sound
But when the smoke had cleared away the mighty Hood
i was as innocent as i could be. went down
i didn't know lil was big ed's wife-to-be. For six long days and weary nights they tried to find her trail
he took out his knife and he gave it a throw. Churchill told the people put every ship asail
when it's springtime in alaska i'll be six feet below. Cause somewhere on that ocean I know she's gotta be
(when it's springtime in alaska he'll be six feet below.) We gotta sink the Bismarck to the bottom of the sea
======================================== We'll find the German battleship...
All For The Love Of A Girl [ ac.guitar ]
Well today I'm so weary today I'm so blue The fog was gone the seventh day and they saw the morning
Sad and broken hearted and it's all because of you sun
Life was so sweet dear life was a song Ten hours away from homeland the Bismarck made it's run
Now you've gone and left me oh where do I belong The Admiral of the British fleet said turn those bows around
And it's all for the love of a dear little girl We found that German battleship and we're gonna cut her
All for the love that sets your heart in a whirl down
I'm a man who'd give his life and the joys of this world all The British guns were aimed and the shells were coming fast
for the love of a girl The first shell hit the Bismarck they knew she couldn't last
[ guitar ] That mighty German battleship is just a memory
And it's all for the love... Sink the Bismarck was the battle cry that shook the seven
======================================== seas
We found the German battleship t'was makin' such a fuss
Commanche (The Brave Horse) We had to sink the Bismarck cause the world depends on us
The battle was over at Custer's last stand We hit the deck a runnin' and we and spun those guns
And taps were sounding for all the brave men around
While one lone survivor wounded and weak Yeah we found the mighty Bismarck and then we cut her
Comanche the Brave Horse laied at the General's feet down
Comanche you fought hard Comanche you tried We found the German battleship...
You were a good soldier so hold your head up high ========================================
For even the greatest sometimes must fall Comanche the
Brave Horse you gave your all

Though you are silent your deeds did speak loud

If your buddies could see you I know they'd be proud
The symbol of bravery at the Little Big Horn
Poor old Comanche your battle scarred and worn

Comanche you fought hard...

Comanche you fought hard...

Jim Bridger
Once there was a mountain man who couldn't write his Honky Tonk Man
name I'm a honky tonk man and I can't seem to stop
Yet he deserves the front row seat in History's Hall of Fame I love to give the girls a whirl to the music of an old jukebox
He forgot more about the Indians than we will ever know But when my money's all gone I'm on the telephone
He spoke the language of the Sioux the Black Foot and the Callin' hey hey mama can your daddy come home
Crow
I'm living wild and dangerously but I've got plenty of
(Let's drink to old Jim Bridger yes lift your glasses high) company
As long as there's the USA don't let his memory die When the moon comes up and the sun goes down
(That he was making history never once occured to him) That's when I want to see the lights of town
But I doubt if we'd been here if it weren't for men like Jim Cause I'm a honky tonk man...
[ guitar ]
He spoke with General Custer and said listen Yellow Hair I'm a honky tonk man...
The Sioux are the great nation so treat 'em fair and square
Sit in on their war councils, don't laugh away their pride It takes a purty little gal and a jug of wine
But Custer didn't listen at Little Big Horn Custer died That's what it takes to make a honky tonk mind
With the jukebox a moanin' honky tonk sound that's when I
There's poems and there's legends that tell of Carson's fame wanna lay my money down
Yet compared to Jim Bridger Kit was civilized and tame Cause I'm a honky tonk man...
These words are straight from Carson's lips if you place that ========================================
story by him I'm A One Woman Man
If there's a man who knows this God forsaken land it's Jim If you told me that you love me I would feel so proud
