ShaliPlast IW CI

ShaliPlast® IW CI is an additive for reinforced concrete that provides integral waterproofing and corrosion inhibition. It migrates through concrete during curing to form a protective layer on rebars. It conforms to relevant standards, reduces permeability, and increases compressive strength and durability equal to plain concrete. The product has applications in bridges, marine structures, floors, walls and mass concrete.

ShaliPlast® IW CI

Integral Waterproofing-cum-Corrosion Inhibiting Admixture for RCC

Description
ShaliPlast® IW CI, an additive for RCC concrete, is an integral liquid waterproofing compound
consisting of surface active agents, plasticizer, polymer additives and corrosion inhibitor which
makes the concrete cohesive by reducing cement voids/capillaries. It protects concrete from water
ingress as well as saves the re-bars of reinforced concrete and mortar against chloride induced
corrosion. The unique bi-polar compound migrates through concrete during curing process and
puts a passive layer over re-bars to stop chloride corrosion.
ShaliPlast® IW CI, being an Admixture-cum-Corrosion Inhibitor, is designed for use in concrete as
such. For any mix design where other water reducing admixture is already present, a compatibility
study is suggested for such applications before going for bulk batch production of concrete.

Approvals/Standards
It conforms the requirements of IS 2645:2003, IS9103 and ASTM C 1582M.

Field of Application
• Bridges and Marine structures.
• Used in RCC floors, walls and slabs.
• Mass concrete casting making dyke walls.
• Deicing areas.

Advantages
• Corrosion resistant & highly impermeable.
• Easily dispersible & compatible with RCC.
• High compressive strength.
• Reduces shrinkage crack development.
• Provides greater workability.
• Increases durability of concrete.

Application Methodology
• Dry mix cement, sand, aggregate in concrete mixer for 2 minutes.
• Add75-80%of required waterintothemixandmixfor3minutes.
• Add ShaliPlast® IW CI @ 200ml per 50 kg bag of cement in remaining water and then wet
mix for 2minutes after adding such dosed water.
• Place the RCC.
• Cure the applied RCC as per good construction practices.
• Alternatively, in case of repair, ShaliPlast® IW CI may be sprayed over concrete @100ml/m2,
depending on porosity of surface.
• In case of small repairs, where spray application is not economical, application can be carried
out by brush.
• For Air entraining agent, a pre-blend trial must be done to decide the doses of air entraining
agent as ShaliPlast® IW CI with air entraining agent increases air producing efficiency.
• ShaliPlast® IW CI is Compatible with all types of Portland cement including SRC (Sulphate
Resistance Cement)
• ShaliPlast® IW CI is not compatible with high alumina cement.
Dosing
• 200 ml per 50kg bag of cement in case of preparation of concrete for RCC.
• Do not allow over dosing. Due to overdosing setting time will be extended rigorously.
• It is advisable to carry out a trial to establish the exact & optimal dosage rate depending
upon set retardation required.

• In case of skin contact, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. Do
not use solvent to clean the contacted area.
• In case of eye contact, wash with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.
• If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting.

Cleaning & Disposal

• Spillages of ShaliPlast® IW CI should be absorbed onto sand, earth or vermiculite and transferred
to suitable containers. Remnants should be hosed down with large quantities of water.
• The disposal of excess or waste material should be carried out in accordance with local legislation
under the guidance of the local waste regulatory authority.
