✴️About Your Teacher
✉️Again, Welcome to our class! My name is Henry Nguyen. I was
born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Viet Nam. I immigrated
to the United States when I was 20 years old. Even though I grew up
in a lively city like Saigon, I enjoyed outdoor activities such as surfing,
skydiving, hiking, and swimming. Until today, I still enjoy going outside
of my house and taking a little adventure each day here right in the
heart of San Diego.
✉️I was an English as a second language student (ESL) when I first
started at San Diego City College (SDCCD). I earned my Associate's
degree in English from SDCCD. After that, I transferred to University
of California San Diego (UCSD) and earned my Bachelor's degree in
linguistics. Then, I traveled and taught English around the world.
When I came back to the United States, I decided to be better in my
career, so I earned my Master's in Education in Literary, Culture, and
TESOL from University of San Diego (USD). I also hold two master
certificates in teaching English as a foreign language and second
language.
✉️Being an ESL student made me realize how fun and rewarding it
was to be in this career. Now being an ESL/EFL/English teacher is not
only my job, but a life that I want to carry on to value, respect, and
appreciate. This class is where we belong!
