July 2023

Academic Activities: Second Unit test was conducted in the month of July

from 27th. This formative was conducted for 50 marks (25 marks internals and 25 marks
assessment). It was a way to look at the progress indicator of student’s performance. To
evaluate the students learning at the end of Unit.

Literary and cultural Activities conducted:

KINDERGARDEN:

Running Race Competition: It was a fun filled event. It was organized under
the eminent guidance of Principal Sr. A.
Jethrutha and organized by Pre-Primary
teachers [Link], Mrs. Swetha and
[Link] for Pre-KG, LKG and UKG
children of St. Anthony’s School on 15th
July 2023.70 Children lined up at the
starting point and started running towards
the finishing point at the command "On
your march - start- go. It was enjoyable
watching the toddlers racing in various manners. This race helped the children to develop
physically, mentally as well as improve their motor skills. The children enjoyed
themselves and had lots of fun.
Green Day The colour GREEN symbolizes nature, life and energy. The Pre-primary
section of St. Anthony’s School celebrated Green colour
day on 1st July 2023. The main aim of celebrating colour
day is to introduce the colour to the tiny tots. The
teachers and student wore green colour clothes. The
classrooms were beautifully decorated with balloons &
green objects. ‘Show and Tell’ Activity. It was
conducted and children were able to identify the objects
and its importance too. The GREEN DAY celebration
was a wonderful learning activity which helped children
to sort and classify objects based on colors by reinforcing cognitive skills.

Red day: St. Anthony’s School celebrated the Red


colour day on 22ndJuly 2023, Saturday. All the little angels
of kindergarten dressed up beautifully in Red color clothes.
The classes were decorated with
all red colours hangings and
balloons. The stage was decorated
with red colour objects like fruits,
Vegetables, flowers and balloons. The Principal Sr. A. Jethrutha
joined the celebration to support and encourage the children. It
was a scintillating day with innocent faces gleaming and
reflecting brightness, joy, love and happiness They motivated and encouraged the
children.
Classes I –II
a. Hand Writing Competition
“Poor handwriting should be regarded as a sign of an imperfect education”-
Mahatma Gandhi
Handwriting is an art that helps to teach children muscles control and hand eye
coordination. It is an incredibly important exercise
for students as it encourages them to develop their
fine motor skills and confidence. It also activates
the frontal lobe of the brain and contributes to
reading fluency. Altogether 95 students
participated in the competition.
Kannada and Hindi Handwriting competitions for grades I and II was organized at St
Anthony’s school on Thursday (6.7.2023) and Friday
(7.7.2023) respectively. The objective of this competition
was to encourage students
to improve their
calligraphy skills. It
provided students with an
opportunity to display their competency of writing
legibly and neatly. The response of the students was very
encouraging. The students put their best foot forward to
enhance their writing skills.

Classes III –V
a. Spell Bee Competition Report
“Spelling helps cement the connection that is shared between sounds and letters”

Spelling, the art of correctly assembling letters to form


meaningful words, is one of the essential components of
successful writing. Being confident at spelling leads to
confidence in all aspects of literacy. Keeping the same in
mind, an intra –class Spell Bee Competition was organized
for the students of classes III to V on 13-7-2023 altogether
130 students participated in the competition. It aimed at
giving students a platform to learn different spellings with their pronunciation and
consequently, enrich their vocabulary.
b. Vegetable Carving Competition
Vegetable carving competition was
held on 15-7-2023 for the classes III
to V, which was a fun filled event. It
is an art of carving vegetables/fruits
to form beautiful objects such as
flowers, birds, trees, etc. For this
exciting event 77 students were participated in the competition, Mrs. Marjory, Mrs.
Santoshi and Miss. Juli were judges for the competition and they judged the creativity of
the students.
c. Essay Writing: “The Pen is mightier than the Sword”
The school conducted Essay Writing Competition (Kannada) for the students III to V on
[Link] purpose of the competition was to encourage the students to enhance their
thinking and writing skills. It is considered to be the most effective test of the ability of a
candidate to express his/her thoughts on a topic of general interest in general,
unambiguous and impressive language. 120 Students participated enthusiastically to
enhance their writing skills.

Classes VI-X
a. Communication Skill (Reading) The school conducted
Communication Skill for the students VI to X on [Link] purpose of the
communication skills are the ability you use when giving and receiving different kinds
of information. It helps strengthen language and sharpens sentence structure. It gives you
a better command over the language. 170 Students were put their best foot forward to
enhance their communication skills.

b. English Elocution Competition


“Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel “Elocution competition
was conducted on 15-7-2023 for classes VI to X. We
conducted this competition in
order to instill confidence in the
students and encourage them to
learn the art of public speaking
and also promote speaking skills, in terms of pronunciation, delivery,
and voice modulation and develop English in its spoken form. Each
student was given 3 minutes’ time to speak. The teachers appointed in the jury panel
were Mrs Diya, Mrs Binu, Mrs Gracy and Mrs Jayashree.

1. All India Save Education Committee Karnataka(AISEC)


programme: On 28/July/2023 Education Convention was Organized by all India
Save Education Committee Karnataka (AISEC)at Gandhi bhavan Mahadev Desai
auditorium, Bangalore to interact and place
suggestion for Karnataka education policy.
Program started at 10:30 a.m. distinguished
educationist along with Dr HC Mahadevappa,
Minister for Social Welfare Department. Dr MC
Sudhakar, Minister for Higher Education. Mr Madhu
Bangarappa, Minister for Primary and Secondary
Education and Literacy. Discussed the educational
problems and evolving a pro- people education
policy for Karnataka. Preparing text books to inculcate scientific, secular and
democratic values. Hostel and scholarship problems faced by SC ST and OBC
students and positive and negative aspects of NEP- [Link] and suggestions
of these meeting was summarized and prepared as a draft policy by the committee to
presented it to the education minister. All India Save Education Committee Karnataka.
(AISEC). Miss. Rubia attended the meeting from St. Anthony’s School, Bangalore.

2. Teacher’s Traning and development classes:


As per the instruction given by CSA Education Commission we
conducted demo classes for high school teachers. The demo classes
were conducted to improvise new learning technique and make the
classes a lot more interesting.

Students Training:

Educational Exposure: St Anthony’s school organised a


educational program “Planetarium” on 18 th and
19thJuly, 2023 in the school campus. Altogether
404 students of Pre-KG to X classes participated
in it and aquired the knowledge about Planets,
Solar System and Animal World. Students
enjoyed to their full by this program

[Link] Development : A seminar was conducted for the classes VI to


X on Personality Development on 15th July, 2023. Mr. Emmanuel was the resource
person. Altogether 200 students were benefited by this seminar. The seminar was
conducted in two sessions. In the first session classes VI to VIII participated and in the
second session IX and X students participated. He discussed
onthe characteristic set of behavior cognition and emotional
pattern. He pointed on five aspect of living: Individualism,
happiness,contribution,from others,Accepting challenges
and never loose hope in life. It is the sum total of an
individual physicois the sum total of an individual
physiology and psychology system that determinant of her
behavior in a given environment. Human being have a mind and body both of which act
or behave competitiveness and survival of organizations depend on their innovation
capabilities of a person.

Celebrations:
a. Feast of Fr. Silvio Pasquali, Servant of God, Founder of CSA
on 7th July, 2023
“I am offered a young Mission where everything is in the springtime of its life: a new
church, new Christians, for transfusing in my veins new blood”.

On 7thJuly 2023 we as St. Anthony's family celebrated the feast of Fr. Silvio Pasquali.
Father Silvio Pasquali is a man of simplicity worked for the upliftment of the poor, needy
and the old aged.
We started the program at 8:30 a.m. with the prayer in the assembly followed by a skit
on the life history of Fr. Silvio Pasquali by high school students which made the students
to understand his vision to preach the teaching of Jesus through his exemplary life. After
the skit Sr. [Link] explained about how Fr.
Silvio Pasquali started Congregation of Catechist
Sisters of St. Ann at Matampalli, Nalgonda
district. That tender plant of Congregation of
Catechist Sisters of St. Ann spread as a banyan
tree across the countries carrying the aspiration of Fr. Silvio Pasquali in spreading the
light of Christ.

On the special occasion of feast of [Link] Pasquali, we have distributed the prizes for
children who won in state level Karate championship and best out of waste as Pasquali's
Award. The programme was concluded with joyful note by national anthem.

b. Grand Parents Day Celebration:

On 25th July, 2023 we have celebrated grandparent’s day in honour of Sts. Ann and
Joachim parents of Mother Mary. We organized cultural program which included song,
speech, mime, dance and skit on “share and eat”. We welcome the grandparents with rose
flower. Even a handmade cake was made by the sisters for the grandparents. They felt
honored and reciprocated their love through their presence. Around 50 grandparents were
present for the program and spent their time with their grandchildren.
c. St. Ann’s Feast on 26 July, 2023: We celebrated St. Ann’s feast on 26th
July [Link] morning of Feast Day was full of celebration. On this auspicious day we
recalled the life of great Saints. St. Ann and St. Joachim were a pious and righteous couple
and the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Ann means “Grace” and Joachim means
“Yahweh saves” true to their names. [Link] is glorious among the saints because it was
in her that the Immaculate Conception took place, whereby she becomes the mother of
the mother of God and the grandmother of Messiah. Ann herself was a “vessel of Grace”
not in name only, but in the possession of those gifts with which God had endowed her
to be the worthy mother of the Virgin Mary.

“When you always have God by your side, loving you, blessing you and protecting you
then there is nothing to worry”. The celebration started
with holy Mass. Fr. Arogyaswami, the Parish priest was
the main celebrant. Fr. Sandeep, Asst. Parish priest and
[Link], CMI Superior concelebrated the Mass. They
were welcomed by our correspondent Sr. BC. Annamma
and Principal Sr. A. Jethrutha. Father continued the
celebration through the wonderful Holy Eucharist which was followed by the songs by
our school teacher, student choir. All the guests were shared the festal meal after the Mass.
It was a great gathering where we shared the blessings of God together on our Institution.

KISA (Karnataka ICSE School’s Association) SPORTS MEET 2023


KARATE: Our school participated in karate tournament held in SJR Kengeri Public
school at 10.00 am on 03.07.23. Alwin Preethu, Anthony
Stalin, Paul Creflo from IX standard and Preetham from
VII standard participated in the event. Alwin Preethu
took first position and got selected for National level. Preetham bagged third prize and
received bronze medal.
