My NBME Scores

😀✊
• I Failed 3 self assessments those are (NBME 25 + NBME 30 + Uworld self-assessment 2)

• Uworld self-assessments Are away from the actual Exam; New NBMES 25: 31 are the most
predictive and representative of the real Exam

• I got 63% Correct on the New free 120; this is the link for the new free 120
https://bit.ly/3RI0QB6
• I did not do Old Free 120 or any NBMES from 20:24 because I did not have time

• if you have time, do it; Old Free 120 will Boost your Score in New Free 120. Check out this
link for Old free 120
https://bit.ly/3RI0QB6

• The highest NBME Score I have achieved was 198 (65% Correct on NBME 26)

• it is peculiar to pass Step 1 with this low score, guys. Nothing can predict your test day
performance. My test day performance was good. I felt that

• The first self-assessment is important to establish starting point, It doesn't matter if you passed
or failed it

•I got Generalized anxiety Disorder after I failed NBME 25. Do not get anxious like me if you
forgot your first NBME
• the #1 goal for the first NBME is establishing a starting point, So do your First NBME as
soon as possible after you finish your first round of UWORLD

• as you can see in the Image above, my starting NBME 25 was 46% correct only (Failed)

• NBMEs are not difficult, as millions of Students have told you. NBMES only tries to sway
you to see If you can use your Clinical sense to judge the Case or if you are only an Excellent
memorizer and you will be in the trap and get the Question wrong

• take your NBME and work on your weak areas; if you do that, your performance in the
second NBME will Improve dramatically and hit the roof

• If you did one NBME each week, your score will increase by 3:5 % each week; if you worked
hard strengthening your weaknesses

How to Improve your NBME Scores?

1. Watch Mehlman's video Question Bank on YouTube on your weak area

• those are Mehlman video Question banks on each system arranged by playlist. Every system
has a Question playlist: https://bit.ly/42OW60d

will do that using your observation

3. Do UWORLD Incorrect questions in your weak area (you must have online access to
Uworld to do that)

• watch this Video to learn how to go through Uworld Incorrects

https://bit.ly/3rl22Bk

4. If you did Uworld Incorrect Questions and Still you have time
• I recommend Working on your weak areas from AMBOSS Medical Library and AMBOSS
Question Bank, your plan will be something like this

• Study your weak area from AMBOSS Medical library articles; let say you deficient in
cardiomyopathies (read it from AMBOSS medical library to master it)

• Do a Question session on the corresponding AMBOSS article you have read; every AMBOSS
article Integrated with Questions in the same article

• If you do not have time Skip AMBOSS and Focus on Mehlman Video Question bank +

My Preparation Period

• I started Studying for Step1 in early May 2020, Those are two years and six months

😎
• I used First Aid in the First six months of my early preparation period, but at the end of those
six months, I realized that First Aid was fake and did not work for me; I am a Visual learner

• I can not memorize facts blindly word by word because I got Strong head trauma and
post-traumatic stress disorder secondary to a Motorcycles accident during the last year of high
school; this accident Impaired my memory a little bit

• So I forget easily because my memory is not very strong, and Stress Impairs my memory
easily. First Aid works very well for Excellent memorizers

• After those six months in early January 1, 2021, I discovered AMBOSS and Anki
accidentally; I used them, My retention and performance Increased dramatically

• every one of us has his unique learning Style, no learning Style or method work for everyone,
So the advice is Firstly, figure out your unique learning Style, whether you are Visual learner or
you forget easily or you are Excellent memorizer

• If you are Visual Learner like me, Use Sketchy, Picmonic, Pixorize those are medical
education platforms provide visual learning modules

• I Sit for the Exam on 21 December 2022

• I had so many gaps, So be serious from the First Day; if you can Study for 10 hrs every day,
Do it Seriously from the first day

My Study Method & Resources

1. First Stage:-

• I watched all Dirty Medicine Videos. Dirty medicine is legendary. I memorized all of His
Dirty Mnemonics (My Primary Video Resource); Dirty Medicine did not cover some Topics, so
I used Board and Beyond in those Topics

• you must memorize all Dirty medicine mnemonics. It will help you Solve Questions Faster
and Save time

• (Dr.Dirty) will teach you only what you need to know without wasting your Fucking time

• this PDF Contains all Dirty Medicine mnemonics mentioned in his YouTube videos
http://bit.ly/3mY7weN

• In this Google Drive, I collected all Dirty medicine Videos in one place, which is well
organized and better than the YouTube channel, still the content is the same

• No Difference between this Drive and YouTube content, but this drive is more organized than
the YouTube channel
https://bit.ly/3WBTeBb

• I used Sketchy Microbiology, this Modified Sketchy File with notes on pictures to help you
study Faster
https://bit.ly/3JtNjL6

• I Watched Pathoma For the first 3 Chapters only; you do not need to watch Pathoma in all
chapters; only the First 3 Chapters are so enough

2. Second Stage:-

• I read the corresponding Topic from the AMBOSS medical library

AMBOSS helped me a lot in understanding Difficult Concepts. I used Highlight Button and
High Yield Button in the AMBOSS Medical library to highlight the Highest Yield Information
I need to know; not all information is Equally Important. Some Information is Garbage. You
don't need to know it

• If you are unsure how to start with AMBOSS, read my Article. I will guide you step by step
on How to Start with AMBOSS
https://www.polywork.com/ahmedemad/highlights/cpVxt1TK

• If you are an AMBOSS fan like me, Join the AMBOSS Ambassador program to spread the
word about AMBOSS (I have been AMBOSS Ambassador since December 2021)
http://bit.ly/3Vk9m9A

• Regarding First Aid, I did not like it, So I did not read it in any System, I read it only on
General topics (general pharmacology, Microbiology, pathology)

• If you find Yourself enjoying First Aid, it is Ok to Continue Studying it, But For me, I find
AMBOSS more helpful; the Idea is to Choose the resource that Works Better for yourself

You are not required to memorize First Aid word by word.

• guys, step 1 is pass/Fail, So you are not required to Study every Single Minutiae in First Aid;
studying every single Minutiae In First Aid, this Method Worked Very well when Step 1 was a
three-digit Score; now, Step1 is Pass/ Fail

• If you are an Excellent memorizer, Memorize NBME Exams word by word Instead of
Wasting your time memorizing First Aid word by word

• even Uworld Step1 recently added Large numbers of low yield Questions to encourage
Students to Subscribe for an extended period, those low yield Uworld Questions. You will not
see one of them in your Exam; the actual USMLE Exams are based on NBME Concepts, Not
Uworld (the Exam is NBME, Not Uworld)

• the total number of NBME Exams old NBMES + NEW NBMES Questions are 2400
Questions, Uworld Step1 is 3700 Questions, and this Increase every day; there are 1300 Low
yield Questions in Uworld, Uworld added those Low yield Questions in Purpose to encourage
Students to Subscribe to the Question bank for an extended period, by this way, Uworld will
increase its revenue, The Deal 100% is Money

• only Focus on High yield concepts in NBME Exams, and you will pass your Step1 Exam; the
best Mentor who will teach you all NBME Concepts is (Dr.Micheal Mehlman)

3. Third Stage:-

• I Used the Anki Overhaul deck to Help me remember and retain Information; in this article, I
explained everything you need to know about Anki

• I know, guys most of you are starters, Do not have enough knowledge to start with Anki, so
read My article. I will guide you on how to start with Anki from Zero to hero
https://www.polywork.com/ahmedemad/highlights/J3hah0Zu

4. Fourth Stage:-
• I Read Dr.Michael Mehlman's PDFS; Dr. Mehlman Is the Best mentor Ever For USMLE

• Mehlman PDFS works for Both Step1 and Step 2; PDFS Contains all NBME Concepts You
Need To know

• All Dr.Mehlman PDFS are free to Download here

https://bit.ly/3hHXKQ2

• All Mehlman PDFS are Very Excellent; highly recommended reading all of his PDFS

• But If your Exam is in the Upcoming month Or two weeks, Focus on those PDFS

1-HY arrows, Endocrine, Neuro-anatomy, Biochemistry, genetics, Biostatistics, Ethics,

Immunology

2-HY Mixed review are Four Parts Review PDF Only 80 pages; absolutely Magic It contains
all high yield cases In NBME EXAMS

• If you want to review the step1 Or step2 Content, read this HY Mixed review. It works for
Both Step1 and Step2

• Instead of re-reading First Aid multiple times, Read this Mixed review numerous times, and
memorize It Better than your name

• Do HY Mixed review Before Your Exam in the Final week, also you can Read it During your
Preparation period to continuously refresh your Memory with USMLE Curriculum (It works
for Both Steps 1 & 2)

5. Fifth Stage:-

• I Watched Dr. Mehlman's Question bank Series on his YouTube channel; this Video Question
bank is Very Valuable for Step1 and Step 2

• Dr.Mehlman will teach you how to approach USMLE Questions and Interpret them and will
teach you test-taking Strategies which is defective for most USMLE Examiners

• Do not Skip this Valuable Video Question bank; you will find all test taking Strategies
mentioned in this Video Question bank in his PDFS (HY Mixed review 1,2,3,4), this High yield
Mixed review Contain all test taking Strategies mentioned in this Video Question bank
6. Sixth Stage:-

• Go through Uworld Question Bank, I subscribed For one year, But I recommend subscribing
for two years. I know you will Finish Uworld in 2 years, the reason is to give yourself enough
time to study

• If your Question bank is still Not Expired and you finished two rounds, sell the rest of your
Subscription, you will find Millions of students want to purchase it, but If you Subscribed for
one year and your subscription was not enough to go through uworld two rounds you will
purchase Extension, So subscription for two years is better than buying Extension

• I did all Uworld Online 2 rounds, First round was Systematic and Timed, and the second
round was Random and Timed, Never Study with Tutor mood, always study with Timed Mode

• If you are unsure how to go through the uworld Question Bank, See this Playlist. Dr.Mehlman
will teach you how to go through uworld
http://bit.ly/3FR7wqU

• If you have time for AMBOSS, No problem. Do it, I did 1700 Questions from AMBOSS on
my weak areas, but If you do not have time for AMBOSS, Uworld is so enough to pass your
Step1 Exam, and do Uworld Incorrect in your weak areas

General Roles For Success in Your USMLE Preparation, whether you are preparing for
Step 1 or Step 2

1. Study The materials System by System Not Subjects, Do not Study physiology for all
Systems then You go to Study Pathology for all Systems this is Incorrect You must Study
System wise Not Subject Wise

The Question Is, How to Go through the Materials System by System?

• there is a specific arrangement You must Follow, It is mandatory to follow this arrangement;
watch this YouTube playlist for Dr.Dustyn William to know this arrangement, to go through
materials System by System
http://bit.ly/3Gf913L

Regarding Step1 this is the Sequence you must Follow

First Stage is Basic Topics, follow this arrangement Mandatory

1. Biochemistry (Molecular Biology To proteins, Metabolism, Genetics)

2. Cellular Biology
3. General Principles (General pharmacology, General pathology)
4. Immunity then Microbiology (use sketchy in Microbiology)

Second Stage is Organ Systems, following this arrangement Mandatory

1. cardiovascular system
2. Musculoskeletal then Dermatology
3. Gastrointestinal
4. Renal System
5. Hematology and oncology
6. Endocrinology
7. Pulmonary System
8. neuroscience
9. Reproductive
10. psychiatry (use Dirty medicine)
11. Ethics (use Dirty medicine)
12. Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Don't Start Studying Organ Systems Before Basic Topics

• let us Say you start studying Hematology Before Biochemistry; in Hematology, you will
Study Hematological Disorders like Anemia, a subtype of thalassemia. Most of those Disorders
are due to Mutations, so you will find Yourself can't understand those Disorders Because you
didn't study Mutations in Basic Genetics

• Some Hematological Disorders are complicated by secondary Parvovirus B19 infection, so if

You didn't study Microbiology, you would not understand those Complications you will end up
disappointed and overwhelmed

• You will Understand What I mean when you start studying, But For Now, Use this
arrangement. By then, you will understand why this arrangement is in the order I listed above.
Serve each other

• Dr. Dustyn Williams made this arrangement. To understand how this arrangement serves each
other, watch this Awesome playlist by Dr.William, Methods for Success
https://bit.ly/3dG6r7z (this playlist removed by Dr. William)

2. You Must integrate Mehlman PDF + Mehlman Question Bank on YouTube in your
preparation from the First Day of your practice, whether you are preparing for Step 1 Or Step 2,
it works for Step 1 and Step 2; Mehlman Will make your preparation Much easier

3. You Must Use Mnemonics + Space repetition (Anki) in your Study For USMLE Exams
(this Combination is Mandatory For all USMLE EXams and in your life in general); Anki
alone is not enough

• This article from the UWorld blog, This article shows you how mnemonics can help you
recall difficult un memorizable topics
https://bit.ly/3kPwcsY

• Anki alone will enhance Long term memory only

• Mnemonics alone will enhance Short term Memory

• The idea is mnemonics enhance short-term memory + using Anki enhances long-term
memory to Flatt the forgotten curve till information stick in your long-term memory

• For the summary, to better recall, use this combination ( Mnemonics + Anki )

• The best resource for Mnemonics in medical school is the Dirty medicine YouTube channel
https://bit.ly/3Dwl7nc

• I collect all his videos and organized them in this google drive
https://bit.ly/3WBTeBb

• Read my article on how to use AMBOSS effectively, how to subscribe to AMBOSS, and
more to learn

• How To join AMBOSS Ambassador Program

https://poly.work/ahmedemad/highlights/LO5nEYZ2

• how to use Anki alongside AMBOSS?

https://bit.ly/3YqxMA0

4. your preparation Period Must not Exceed 1.5 years For Step1, The Last 6 months of My
preparation I got Generalized Anxiety Disorder due to The long Period of my preparation (2
Years)

5. If you are Pregnant Or have a chronic Medical Condition, You can apply for test
accommodation

• You can take your Exam in 2 days + Double Break time + 1.5 times your Exam Duration, So
the total time will be 12.5 hrs for Step1 in two days

• I reached out NBME Disability service before my exam but the time was out to apply,I heard
about NBME Disability service 1 week before my Step 1 Exam

• read the reply of NBME Disability service to my Emails to learn how to apply for NBME
Disability service If you have Chronic medical condition or you are pregnant
https://bit.ly/3Zlxcnq

6. do not do anything alongside your Step preparation, Do not Do research or take research
Courses, and Do not work in Hospitals During your preparation

the reason is to avoid prolongation of your preparation period, If you did research alongside
your Step preparation You will not be productive in research Nor Step preparation So, be smart
Finish your Steps First then You can do research If you want, the main takeaway is (Do not Do
anything in the same time, Roma wasn't Built in one day, be patient and Organized, wisdom is
putting things in the right place)

7. Do not fall into the trap, Do not Book your USMLE EXAMS till you take NBME
Self-assessment and Score at least 60% Correct (Lowest Minimum passing score For Step1)

• If you Scored 60% Correct in your NBME Self-assessment For Step1, Start Booking your
Exam

• If you Fail Your NBME EXAM, No worries You just need to Solidify your knowledge base
and Concepts, In this Case, Most USMLE Mentors recommend going through your Uworld
Incorrect Questions again And everything will be ok
8. If your Eligibility period Started Stop Doing any Question Banks (Uworld, AMBOSS, etc),
Focus on NBMES + Mehlman PDFS

• To learn how to go through NBMES, watch this Useful playlist For Dr.Micheal Mehlman,
who will guide you on How to go through those NBME Exams
https://bit.ly/3PNPGtF

9. If You feel any Disruption in your Mode, Immediately Consult your Psychiatrist Tell him
you are preparing for USMLE Exam, and the psychiatrist will help you

• For me The Last 6 months of My preparation I got Generalized Anxiety Disorder due to The
long preparation period

• I felt Stiffness In my Back Muscles From the Cervical to Lumbar Muscles with severe pain +
Low energy and Fatigue

• after I took SNRI under the supervision of my psychiatrist my mode and Physical activity
Improved Dramatically, and Muscle aches Disappeared, So if you feel unusual things are
happening to you, Immediately Consult your Doctor, It is important to take care of your health
during USMLE marathon Exam

10. I recommend going through (The unlocking assessment series on the NBME website, this
Video series Provided by the NBME website, will teach you How to approach Exam Questions,
It is absolutely free
https://bit.ly/3FRgCDU

• Please note, You will get Questions in Your actual USMLE Exam in Topics Discussed in
these Video series, NBME make this Video series on purpose Not for Joking

• Your friends at NBME are Clevers Indirectly want to tell you to give your attention to the
Topics Discussed in this Video series because You will get Questions in those Topics In your
actual Exam

• If you master topics in this Video series, you will get some additional free points in your
Exam

• Also read the NBME Question Items writing PDF, in this PDF NBME Explaining how they
write their Questions

• it is very important to read this pdf to know how NBME think and write their Questions and
as you know your actual USMLE exam will be Identical to NBME Style questions

• Download the PDF here, NBME update and Publisher this PDF every January at the
beginning of every year
http://bit.ly/3WZ2Pm9

• How patients characteristics are written in NBME Exams

http://bit.ly/3XmxJoi

11. Do not waste your time with Kaplan videos, Dr.Najeeb Videos, physio Videos, golgan
audios, or Ninja Nedra

• USMLE Resources are endless and grow every day we do not have time for those folks, If
you Use the above Resources, Stop wasting your valuable time

We want to pass step1 as soon as possible, the resources I have Listed above are More than
enough to pass Step 1 as soon as Possible

12. Good mentor equals Success, your mentor may be your colleague who passed USMLE
Exams before you, or your mentor may be your professor in your medical School

• Do not Start Studying for USMLE Exams before you know your Mentor

• If you Struggled with anything related to USMLE preparation, ask your mentor will guide
you

13. The Week is 7 days, Study 6 days and take a break in the seven days, do something
different to enjoy your break, If you are Egyptian Student, you can visit the Egyptian museum
in Tahrir Square, the ticket is 10 Egyptian pounds, it is cheap break only 10 Egyptian pounds,
but you will enjoy

• If you Studied all the 7 days of the week, you will burn out easily, take a day off every week

14. Join groups related to USMLE Exams, you are not alone in preparing for USMLE Exams,
share your emotions in those Groups, you can share your Struggles in those Groups, and your
friends in those groups will support you

3. I highly recommend Exercising at least 3 times/ a week, Exercise is Excellent management

for your Stress You don't need to take any medications to reduce your Stress levels

• Purchase a good office Chair to be comfortable during sitting for Studying, I got a Dehydrated
Lumbar Disc Since December 2021, due to prolonged Sitting in hard chairs

• I withstood the Severe pain of Dehydrated Lumbar disc from December 2021 to December
2022 because I do not have time to undergo rehabilitation program due to my Step1 preparation
I want to Finish all the materials to catch my Exam Date, I will undergo Lumbar Spine
rehabilitation program Soon

• Study for 30 minutes then take 5 minutes break (Do Stretching exercises in those 5 minutes
then return again to study and so on)

• Never Sit for more than 1 hours, you will destroy your Spinal Cord if you Sit on any chair for
more than 1 hours, please take care of your Spine (I did this Mistake, So I want you guys to do
this in yourself, be kind to your body)

• I do not you to get Dehydrated disk this Chronic Condition Disrupted the all aspects of my
life, severe pain in Lumbar region, you can avoid this Complication by purchasing

30)

• What about NBME 25, 27?

• no worries, let me tell you Something those Nasty Fucking NBME 25, and 27 are the most
difficult NBMES ever, So let those Bugs for the end

supervision of your Doctor, Not under the Supervision of Your friend's recommendations

Back; some of you guys can Do this, ok it

3. Take all your Break time; if you Skip, Let's say, 5 minutes from your Break, those 5 minutes
will not be added to the next block, So be Clever and take all your Break time
