First report of a speed skating competition
In 1466 Vclav aek writes in his diary that his lord, the Bohemian Baron Leo von Romital, who stays at the court of Philip the Fair in Brussels, is invited by his host to watch a contest on ice. aek is surprised by the speed of the skaters, faster than a horse and doing cross-overs in the corners. One person in particular is way faster than all other contenders.
