EQUIPMENT TYPE WHEELED CO2 FIRE EXTINGUISHER
INTERVAL 1 YEARLY
PRECAUTIONS

1. Obtain an approved Work Permit before commencing activities.
PREPARATION/ISOLATION
2. Check that the equipment tags are as detailed on work order sheet/work permit.
INSPECTION ACTIVITY
3. Remove the extinguisher from service and replace with a spare unit of the same type.
Note: All part numbers referenced in parentheses are taken from the exploded parts drawing, Fig. 3,
shown in the vendor manual.
4. Remove ‘Pull-Tight’ seal (32) and valve locking pin (33) from extinguisher valve handwheel and
open the extinguisher valve fully. Fully discharge the extinguisher to check the operation of the
discharge valve.
5. Remove the hose assembly (25) from the extinguisher outlet valve body (49). Perform 5 yearly
hydrotest as per manufacturers instructions, if necessary, according to the inspection record.
6. Remove the extinguisher from the carriage, install onto the recharge system rack and connect it to the
recharging pump as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the vendors manual, using the correct charging adapter
(part no. 16302).
7. Charge the cylinder to the specified ‘total charged weight’ value stamped on the extinguisher body.
WARNING: DO NOT CHARGE TO MORE THAN SPECIFIED WEIGHT.

8. Close the extinguisher valve.
9. Vent the CO2 pressure in the charging line and disconnect the charging adapter.
10. Test all joints around the extinguisher valve for leakage using a proprietary leak test solution.
11. Replace the locking pin (33) through the extinguisher valve handwheel.
12. Fit a new ‘Pull-Tight’ seal (32).
13. Perform a conductivity test on the hose assembly in accordance with NFPA 10, replace if necessary.
14. Refit the hose assembly (25) to the extinguisher valve body (49).
15. Complete the service record tag, place the extinguisher back in service and remove the spare unit.
16. Sign off the Work Permit.
