David D. Clark joined Intermountain Healthcare in November 2001. He is the regional vice president/CEO for the Urban South Region, and is responsible for the overall operations of the region, consisting of three hospitals and other related services. David graduated from Brigham Young Universitys Marriott School of Management with a B.S. degree in finance, and from Texas Tech University with an MBA in health organization management. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. With over 20 years of progressively responsible healthcare management experience, Clarks work experience includes four separate hospital CEO positions ranging from a small rural hospital in Crosbyton, Texas to vice president and administrator of a 432-bed tertiary care hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. In his current position, responsible for a 500-bed region with over 4,000 employees, David reports to the senior vice president of hospital operations in SLC as well as a regional, volunteer board in Utah County. David is passionate about values-driven and results-oriented healthcare leadership, and he is committed to Intermountains six dimensions of care, including clinical and service excellence, physician and employee engagement, operational effectiveness, and community stewardship. Clark recently served a three-year, voluntary term as the Regent for the state of Utah in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He currently serves on The Joint Commissions Professional and Technical Advisory Council (PTAC), representing the ACHE. Clark is a recipient of Utah Business magazines 2008 Healthcare Heroes award and he was a 2004 Manager of Distinction by Intermountain Healthcare. In June of 2001, Mr. Clark was awarded the Christus Health Touchstone Award for excellence in labor and productivity management. David served on the Texas Hospital Association Board of Trustees from 1996 through 1999, he was awarded a 1994 Up and Comer award by Modern Healthcare magazine, and he has been recognized by ACHE with the Regents Award in 1996. He was recently published in Frontiers of Health Services Management journal for his article entitled, Cost Cutting in Health Systems without Compromising Quality Care (December 2010). Davids civic involvement includes membership on various boards and advisory committees, including the United Way of Utah County (past chair), the UVU Community Relations Council (chairman), Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Utah Valley Healthcare Foundation, and the Intermountain Healthcare Urban South Region Board. Clark is an Eagle Scout and active in Friends of Scouting. David and his wife, Dodie, are the parents of four children. They reside in Provo.
