ASSERTION-REASON BASED QUESTIONS

Directions: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion (A) is followed

by a statement of Reason(R) . Choose the correct answer out of the following choices.
(a) Both A and Rare true and RIs the correct explanation of A
(b) Both A and Rare true but R Is not the correct explanation of A
(c} A Is true but R Is false.
(d) A is false but R is true.
ASSERTION (A): A relation Ron the set {1, 2, -3}-be defined by R = {(1, 2)}, then R
is not transitive.
REASON (R) : A relation is transitive if (a,b) ER and (b,c) ER then (a,c) ER.

Q3' Read the following passage and answer the questions given below:
Integrals of certain functions cannot be obtained directly if they are not in one of the
standard form, but they can be reduced to standard forms by proper substitution. If
<p(x) is a continuous differentiable function, then to evaluate integrals of the form
f f(q,(x)),p'(x)dx, we substitute <p(x) = t and <p'(x)dx = dt. This substitution
reduces this integral to J f(t)dt, which can be evaluated by using standard
formulae.
