What is TacSat?
• TacSat is short for Tactical Satellite and is the
most common form of voice and position location
information (PLI) used by special operations
around the world.
• Similar to HF, it provides Beyond Line of Site
(BLOS) capabilities for units operating where Line
of Site (LOS) coverage is not possible.
• Utilizes smaller antennas and terminals ideal for
tactical operations
• Primarily for Voice and Position Information.
• Lighter and Easier to use than traditional satellite
• Supports both Comms on the Pause and Comms
on the Move.

What are the advantages of TacSat?
• Long range BLOS communication
– Utilizing SATCOM capabilities and an excellent satellite coverage worldwide,
TacSat provides extensive range for communications between command centers
and the forward deployed units.
• Affordable, shared, and efficient channel access
– Flexible architecture, simultaneous voice and PLI, shared access, all maximize the
efficiency of the precious airtime and ensure availability across all units without
adding the cost of assigning dedicated channels to the deployed units.
• Ideal for critical combat applications
– Voice & PLI capability to command and control and situation awareness to provide
critical services to modernized troops.
• End to end security using military grade standard equipment
– Military grade equipment and encryption standards for true security of the
transmitted communications. All communications take off and land in country. No
ground stations or internet connections are utilized.

Do L3Harris radios support TacSat?
L3Harris Falcon III Multiband Radios support TacSat
using our STC waveform
• US DoD Radios
– PRC-117G
– PRC-152A
• Harris International Radios
– RF-7850M Multiband
– RF-7850A Airborne
– RF-7800M Multiband
Note: Falcon II radios do not support STC

What is STC?
w/ STC
w/o STC
25kHz – 7 Independent
• Satellite TDMA Capability (STC) is a L3Harris 25kHz – 1 Channel
Voice & PLI Channels
Waveform that Segments a traditional 25 kHz
satellite channel
• ‘Segmenting’ separates a single 25 kHz channel
into 7 separate and independent voice & PLI
channels
• Each channel acts as an independent half-duplex
Combat Net Radio Voice Channel
• PLI is supported and transmitted on every PTT
• STC utilizes a ‘Controller Radio’ to manage the
segmenting. This is completely under the control
of the end user and utilizes a standard radio.
• Segmenting effectively reduces airtime per
channel costs by 85%.

How does the airtime work?
• Tactical Satellite works in UHF
Frequency unlike most Satellite
communications (L, X ,C, Ka, Ku,
etc)
• Tactical Satellite transponders are
only on Government owned
satellites
• Excess capacity is usually sold
commercially and is in very high
demand
• Providers of UHF TacSat airtime
include Airbus (UK) and Telespazio
(Italy)
• Due to the high demand channels
can be hard to get and expensive

STC Slingshot L-Tac
• L3Harris can offer an alternative solution Inmarsat L-TAC Satellite
for customers unable to get UHF TacSat
Airtime capacity
• STC L-TAC utilizes the STC waveform on
L3Harris Multiband radios with the
Spectra Slingshot and L-Band Airtime Spectra Slingshot
from Inmarsat Antenna
• STC segments the channel same as UHF
providing the greatest value for airtime
• Works with any L3Harris radio with STC
waveform
• Dismount, Vehicular, and Maritime Spectra Slingshot Applique
systems are supported
• All configurations are available as a turn
