Sanctuary and Daniel 12 - English

The document discusses the importance of understanding the sanctuary and the investigative judgment. It provides multiple quotes from Ellen White emphasizing that the sanctuary is the foundation of Seventh-day Adventist faith, the center of Christ's atoning work, and was key to understanding the 1844 disappointment. It stresses that all should thoroughly study and understand the sanctuary, as Satan will attempt to confuse people with false theories about it. The sanctuary opens up the plan of salvation and God's people should have their eyes fixed on the heavenly sanctuary as Christ ministers there.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SANCTUARY

Evangelism, p. 221.2 (Ellen Gould White)

The Foundation of Our Faith—The correct understanding of the ministration in the heavenly
sanctuary is the foundation of our faith.—Letter 208, 1906. Ev 221.2
Evangelism, p. 221.3 (Ellen Gould White)
The Center of Christ's Atoning Work—The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative
judgment should be clearly understood by the people of God. All need a knowledge for themselves
of the position and work of their great High Priest. Otherwise, it will be impossible for them to
exercise the faith which is essential at this time, or to occupy the position which God designs them
to fill. Every individual has a soul to save or to lose. Each has a case pending at the bar of God.
Each must meet the great Judge face to face. How important, then, that every mind contemplate
often the solemn scene when the judgment shall sit and the books shall be opened, when, with
Daniel, every individual must stand in his lot, at the end of the days. Ev 221.3
Evangelism, p. 222.1 (Ellen Gould White)
All who have received the light upon these subjects are to bear testimony of the great truths which
God has committed to them. The sanctuary in heaven is the very center of Christ's work in behalf of
men. It concerns every soul living upon the earth. It opens to view the plan of redemption,
bringing us down to the very close of time, and revealing the triumphant issue of the contest
between righteousness and sin. It is of the utmost importance that all should thoroughly investigate
these subjects, and be able to give an answer to every one that asketh them a reason of the hope that
is in them.—The Great Controversy, 488, 489 (1888). Ev 222.1
Evangelism, p. 222.2 (Ellen Gould White)
The Key to a Complete System of Truth—The subject of the sanctuary was the key which
unlocked the mystery of the disappointment of 1844. It opened to view a complete system of truth,
connected and harmonious, showing that God's hand had directed the great advent movement, and
revealing present duty as it brought to light the position and work of His people.—The Great
Controversy, 423 (1888). Ev 222.2
Evangelism, p. 222.3 (Ellen Gould White)
Eyes Fixed on Sanctuary—As a people, we should be earnest students of prophecy; we should not
rest until we become intelligent in regard to the subject of the sanctuary, which is brought out in the
visions of Daniel and John. This subject sheds great light on our present position and work, and
gives us unmistakable proof that God has led us in our past experience. It explains our
disappointment in 1844, showing us that the sanctuary to be cleansed was not the earth, as we had
supposed, but that Christ then entered into the most holy apartment of the heavenly sanctuary, and is
there performing the closing work of His priestly office, in fulfillment of the words of the angel to
the prophet Daniel, “Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be
cleansed.” Ev 222.3
Evangelism, p. 223.1 (Ellen Gould White)
Our faith in reference to the messages of the first, second, and third angels was correct. The great
waymarks we have passed are immovable. Although the hosts of hell may try to tear them from
their foundation, and triumph in the thought that they have succeeded, yet they do not succeed.
These pillars of truth stand firm as the eternal hills, unmoved by all the efforts of men combined
with those of Satan and his host. We can learn much, and should be constantly searching the

Scriptures to see if these things are so. God's people are now to have their eyes fixed on the
heavenly sanctuary, where the final ministration of our great High Priest in the work of the
judgment is going forward,—where He is interceding for His people.—The Review and Herald,
November 27, 1883. Ev 223.1
Evangelism, p. 223.2 (Ellen Gould White)
The Central Truth in a Simple Theology—In every school established the most simple theory of
theology should be taught. In this theory, the atonement of Christ should be the great substance, the
central truth. The wonderful theme of redemption should be presented to the students.—Manuscript
156, 1898. Ev 223.2
Evangelism, p. 224.1 (Ellen Gould White)
Seriousness of Sanctuary Truth—While Christ is cleansing the sanctuary, the worshipers on earth
should carefully review their life, and compare their character with the standard of righteousness.—
The Review and Herald, April 8, 1890. Ev 224.1
Evangelism, p. 224.2 (Ellen Gould White)
Preaching the Sanctuary Doctrine Endorsed by Holy Spirit—For more than half a century the
different points of present truth have been questioned and opposed. New theories have been
advanced as truth, which were not truth, and the Spirit of God revealed their error. As the great
pillars of our faith have been presented, the Holy Spirit has borne witness to them, and especially is
this so regarding the truths of the sanctuary question. Over and over again the Holy Spirit has in a
marked manner endorsed the preaching of this doctrine. But today, as in the past, some will be led
to form new theories and to deny the truths upon which the Spirit of God has placed His approval.
—Manuscript 125, 1907. Ev 224.2
Evangelism, p. 224.3 (Ellen Gould White)
False Theories Regarding the Sanctuary—In the future, deception of every kind is to arise, and
we want solid ground for our feet. We want solid pillars for the building. Not one pin is to be
removed from that which the Lord has established. The enemy will bring in false theories, such as
the doctrine that there is no sanctuary. This is one of the points on which there will be a departing
from the faith. Where shall we find safety unless it be in the truths that the Lord has been giving for
the last fifty years?—The Review and Herald, May 25, 1905. Ev 224.3
Evangelism, p. 224.4 (Ellen Gould White)
Contest Over Distinguishing Truth—The time is near when the deceptive powers of satanic
agencies will be fully developed. On one side is Christ, who has been given all power in heaven and
earth. On the other side is Satan, continually exercising his power to allure, to deceive with strong,
spiritualistic sophistries, to remove God out of the places that He should occupy in the minds of
men. Ev 224.4
Evangelism, p. 225.1 (Ellen Gould White)
Satan is striving continually to bring in fanciful suppositions in regard to the sanctuary, degrading
the wonderful representations of God and the ministry of Christ for our salvation into something
that suits the carnal mind. He removes its presiding power from the hearts of believers, and supplies
its place with fantastic theories invented to make void the truths of the atonement, and destroy our
confidence in the doctrines which we have held sacred since the third angel's message was first
given. Thus he would rob us of our faith in the very message that has made us a separate people,
and has given character and power to our work.—Special Testimonies, Series B, 7:17. (1905). Ev

Evangelism, p. 222.1 (Ellen Gould White)
All who have received the light upon these subjects are to bear testimony of the great truths which
God has committed to them. The sanctuary in heaven is the very center of Christ's work in behalf
of men.
Ev 222.1

Reading all these thoughts above, we can understand the fact that the Sanctuary is
the one that made us a special people, through the truths we have understood so far from
its study. At the same time, we are urged to research these topics carefully and to be able
to give an answer to anyone who asks us to account for the hope that is in us. The
sanctuary, as EGW says, opens up the Plan of Salvation, bringing us very close to the end
of time. These are the reasons why I started studying the Sanctuary.

Let's start with the beginning.

The Lord said to Moses thus:

Exodus 25:8
“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.”
Exodus 25:40
“And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the
mount.”
Exodus 26:30
“And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was
shewed thee in the mount.”

The tabernacle that Moses did, was made according to the image that the Lord
showed Moses when he was on the mountain. But the great original, the model after
which the Sanctuary on earth was built, is found in heaven.
Hebrews 8:1-2
1.“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest,
who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;”
2.“A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not
man.”
Hebrews 8:5
5.“Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was
admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith
he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.”
Hebrews 9:11
11. “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more
perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;”
Hebrews 9:24
24. “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures
of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:”

4
The sanctuary was and it is an exemplification of the plan of salvation in our
understanding, a kind of sand box where our children understand in a simple way, truths
that are more difficult to understand, which otherwise they would not have been able to
understand. In the same way, God also designed a method to show us the way in which
we can be saved. The entire plan of salvation is found in this symbolic service at the
Sanctuary, from when Jesus came and gave Himself as a sacrifice for us, until the total
destruction of sin and sinners and of course, until the destruction of the initiator of sin in
the Universe.
This sanctuary had three partitions: the courtyard, the Holy and the Most Holy
Place. In each of these divisions, a certain work took place. Sacrifices were sacrificed in
the courtyard, whose blood, later, was taken and sprinkled on the curtain of the Holy. Apart
from the sacrifices for sin, etc., there is a certain type of sacrifice that was brought daily,
morning and evening, endlessly before the Lord. These represented the daily service, the
morning and evening altar.

Exodus 29:38-42
38“Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by
day continually.”
39“The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at
even:”
40“And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of
beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.”
41“And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat
offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an
offering made by fire unto the LORD.”
42“This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there
unto thee.”

There is also an annual service that was performed once a year, namely the Day of
Atonement, which took place on the tenth day of the seventh month. The Day of
Atonement was the only day of the year when the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies,
the last partition of the Sanctuary, which was separated from the Holy by the inner curtain.
The annual service was meant to cleanse the Sanctuary and everything it contained of the
sins stored there during a year. Unlike the daily service, which was performed by any
priest, the annual service could only be performed by the High Priest.

Leviticus 8:30
“And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and
sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons'
garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons'
garments with him.”
Leviticus 21:10
“And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was
poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor
rend his clothes;”

5
Leviticus 16:2
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all
times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that
he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.”

If we realize that the Sanctuary on earth was an exemplification of the plan of

salvation, only a shadow of the real tent that was erected not by man, but by God Himself,
we will be able to actually understand the ministry of Jesus, as the Great Priest in the
Sanctuary in Heaven. So, understanding the elements and all the services that took place
in the Sanctuary on earth, we will understand what is happening today in heaven.
Jesus had and has a work to do in each of these rooms, partitions, of the
Sanctuary. Taking into account that all the sacrifices were always sacrificed in the
courtyard, after which only the blood that was sprinkled on the inner curtain was taken to
the Holy, so the work of Jesus had to start also in the courtyard. Taking into account the
fact that after the ascension Jesus began His ministry in the Holy, it is very easy to
understand that the court, in the Great Plan of salvation, represents the Earth, where
Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. After the ascension, he entered the Holy,
and on October 22(the 10th day of the seventh month), 1844, He entered the Holy of
Holies in Heaven.

Daniel 8:13-14
13“Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which
spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of
desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?”
14“And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the
sanctuary be cleansed.”

Early Writings, p. 74.2 (Ellen Gould White)

Then I saw in relation to the “daily” (Daniel 8:12) that the word “sacrifice” was supplied by man's
wisdom, and does not belong to the text, and that the Lord gave the correct view of it to those who
gave the judgment hour cry. When union existed, before 1844, nearly all were united on the correct
view of the “daily”; but in the confusion since 1844, other views have been embraced, and darkness
and confusion have followed. Time has not been a test since 1844, and it will never again be a test.
EW 74.2

Why does the word sacrifice not find its place in this context? Because, if in the
case of the ancient sanctuary, daily sacrifices were necessary, in the case of the heavenly
Sanctuary, the sacrifice of Christ that was brought once for all is sufficient. The Lord Jesus
entered the Holy One from heaven with His own blood, there no longer needing other
sacrifices, He only performed a daily service. This is the reason why, if we understand that
in these two verses we are talking about the heavenly Sanctuary, we can no longer
correctly use the word sacrifice, but only the daily service, in the context of the following
verses:
Evrei 9:11-12
11.“But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more
perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;”

6
12.“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into
the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”
Evrei 9: 24-28
24“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of
the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:”
25“Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place
every year with blood of others;”
26.“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once
in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
27“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
28“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him
shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

If we look at the Sanctuary, we will understand much more than we do today, as

William Miller already did. The cleansing of the Sanctuary in verse 14 refers to the day of
Atonement that took place in the Sanctuary on earth, and which began on October 22,
1844 (on this date the day of Atonement fell in the Jewish calendar) in the one in heaven,
in the Great Original from heaven. At the moment when the Day of Atonement began in
the Sanctuary on earth, it was necessary for the daily service in the Holy Place to stop,
which is why no one was allowed to be in the Sanctuary while the High Priest was serving
in the Most Holy Place.
Leviticus 16:17
“And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to
make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for
himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.”

At the first reading of the verses quoted above (Daniel 8:13-14), we might think that
the angel's answer has nothing to do with the question, but it is not so, on the contrary,
they complement each other. While in verse 13 the question is how long will the vision
regarding the daily last, in verse 14 we are given another detail and we are told that at the
end of the 2300 days, the sanctuary shall be cleansed. So, the two verses connect and
complement each other very nicely, because the moment when the vision regarding the
daily had finished or the daily service stopped (the service from the Holy Place), coincided
with the moment when the Most Holy Place service began, and more precisely the Day of
Atonement on October 22, 1844. In fact, they were two different events, which took place
at the same time, at the end of the 2300 evenings and mornings, one had finished (the
Lord Jesus daily service in the Holy Place) and one had started (the cleansing of the
Sanctuary in The Most Holy Place or The Day of Atonement). It seems so clear and
beautiful how the Lord combined them both in these two verses. So, the time when the
vision about the taking away the daily comes to fulfillment, symbolizes the completion of
the work of our Lord Jesus in the Holy Place of Heaven (in 1844), and if we agree with this
interpretation, we will have to interpret the taken away of the daily in the same way,
wherever we meet this expression in the Word of God.
When I am thinking about the “shall take away the daily”, I think about the vision of the
thrones, when Satan took the place of Jesus in the Holy Place.
These verses represent the only place in the Bible where we can understand the
historical time of the “take away the daily” in the Great Plan of Salvation!!!

*** SANCTUARY HOLIDAYS ***

I want to analyze these holidays a little, because, just like the daily and annual
services at the Sanctuary, which have an application to the Sanctuary in heaven, the
holidays also have an application in the plan of salvation that revolves around the
Sanctuary.
To understand better, let's start with the Passover celebration that took place in the
th
14 day in the first month of Nissan of the Jewish calendar. The Passover was instituted
on the night of the liberation of the Jews from Egypt, when each family had to slaughter a
lamb and sprinkle the doorposts with the lamb's blood, Lamb which, of course,
represented the Lord Jesus who would give his life so that we could have life.
After the exit of the Jews from Egypt, as a reminder of their pilgrimage through the
desert, the Lord instituted the Feast of Tabernacles. A question that may arise in the mind
of someone who begins to seriously study this subject, will be: "Why is the Feast of
Tabernacles not instituted immediately after the Passover, but is instituted after the Day of
Atonement?" (after the night of the exodus from Egypt, the desert immediately followed)
It's a question I asked myself, and at the right moment I received the answer.
I want to read some quotes from the book Great Controversy, ch. 22 - Fulfilled
prophecies:

The Great Controversy (1888 ed.), p. 398.3 (Ellen Gould White)

That which led to this movement was the discovery that the decree of Artaxerxes for the
restoration of Jerusalem, which formed the starting-point for the period of the 2300 days,
went into effect in the autumn of the year B. C. 457, and not at the beginning of the year,
as had been formerly believed. Reckoning from the autumn of 457, the 2300 years
terminate in the autumn of 1844. [See Diagram, Opposite p. 328; also Appendix, Note 3.]
GC88 398.3
Arguments drawn from the Old-Testament types also pointed to the autumn as the time
when the event represented by the “cleansing of the sanctuary” must take place. This was
made very clear as attention was given to the manner in which the types relating to the
first advent of Christ had been fulfilled. GC88 398.4
The slaying of the passover lamb was a shadow of the death of Christ. Says Paul, “Christ
our passover is sacrificed for us.” [1 Corinthians 5:7.] The sheaf of first-fruits, which at the
time of the Passover was waved before the Lord, was typical of the resurrection of Christ.
Paul says, in speaking of the resurrection of the Lord, and of all his people, “Christ the
first-fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.” [1 Corinthians 15:23.] Like the
wave-sheaf, which was the first ripe grain gathered before the harvest, Christ is the first-
fruits of that immortal harvest of redeemed ones that at the future resurrection shall be
gathered into the garner of God. GC88 399.1
These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On the
fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which, for fifteen long
centuries, the passover lamb had been slain, Christ, having eaten the passover with his
disciples, instituted that feast which was to commemorate his own death as “the Lamb of
God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” That same night he was taken by wicked
hands, to be crucified and slain. And as the antitype of the wave-sheaf, our Lord was
raised from the dead on the third day, “the first-fruits of them that slept,” [ 1 Corinthians
15:20.] a sample of all the resurrected just, whose “vile body” shall be changed, and

8
“fashioned like unto his glorious body.” [Philippians 3:21.] GC88 399.2
In like manner, the types which relate to the second advent must be fulfilled at the
time pointed out in the symbolic service. Under the Mosaic system, the cleansing of
the sanctuary, or the great day of atonement, occurred on the tenth day of the seventh
Jewish month, [Leviticus 16:29-34.] when the high priest, having made an atonement for
all Israel, and thus removed their sins from the sanctuary, came forth and blessed the
people. So it was believed that Christ, our great High Priest, would appear to purify the
earth by the destruction of sin and sinners, and to bless his waiting people with immortality.
The tenth day of the seventh month, the great day of atonement, the time of the cleansing
of the sanctuary, which in the year 1844 fell upon the 22d of October, was regarded as the
time of the Lord's coming. This was in harmony with the proofs already presented that the
2300 days would terminate in the autumn, and the conclusion seemed irresistible. GC88
399.3
Initially, those who studied the prophecy, believed that the 2300 years ended at the
beginning of 1844, but studying more deeply the subject of the Sanctuary, they understood
that the cleansing of the Sanctuary spoken of in Daniel 8:14, refers to the cleansing of the
Sanctuary or the Day of Atonement, which is celebrated once a year on the 10th day of
the seventh month (autumn) of the Jewish calendar. This is why Ellen White says on GC
that:

Arguments drawn from the Old-Testament types also pointed to the autumn as the time
when the event represented by the “cleansing of the sanctuary” must take place. GC88
398.4

From here we can draw the conclusion that for each act, symbol, from the
Sanctuary built by Moses, we have a correspondence with the Sanctuary in heaven during
the fulfillment of the plan of salvation.
Ellen White says very clearly, "the types, which had been connected with the
first coming of Christ, had been fulfilled."
Let's see now which types from the Sanctuary were fulfilled on the occasion of the
first coming of the Lord Jesus.

The slaying of the passover lamb was a shadow of the death of Christ. Says
Paul, “Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.” [1 Corinthians 5:7.] The sheaf of first-
fruits, which at the time of the Passover was waved before the Lord, was typical of the
resurrection of Christ. Paul says, in speaking of the resurrection of the Lord, and of all
his people, “Christ the first-fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.” [1
Corinthians 15:23.] Like the wave-sheaf, which was the first ripe grain gathered before the
harvest, Christ is the first-fruits of that immortal harvest of redeemed ones that at the future
resurrection shall be gathered into the garner of God. GC88 399.1

1. The slaying of the passover lamb was a symbol of Christ's death (on the 14th day of
the first month)

2. The sheaf with the first fruits was a symbol of the resurrection of Christ, as the first
fruit of the redeemed, which also represented those who will be resurrected in the future
resurrection, as Paul also says in 1 Corinthians 15:23. "Christ the firstfruits; afterward they
that are Christ's at His coming.” (on the 16th day of the first month).

9
And as the antitype of the wave-sheaf, our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day,
“the first-fruits of them that slept,” [1 Corinthians 15:20.] a sample of all the resurrected
just, whose “vile body” shall be changed, and “fashioned like unto his glorious body.”
[Philippians 3:21.] GC88 399.2

These symbols were fulfilled not only in terms of event, but also in terms of
time!!!!!!!

That is, according to what EGW says:

On the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which,
for fifteen long centuries, the passover lamb had been slain, Christ, having eaten the
passover with his disciples, instituted that feast which was to commemorate his own death
as “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” That same night he was
taken by wicked hands, to be crucified and slain.GC88 399.2

!!!!!!!!! In like manner, the types which relate to the second advent must be fulfilled
at the time pointed out in the symbolic service.!!!!!!!! GC88 399.2

If we follow the logical thread and understand that the events related to the first
coming took place according to a calendar predetermined by God (both in terms of the
event and the time), from the statement above we will have to draw the conclusion that the
types ( events) related to the Second Coming must also take place at a time
predetermined by God, according to the symbolic service at the Sanctuary.
Let's see if up to the present moment we have such an event related to the Second
Coming that was fulfilled at the time indicated by the symbolic ceremonial service.
As I said above, the entry of Jesus into the Most Holy Place from heaven coincided with
the date of the Jewish calendar, with the Day of Atonement in the Sanctuary on earth.
October 22 falls on the 10th day of the 7th month of the Jewish calendar.
We know that the High Priest enters the earthly Sanctuary on the Day of Atonement
and also finishes his service there on a Day of Atonement. If Jesus' entry into the Most
Holy Place respected the Day of Atonement, and we know that the events related to the
Second Coming must respect the types of the Sanctuary, and the high priest on earth
came out of the Most Holy Place also on a day of Atonement, then it is understood that
Jesus will have to come out of the Holy of Holies from heaven, also on a Day of
Atonement.
If the Lord indicated us the date when He was going to enter the Most Holy Place,
why wouldn't he also indicate the date when he was going to leave.!?! At the moment, I
don't want to say that we can establish a year when Jesus will come out of The Most Holy
Place, but yes, we know at what time of the year, namely on the occasion of a Day of
Atonement in the Jewish calendar. If the Lord announced to us the beginning of the
investigative judgment, why wouldn't He also warn us about its ending, which, frankly
speaking, is much more important for us as the last generation, of course, for those who
believe that we are the last generation !!!
I return to the previous idea, if the types related to the 1st coming were fulfilled at
the time shown by the symbolic service, and the types related to the 2nd coming must also
be fulfilled according to the symbolic service from the sanctuary, and taking into account
that the the swinging sheaf symbolizes both Christ and those redeemed at His coming,
means that the Second Resurrection must also take place during the Jewish Passover, the

10
celebration of the swinging sheaf; and the liberation of the faithful people will also take
place on the occasion of an Passover, as the liberation of the Jews from Egypt took place
on the night of Passover.
If Jesus leaves the Most Holy Place on a day of atonement, after which the plagues
begin to fall, it means that the minimum time for the plagues to fall is approx. minimum 6
months, because between the Day of Atonement and the next Passover. I said that the
minimum time for the plaques to fall is a minimum of 6 months, and a maximum of ..... we
will study on another occasion.

3. Pentecost falls fifty days after the wave of the sheaf.

Leviticus 23: 16,17

16“Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye
shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.”
17“Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be
of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.”

"If the sheaf was shown at the beginning of the harvest before any of the new fruits
had been used, Pentecost fell at the end of the harvest of all grain, not only barley, as it
was with the sheaf, and represented Israel's joyful acknowledgment that they depend on
the Giver of all good. This time there appeared not only a sheaf, but two loaves made of
flour, baked with dough, together with "seven lambs a year old without blemish, a calf and
two rams" (verse 17 and 18).
During the Passover celebration, it was mandatory not to be around and not to eat dough.
At the fiftieth, two loaves were to be presented "baked with dough" (verse 17). The
swinging sheaf was the first fruit "Christ". He was without sin. Bread is not a direct creation
of God. It is partly the work of man. It is incomplete, it is mixed with dough. But it is
received. It is "swayed before the Lord, together with the two lambs: they shall be
dedicated to the Lord and shall belong to the priest."
Pentecost symbolizes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Just as the loaves were brought
fifty days after bringing the sheaf to be waved, fifty days passed between the resurrection
of Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:1-4) Christ spent forty of these days
teaching and helping His disciples (Acts 1:3). Then He ascended and for 10 days the
eleven disciples persisted in prayers and supplications until the day of Pentecost came.
With Pentecost came the fullness of the Spirit." Service in the Sanctuary - M.L. Andreasen,

The Great Controversy (1888 ed.), p. 611.1 (Ellen Gould White)

"The work will be similar to that of the day of Pentecost. As the “former rain” was
given, in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the opening of the gospel, to cause the
upspringing of the precious seed, so the “latter rain” will be given at its close, for the
ripening of the harvest. “Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord; his going
forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and
former rain unto the earth.” [Hosea 6:3.] “Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in
the Lord your God; for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to
come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain.” [ Joel 2:23.] “In the last
days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh.” “And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” [Acts 2:17, 21.] The great
work of the gospel is not to close with less manifestation of the power of God than marked

11
its opening. The prophecies which were fulfilled in the outpouring of the former rain at the
opening of the gospel, are again to be fulfilled in the latter rain at its close. Here are “the
times of refreshing” to which the apostle Peter looked forward when he said, “Repent ye
therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out [in the investigative
Judgment], when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and he
shall send Jesus.” [Acts 3:19, 20.]" GC88 611.1
All these feasts had an applicability to the first coming of our Lord. Knowing that the
event of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will be repeated in the Latter Rain and taking into
account the fact that the events related to the second coming will take place at the time
indicated by the symbolic service, we can draw the clear conclusion that the outpouring of
the Latter Rain will also take place on the occasion of a celebration of Pentecost in the
Jewish calendar.
Although when I started to study these elements I did not consider it necessary to
celebrate these holidays, now I realize that, for the Holy Spirit to pour out, it is necessary
for us to stay like the disciples and wait for Him, in communion with each other, praying
and confessing our sins.
4. The Feast of Trumpets took place on the first day of the seventh month (Tisri), being
heralded with the sound of the trumpet and intended to make the sinner aware of the need
for repentance in anticipation of the great Day of Atonement, when there should not be
any unconfessed sin.
If all the other holidays were applied in the great plan of salvation, shouldn't this
holiday have a correspondent?!
In the book of Revelation we are told of 7 trumpets that must sound before the coming of
the Lord (starting with Rev. 8:2). Studying these trumpets, we can see that they represent
some events, or rather some plagues (the first ones, because the last ones are the 7
bowls according to Rev. 15:1), partial (also the third part being affected) that have the
purpose to awaken the consciousness of the sleeping humanity in view of the investigative
judgment that is taking place in the Heavenly Sanctuary.

5. The Day of Atonement points both to Jesus' entry into the Most Holy Place, and to the
moment of His exit, and implicitly the end of the work of intercession in the heavenly
Sanctuary in favor of fallen man.

6. The Feast of Tabernacles, according to Leviticus 23:34, took place on the 15th day of
the 7th month, so after the Day of Atonement.
We must understand that every symbol, celebration from the earthly Sanctuary has
applicability to the heavenly Sanctuary. All these holidays were left to us to understand the
plan of salvation from beginning to end. They are a teaching material for us, so that we
understand heavenly truths in human terms.

I asked a question above, namely:

Why is the Feast of Tabernacles not instituted immediately after the Passover
Feast, taking into account that immediately after the liberation from Egypt, the Jews
passed through the desert, a passage in memory of which this feast was instituted
(actually in memory of God's care towards Jews), but is it instituted after the Day of
Atonement?

12
I have heard opinions that say that the Feast of Tabernacles from the Great Plan of
Salvation will be celebrated on the 7-day journey of the saved to Heaven, or even in
Heaven. The only biblical report I found in:
Zechariah 14:16
“And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against
Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and
to keep the feast of tabernacles.”
-and it refers to the New Earth, after the descent of the city of Jerusalem on the Mount of
Olives (Zachariah 14:4). If we are to look at the pleasant way and the festive time spent by
the Jews during the celebration of this occasion, yes, we can find a correspondence. On
the other hand, if we look at the origin of this holiday, namely the time spent by the Jews in
the desert, after leaving Egypt, we will realize that the situation was not so rosy.
Let's find some elements that characterize the wilderness through which the Jews
wandered for 40 years:
1. The wilderness represents the transition period between Egypt and earthly Canaan.
2. The Jews were freed from Egyptian slavery.
3. There was a separation between the Jews and the Egyptians.
4. It represented the time of total dependence on God, both in terms of food (manna) and
water (from the rock), as well as in terms of clothing on them (the Lord told them: "And I
have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and
thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.”)
5. It represented the time period in which they left their homes in Egypt, being forced to
live in tents.
Let's repeat: The Feast of Tabernacles takes place after the Day of Atonement, when the
plagues begin to fall.
What happens to the people left alive during this period of time, until the return of the Lord
on the clouds of heaven?
Let's see how the Feast of Tabernacles is applied to the Heavenly Sanctuary in the Great
Plan of Salvation, or more precisely what correspondences exist between the time of the
Jews' wilderness and the time of the plagues.

While for the Jews, the holidays pointed to the first coming of the Lord Jesus, in our
case, they direct our attention to the second coming. The reason why we, today, should
celebrate the holidays, would be to keep them alive in our memory, thus better
understanding the plan of salvation. And yes, we will certainly hold the Feast of
Tabernacles on the New Earth, this time in memory of our own WILDERNESS!

THE EXPLANATION OF THE TWELFTH CHAPTER OF
DANIEL

Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 18 (1903), Lt 161, 1903, par. 6

The people of God need to study what characters they must form in order to pass through
the test and proving of the last days. Many are living in spiritual weakness and backsliding.
They know not what they believe. Let us read and study the twelfth chapter of Daniel. It is
a warning that we shall all need to understand before the time of the end. There are
ministers claiming to believe the truth who are not sanctified through the truth. Unless a
change comes in their lives, they will say, “My Lord delayeth His coming.” [Matthew 24:48.]
18LtMs, Lt 161, 1903, par. 6

If there is no future "date", how could we explain the quote above and the 12th
chapter of Daniel in which there are three prophetic periods?! The above quote was
written in the year 1903, when it is understood that it did not yet represent the time of the
end. When she says that we must understand the warning before the time of the end, it
means that this chapter 12 had not yet been understood and the time of the end had not
yet come.
What is the main test of the last days that we have all been waiting for? Of course, the
Sunday decree! As we are told in this paragraph, we must form suitable characters, study
and understand very well what we believe, being advised in this context to study the
twelfth chapter of Daniel, a warning that if we do not understand, we will end up saying
that "My Lord delayeth His coming!". What exactly does this chapter tell us that would
wake us up and stop us from saying these words?! What message does this chapter
convey to us, which could make us aware of the imminent return of our Lord? It's a
message about TIME! What time?! There are three time periods presented in this chapter.
We will start with the beginning, because the context must be studied first.
Let's start with chapter 10 of Daniel. In the third year of Cyrus, the king of Persia, Daniel
had a vision that heralded a great misfortune. He was in mourning for 3 weeks, after
which, on the 24th day of the first month, being on the banks of the Hidechel (Tigris) river,
he had a vision that also left him without strength:

Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p. 112.3 (Ellen Gould White)

The light that Daniel received from God was given especially for these last days.
The visions he saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel, the great rivers of Shinar,
are now in process of fulfillment, and all the events foretold will soon come to pass. TM
112.3
Daniel 10: 4-10
4. “And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great
river, which is Hiddekel;”
5.“Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen,
whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:”
6.“His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his
eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the
voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.”
7.“And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but
a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.”

15
8. “Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in
me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.”
9. “Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I
in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.”
10. “And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms
of my hands.”

After this experience, the angel Gabriel comes and says to Daniel:
Daniel 10: 11-12
11.“And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I
speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken
this word unto me, I stood trembling.”
12. “Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine
heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I
am come for thy words.”

The angel directs his attention to the fact that the vision and the information he will
receive are about the later times, those distant times.
Daniel 10:14
14. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days:
for yet the vision is for many days.
A confirmation, if necessary, can be found in the following quote:
Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p. 112.3 (Ellen Gould White)
The light that Daniel received from God was given especially for these last days.
The visions he saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel, the great rivers of Shinar,

112.3

From here on, the angel begins to explain to Daniel a long history that was to unfold
on earth (chapter 11 of Daniel).
!!!Let's take one thing into account, namely, initially the Bible was not subdivided
into chapters and verses, only later, for an easier identification of the verses.
I will not start a study on chapter 11, but will only dwell on certain verses that I
consider relevant to my study. We come to verse 31 of Daniel 11:

Daniel 11:31
31. “And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and
shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh
desolate.”

I explained above the fact that the word "sacrifice" was added (according to EW
74.2) and that the taken away of the daily took place in the year 1844, when our High
Priest ended, ceased, his daily service from the Holy Place and at the same time He
started the service from the Most Holy Place, on the Day of Atonement.
It can be observed that the taken away of the daily is always followed by the
abomination of the desolator. If we understand that the taken away of the daily took place
on October 22, 1844, we can consider this verse as a temporal landmark in this chapter 11
full of historical descriptions, helping us not to drift along the axis of time without a sure
reference. Thus, the events described starting with this verse can be applied with more

16
certainty to the time period after 1844. I will not try to identify the time of these events for
now, because this is not my goal for the moment.

Daniel 11:36-37
36.“And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify
himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and
shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be
done.”
37. “Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard
any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.”

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
1. “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our
gathering together unto him,”
2. “That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor
by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.”
3.“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come
a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;”
4. “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped;
so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

In verses 36 and 37 it is spoken of a king who will glorify himself above all the gods
and will say unheard things against the God of gods, almost the same expression being
found in the verses of 2 Thessalonians 2:4, being of course not difficult to I know who it is.
Today, only one assumes the prerogatives of God, namely the right to forgive sins and
receive worship: none other than the Pope from Rome!!!!
In verse 35 we are told that "the end will not be until the appointed time", that is, there is a
time set aside for this end. Also in verse 40 it is said that "At the time of the end" the kings
of the south and the north will rise up against this king, and in verse 45, the last of chapter
11, we are told that this king "shall come to his end, and none shall help him".
I remind the fact that initially the writings of the Holy Scriptures were not subdivided
into chapters and verses, so that chapter 12 is the direct continuation of chapter 11.

Daniel 12:1
1.“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children
of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a
nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one
that shall be found written in the book.”

"At that time" the great prince Michael will stand. First of all, what does "At that
time" mean? Verse 40 speaks of a time of the end, and verse 35 of the fact that this end
takes place at a decided time. I would like to ask something else: whose end, who are
these verses talking about? About the king who glorifies himself above God! In verse 45
we can see that this emperor will come to an end at some point, but at that time, when the
emperor will come to an end, another event will take place, namely, the great prince
Michael will stand up.

17
But what does it mean that the great prince Michael, meaning Christ, will stand up?
Before standing up, it was necessary to sit down. We know that when Jesus ascended to
heaven, he sat down to the right hand of the throne in heaven and began the work of
intercession in the heavenly Sanctuary.

Hebrews 8:1-2
1.“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest,
who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;”
2. “A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not
man.”

The fact that He will stand up can only mean that He will finish his work in the
heavenly sanctuary. In conclusion, if we understand the moment when this emperor will
reach his end, we will understand the moment when the great voivode Michael will rise
from the Most Holy Place.
Also, in verse 1 of chapter 12, we are told that that time will be a time of distress,
such as has never been since the nations and until this time, and I would even complete
with what Matthew tells us in chapter 24 :21, "nor ever shall be”. That time will be nothing
but the period of the fall of the last seven plagues or bowls, which will be poured out after
the end of Jesus' work in the Most Holy Place, when the four winds will be released, and
the presence of God will withdraw from the Earth.
"And at that time, thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found
written in the book.". We know that that book of life will be finalized after everyone has
made their choice, and everyone's judgment will be finished. This time can only be when
the High Priest will have finished his work in the Most Holy Place.
After this time of tribulation, the resurrection naturally follows, both of the faithful to
receive eternal life (the first resurrection), and of the ungodly to eternal shame (the second
resurrection).

Daniel 12:2
2. “A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not
man.”
Daniel 12:4
4. “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end:
many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
Let us read and study the twelfth chapter of Daniel. It is a warning that we shall all
need to understand before the time of the end. 18LtMs, Lt 161, 1903, par. 6
The above quote was written in the year 1903, when it is understood that it did not
yet represent the time of the end. When he says that we must understand the warning
before the time of the end, it means that this chapter 12 had not yet been understood and
the time of the end had not yet come.
Daniel 12:5-6
5.“Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the
bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.”
6. “And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How
long shall it be to the end of these wonders?”

18
The end that is being talked about here is the end that I talked about a little above,
when the king will reach his end, when Jesus will finish his work in the heavenly
Sanctuary. We can also observe that in verse 45 of chapter 11, the description of the
events on earth ends, and in chapter 12, verse 1, the description of those in heaven
begins, these events being successive. "How long shall it be to the end of this wonders?",
indicates that the period that will be talked about in verse 7 ends with the end of the work
in the heavenly Sanctuary.

Daniel 12:7

According to William Miller's rules of biblical interpretation, which Ellen White

recommended, the explanations of the prophetic symbols must also be found in the Bible,
and if we find them and they make sense we can move on with our study.
In response to the question in verse 6, in verse 7 we are told that there will be three
and a half times until the end, that is, until the work in the heavenly Sanctuary is finished.
What does three and a half times mean? Let's apply Miller's rule.

Daniel 4:25
25. “That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the
field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew
of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in
the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.”

As we know, those seven times in which Nebuchadnezzar ate grass like oxen were
actually seven years, so in Daniel's mind a time represented a year. Let me bring some
more arguments.
Numbers 14:34
34. “After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day
for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of
promise.”
Ezechiel 4:6
6. “And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear
the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.”
We notice that in the verse from Numbers they are given a year for each day, and
Ezekiel is given a day for each year, resulting in this principle of interpretation being
reversible!!!
The conclusion is that those three and a half times represent three and a half literal
years, that is, 1260 literal days.

Revelation 10:5-6
5. “And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to
heaven,”
6. “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that

19
therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things
which are therein, that there should be time no longer:”

Manuscript Releases, vol. 1 [Nos. 19-96], p. 99.1 (Ellen Gould White)

The mighty angel who instructed John was no less a personage than Jesus Christ. Setting His right
foot on the sea, and His left upon the dry land, shows the part which He is acting in the closing
scenes of the great controversy with Satan. This position denotes His supreme power and authority
over the whole earth. The controversy has waxed stronger and more determined from age to age,
and will continue to do so, to the concluding scenes when the masterly working of the powers of
darkness shall reach their height. Satan, united with evil men, will deceive the whole world and the
churches who receive not the love of the truth. But the mighty angel demands attention. He cries
with a loud voice. He is to show the power and authority of His voice to those who have united with
Satan to oppose the truth. After these seven thunders uttered their voices, the injunction comes to
John as to Daniel in regard to the little book: “Seal up those things which the seven thunders
uttered” (Revelation 10:4). These relate to future events which will be disclosed in their order.
Daniel shall stand in his lot at the end of the days. John sees the little book unsealed. Then Daniel's
prophecies have their proper place in the first, second, and third angels’ messages to be given to the
world. The unsealing of the little book was the message in relation to time. 1MR 99.1
Manuscript Releases, vol. 1 [Nos. 19-96], p. 99.2 (Ellen Gould White)
The books of Daniel and the Revelation are one. One is a prophecy, the other a revelation; one a
book sealed, the other a book opened. John heard the mysteries which the thunders uttered, but he
was commanded not to write them. The special light given to John which was expressed in the
seven thunders was a delineation of events which would transpire under the first and second angels’
messages. It was not best for the people to know these things, for their faith must necessarily be
tested. In the order of God, most wonderful and advanced truths would be proclaimed. The first and
second angels’ messages were to be proclaimed, but no further light was to be revealed before these
messages had done their specific work. This is represented by the angel standing with one foot on
the sea, proclaiming with a most solemn oath that time should be no longer. 1MR 99.2
Manuscript Releases, vol. 1 [Nos. 19-96], p. 100.1 (Ellen Gould White)
This time which the angel declares with a solemn oath, is not the end of this world's history, neither
of probationary time, but of prophetic time, which should precede the advent of our Lord. That is,
the people will not have another message upon definite time. After this period of time, reaching
from 1842 to 1844, there can be no definite tracing of the prophetic time. The longest reckoning
reaches to the autumn of 1844. The angel's position with one foot on the sea, the other on the land
signifies the wide extent of the proclamation of the message. It will cross the broad waters and be
proclaimed in other countries, even to all the world. The comprehension of truth, the glad reception
of the message is represented in the eating of the little book. The truth in regard to the time of the
advent of our Lord was a precious message to our souls.—Manuscript 59, 1900, 8, 9. (“Jots and
Tittles, II,” August 16, 1900.) 1MR 100.1
I brought these verses and this quote(1MR 100.1) for clarification. We can observe
in verses 5 and 6 of Rev. 10 almost the same image found in Daniel 12:5-7 and taking into
account that the Revelation is the continuation and explanation of the book of Daniel, they
must be studied together, in order to obtain a clearer picture.
What does the end of prophetic time mean? To answer this question, we must first
say what prophetic time means. Prophetic time is prophetically interpreted time to which
the day-year principle is applied. The fact that in this quote he tells us about the end of the
prophetic time, shows us that we can no longer apply this principle (day-year), after the

20
year 1844 (the year in which the longest prophetic period ends), in the period preceding
the coming of our Lord.
What does it mean that people will not have another message on a specific date? In
order to arrive at the date of October 22, 1844, it was necessary to have a historical date,
in the past, from which, when the Lord found a way, he could start with the interpretation of
the prophecy. We must understand that there is no other clear date indicated by the
Scripture, in the Scripture, as was the one related to the restoration of Jerusalem, from
which we can start in the interpretation of the prophecies, but the prophecies related to the
final events will have as a starting point departure events, through which it will be
necessary to go through first to be able to recognize them, and thus, later, to be able to
decipher the prophecy; exactly as we are told in:

Mathew 24:32-33
32. “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth
leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:”
De la smochin invatati pilda lui: cand ii fragezeste si infrunzeste mladita, stiti ca vara este
aproape.
33. “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the
doors.”

The conclusion is that the starting point of the prophetic periods in Daniel 12 cannot
be found in Scripture, but the event from which these prophetic periods start must be
identified and awaited.
I return to Daniel 12:7. What we know for now is that the three and a half times or
1260 literal days start from an event that we do not yet know and end with the end of
Christ's intercessory work in the heavenly Sanctuary.
As I explained above in the chapter about the sanctuary, the symbols that are
related to the second coming must be fulfilled at the time indicated by the symbolic
service. (GC 399.4), which means that, just as the entry of the Lord Jesus into the Most
Holy Place took place on the Day of Atonement, and the high priest also came out of the
Most Holy Place from the earth on a day of Atonement, the exit of our High Priest from the
Holy Saints will also take place on a day of Atonement. In conclusion, the 1260 days,
because they are days of grace in which we have an intercessor, must end exactly one
day before a day of Atonement in the Jewish calendar, because the Lord will not shorten
the period of grace by even one day .

Daniel 12:8
8. “And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of
these things?”

Daniel represents us, so that by the fact that he hears, but does not understand and
is forced to repeat the above question in a slightly modified form, he indicates to us that
we are the ones who will not be able to follow this prophecy, from some reasons that are
not ours. Daniel needs a new explanation, so he asks for additional details about this
ending.

Daniel 12:9
9. “And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of
the end.”

21
As proof that these words in verse 8 are not for Daniel, but concern us, upon whom
the time of the end has arrived, is verse 9.

Daniel 12:10
10. “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly:
and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.”

Mark 4:11
11. “And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of
God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:”

A big difference between the wicked and the wise will be the fact that the latter,
unlike the former, will search the Word with a sincere desire to understand it, because the
precious stones are not found on the side of the road, but must be dug for.

Daniel 12:11
11. “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination
that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.”

As I explained above, the taken away or the abolition of the daily service, took place
on October 22, 1844, so that, "from the time that the daily shall be taken away”, when the
daily service will stop, in translation, it would sound something like this: "from 1844
onwards". This is an excellent landmark that shows us where to look for the event on the
time axis. Which event? The event represented by the "abomination of the desolator",
which, as you can see, has a fixed point of departure represented by "set up”.
In conclusion, what data do we have so far? We know that we have an event that
will begin somewhere after the year 1844, which is called "the abomination of the
desolator", from which 1290 days will start and will end, just like the 1260 days, exactly
one day before a Day of Atonement from the Jewish calendar.

What is the event called "abomination of desolation"?

Luke 21:20-23
20. “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the
desolation thereof is nigh.”
21. “Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in
the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.”
22.“For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”
23. “But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for
there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.”

Mathew 24:15-19
15. Then ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the
prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

22
16. Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17. Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18. Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19. “And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!”

The Lord Jesus in these passages gives a warning to Christians, namely, when
they see Jerusalem surrounded by hosts, the time has come to flee to the mountains. In
both passages, the same warning is given, with a small difference, namely, in Matthew,
instead of talking about Jerusalem being surrounded by hosts, he tells them: when you will
see "the abomination of desolation", which means that the abomination of desolation
represents the surrounding of Jerusalem by hosts, a fact also confirmed by the words
"placed in the Holy Place", it being known that the land around Jerusalem where the
Roman enemies planted their flag was considered by the Jews a holy place.
Chapter 24 of Matthew is a prophetic chapter in which the Lord Jesus, answering
the disciples' question about the sign of His coming and the end of the age, answers them
by giving them information both about the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman
enemies and about the end of the time before His coming on the clouds of heaven.
What is interesting in verse 15 is that when Jesus talks about the "abomination of
desolation" he directs our attention directly to the prophet Daniel. It is also important to
note that the event represented by the "abomination of the desolator", which Daniel
speaks of, is not found in the context of the destruction of Jerusalem, but in the context of
the "time of the end", which shows us that it must be interpreted in this context.
In order to be able to identify this event in the time of the end, we must find some
characteristics in its initial application, namely during the destruction of Jerusalem in the
year 66 (when the first siege by the Romanian enemies took place) and also, let's make a
parallel with the application from the time of the end.

The "abomination of desolation" in the "Abomination of desolation" in context

context of the destruction of Jerusalem of the time of the end

It took place at the "micro" level, of a It will take place at the "macro", global level
fortress, city
Jerusalem was surrounded by hosts, armies The whole earth will be surrounded by
hosts, armies
Christians were limited in their rights, Everyone's rights will be limited, including
including that of movement, not being able those of movement
to leave the city until the moment when God
opened the way for them

We must therefore find a global event that has the above characteristics. This
global event, taking into account that America is the country of the biblical prophecy from
which all the final events will start, must start from America. We have another criterion,
which ensures that the event supposed to be the "abomination of desolation" is correctly
identified, namely, from the point of departure, the 1290 days must end exactly one day
before a day of atonement, because, as I said before, these represent days of grace, in

23
which there is still intercession for sin. Thus, if we have both the starting point identified by
the characteristics in the table, and the ending point identified by the Day of Atonement,
we can be sure that we will be able to correctly recognize the event.
We only have to either identify it, in case it has passed, or to wait for it in case it
follows.
The only event identified by me two weeks after the onset, which met all the above
conditions, is represented by the "State of Emergency" or "Lockdown" that was imposed in
the USA following the emergence of the so-called C-o-r-o-n-a-v-i-r-u-s pandemic.
President Trump declared a lockdown on March 13, 2020, with implementation starting on
March 14, 2020, which would be the first day of the 1290 days. If we add 1290 days
starting with March 14, we will arrive at September 24, 2023. I entered the website
https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?year=2023&country=34 (this link has the
selections already done), where I selected the year 2023 and the country Israel. All Jewish
holidays are listed at the bottom of the page. As we know that we are told in the book of
Genesis that the day begins with the evening, next to September 24, 2023, the 1290th
day, it is written Yom Kippur eve, that is, the eve of the Day of Atonement, and the day
after, September 25 2023 is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. In conclusion, according
to this agreement, the period of time until the evening of September 24, 2023 is a time of
grace, and starting with sunset, the Day of Atonement begins, the day when Jesus leaves
the Most Holy Place, grace is definitively closed for all, the four winds are released, the
plagues begin to fall on the wicked, the decree of death is given and the night of Jacob's
torment begins for the faithful who remained alive.

We have the last 2 verses left:

Daniel 12:12
12. “Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and
thirty days.”

Taking into account that these 1335 days are actually the continuation of the 1290
days, at first glance you will be able to draw the conclusion that we have found the date of
the return of the Lord Jesus on the clouds of the sky, 45 days after the exit of Jesus from
the heavenly Sanctuary. Why? Because, what other blessing could we have before the
return of Jesus? Let's analyze a little the events that take place after the closure of grace.

I return to the idea I talked about in the chapter related to the Sanctuary. If the types
related to the 1st coming were fulfilled at the time shown by the symbolic service, and the
types related to the 2nd coming must also be fulfilled according to the symbolic service at
the sanctuary, and taking into account that the sheaf to be swayed it symbolizes both
Christ and those redeemed at His coming, it means that the Second Resurrection must
also take place during the Jewish Passover, the celebration of the swinging sheaf, and the
liberation of the faithful people will also take place on the occasion of Passover, so how
the liberation of the Jews from Egypt took place on the night of Passover.
If Jesus leaves the Most Holy Place on a day of Atonement, after which the plagues
begin to fall, it means that the minimum time for the plagues to fall is approx. minimum 6
months, because between the Day of Atonement and the next Passover there are approx.
6 months. Which means that 45 days after Lord Jesus is finishing his work in the Most
Holy Place, the coming of the Lord does not take place on the clouds of the sky, but there
must be another event that can be called "blessed". To understand, we need to see what
events the holy people left alive have to go through.

The Great Controversy, p. 616.1 (Ellen Gould White)
The people of God will then be plunged into those scenes of affliction and distress described by the
prophet as the time of Jacob's trouble. “Thus saith the Lord: We have heard a voice of trembling, of
fear, and not of peace.... All faces are turned into paleness. Alas! for that day is great, so that none is
like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.” Jeremiah 30:5-7. GC
616.1
The Great Controversy, p. 618.1 (Ellen Gould White)
Satan had accused Jacob before the angels of God, claiming the right to destroy him because of his
sin; he had moved upon Esau to march against him; and during the patriarch's long night of
wrestling, Satan endeavored to force upon him a sense of his guilt in order to discourage him and
break his hold upon God. Jacob was driven almost to despair; but he knew that without help from
heaven he must perish. He had sincerely repented of his great sin, and he appealed to the mercy of
God. He would not be turned from his purpose, but held fast the Angel and urged his petition with
earnest, agonizing cries until he prevailed. GC 618.1
Early Writings, p. 283.1 (Ellen Gould White)
Soon I saw the saints suffering great mental anguish. They seemed to be surrounded by the wicked
inhabitants of the earth. Every appearance was against them. Some began to fear that God had at
last left them to perish by the hand of the wicked. But if their eyes could have been opened, they
would have seen themselves surrounded by angels of God. Next came the multitude of the angry
wicked, and next a mass of evil angels, hurrying on the wicked to slay the saints. But before they
could approach God's people, the wicked must first pass this company of mighty, holy angels. This
was impossible. The angels of God were causing them to recede and also causing the evil angels
who were pressing around them to fall back. EW 283.1
The Great Controversy, p. 619.1 (Ellen Gould White)
Though God's people will be surrounded by enemies who are bent upon their destruction, yet the
anguish which they suffer is not a dread of persecution for the truth's sake; they fear that every sin
has not been repented of, and that through some fault in themselves they will fail to realize the
fulfillment of the Saviour's promise: I “will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall
come upon all the world.” Revelation 3:10. If they could have the assurance of pardon they would
not shrink from torture or death; but should they prove unworthy, and lose their lives because of
their own defects of character, then God's holy name would be reproached. GC 619.1
Early Writings, p. 283.2 (Ellen Gould White)
It was an hour of fearful, terrible agony to the saints. Day and night they cried unto God for
deliverance. To outward appearance, there was no possibility of their escape. The wicked had
already begun to triumph, crying out, “Why doesn't your God deliver you out of our hands? Why
don't you go up and save your lives?” But the saints heeded them not. Like Jacob, they were
wrestling with God. The angels longed to deliver them, but they must wait a little longer; the people
of God must drink of the cup and be baptized with the baptism. The angels, faithful to their trust,
continued their watch. God would not suffer His name to be reproached among the heathen. The
time had nearly come when He was to manifest His mighty power and gloriously deliver His saints.
For His name's glory He would deliver every one of those who had patiently waited for Him and
whose names were written in the book. EW 283.2

Although they gave the great cry, when they will see the plagues falling, knowing
that they no longer have a Mediator in the heavenly Sanctuary, their greatest fear will be
that they might have some unconfessed sin. Although they will feel physically attacked
from all sides, their torment will be primarily a spiritual one. The night of tribulation will not
last only one night, but it will be night in their hearts. The greatest relief that they could

25
have in those moments, would be the proof of acceptance from God. If they felt accepted
by the Lord, they could go through that time of falling of the plagues much more easily,
having the certainty of the protection of the holy angels. So that at the end of the 1335
days, the greatest happiness they could have would be the confirmation of the fact that
they are accepted by God and written in the book of life.

Daniel 12:13
13. “But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of
the days.”

As for Daniel, he receives confirmation that he is accepted by the Lord and is given
the promise of resurrection.

Conclusions

The reason for the need to understand this prophecy is not to postpone the
preparation until immediately close to its fulfillment, because until that moment, everyone,
depending on the light they have and the trials they will go through, will have made their
choice some time before. Instead, it is necessary to understand this prophecy, because it
will help us to free ourselves from everything that holds us in this world and to leave
ourselves completely in the arms of God.
If we understand how short is the time we have left on this earth, we will no longer
worry about what we will eat, what we will drink, what we will wear, what schools our
children will attend, but we will tell the Lord: "Lord, what do you want me to do? All my life I
have worked for myself. In the little time I have left, I want to do Your work with all my
heart. Here I am! Send me!"
The awakening we need so much will take place. We will no longer say as it is
written in 2 Peter 3:4 - “And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”

2 Peter 1:19
19. “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed,
as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in
your hearts:”

May the Lord help us to take into account this word of prophecy!
This study is the result of my prayer and desire to understand more in order to be
able to testify to others one day, and of course, to the providence of God who led me in a
way known only to Him, to slowly, slowly understand each piece of the puzzle, which in the
end formed a whole.
I advise everyone, like the Bereans, to study for themselves, asking God's help in
prayer.
Let's rejoice because the Lord is closer than we can imagine!
