Install Microsoft Office 365 (Windows/Mac)

Download and install Microsoft Office 365


You can download the Microsoft Office 365 package and use it free of charge as long as you
are a student at the University. The steps below explain how to download and install Office on
Windows. Downloading Office on a Mac is very similar.

1. Go to portal.office.com.

2. If you are logging on for the first time, you will be asked to enter your university email
address, which is usually your [email protected] and click Next.

If you had already logged on to your email on the device you are using, you will be asked to
click your email address from a list.

Click your email address in the list. If you cannot see your email address in the list, click Use
another account and enter your email address as shown above.

3. You will then see the University of Bedfordshire login page. Log in with your student number
and password.

4. You may be asked if you would like to stay signed in.
It is safe to click Yes if you are using a device no-one else has access to, e.g. your own
laptop at home. If you are using a shared device, e.g. a Library computer, click No.

5. The Office portal opens. Click Install Office in the top right corner and choose Office 365
apps from the drop-down list.

6. Save the setup file to your computer. It is important to note where you save the file. In the
example below, the file is saved into the Downloads folder.

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the setup file.


Alternatively, open the File Explorer and find the folder where you have saved the setup file,
then double-click the OfficeSetup file to run it.

8. You may see a message saying Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your
device? Click Yes to start installing Microsoft Office. The installation process may take a
while.

9. When the install is finished, you will see a message saying "You're all set! Office is
installed now". Click Close.

10.Open one of the apps, for example Microsoft Word, and log in with your university email
address and password. This will activate all Microsoft Office products, and you will be able to
use them as long as you are a student at the University.
