Organisational Behaviour:- Meaning?
Organizational Behavior (OB) is like studying how people
act and work together in companies or groups. It helps us
understand why people do what they do at work and
how it affects the success of the organization.
Foundations?
The foundations of Organizational Behavior are ideas
from psychology, sociology, anthropology, and
management theories. These ideas help us figure out
how to make people work well together and improve
how organizations do their jobs.
Contributing disciplines to OB?
Organizational Behavior (OB) is like the science of
understanding how people work together in companies
and groups. It's like trying to solve the puzzle of why
people act the way they do at work, and how it affects
the success of the organization.
OB is built upon ideas from different areas, kind of like
putting together pieces of a puzzle. These pieces are
called "contributing disciplines." Imagine each
contributing discipline as a tool that helps us look at
different aspects of how people behave in organizations.
Here are the main contributing disciplines that help us
understand OB:

1. Psychology:- This is like the tool that helps us


understand why people think, feel, and behave the way
they do. It's like peeking into their minds to figure out
what makes them motivated, happy, or stressed. For
example, if we know what makes employees excited
about their work, we can use that knowledge to create a
better and more positive work environment.

2. Sociology:-Think of sociology as the tool that helps us


understand how people interact with each other in
groups. It's like watching how people communicate, make
decisions, and work together. By studying how people get
along or sometimes have conflicts, we can find ways to
make teamwork smoother and more effective.
3. Anthropology:- Anthropology is like a special lens that
lets us see how different cultures and backgrounds
influence the way people work. It's like understanding
that people from different places might have different
ways of approaching tasks or solving problems. By
recognizing these differences, we can make sure
everyone feels included and valued in the workplace.

4. Management Theories:- Imagine management


theories as a set of guidelines that help us lead and
manage people better. It's like having a map that shows
us the best routes to guide a team toward success. These
theories help us figure out how to be good leaders, how
to motivate employees, and how to make smart decisions
that benefit the whole organization.
So, when we put all these contributing disciplines
together, we get a clearer picture of how people behave
in organizations. This understanding helps us create
better workplaces, improve teamwork, and make
organizations more successful overall. Just like different
puzzle pieces coming together to reveal a bigger picture,
these contributing disciplines come together to give us a

Individual Behaviour:-
Foundations of individual behaviour?
"Foundations of individual behavior" refers to the basic
factors that influence how a person thinks, feels, and
acts. These factors include a person's personality, values,
attitudes, beliefs, and experiences. They shape our
decisions and interactions with others.
Determinants of individual behaviour?
Individual behavior is influenced by a combination of
factors that help shape how a person thinks, feels, and
acts. These factors can be categorized into three main
groups:

1. Biological Factors:- These are related to a person's


physical makeup, such as genetics and brain chemistry.
They play a role in determining things like personality
traits, emotions, and responses to stimuli.
2. Psychological Factors:- These involve a person's
thoughts, feelings, and mental processes. Past
experiences, beliefs, attitudes, and motivations
contribute to how someone behaves in different
situations.

3. Environmental Factors:- These encompass the external


surroundings and circumstances that impact behavior.
Family, peers, culture, socioeconomic status, and societal
norms all influence how an individual behaves and makes
choices.

It's important to understand that these factors interact


and work together, often influencing each other. For
example, someone's biological traits can affect their
psychological makeup, which in turn can be shaped by
the environment they are exposed to. This interplay leads
to the wide range of behaviors we observe in people.
