NOTICE

I. Definition:

A notice is a written or printed announcement


It is written in order to inform a large number of people about something that has
happened or is about to happen.

II. The format

1. Opening:
 Name of issuing authority: the reader can identify the importance.
 Title: NOTICE: make the attention of the reader
 Date: dd month, yyyy
 An appropriate Heading
2. Body: the main content of the notice
3. Conclusion: Name and designation of the notice writer and also be signed by
the same person

III. Content:

The five points that the content of the notice will cover

1. What: What is the notice about? The notice should be clear about what is
going to happen (event), or what has already happened (occasion). This is the
crux of the message and should be written clearly. There should not be any
ambiguity.
2. Where: If the notice is about an event, then the location of such an event must
be written clearly. The venue or the location are important details, so make
sure to include this in the notice.
3. When: This is the time and the date of the event or meeting. If possible the
duration of the event should also be mentioned to people can schedule their
time accordingly.
4. Who: This will be who the notice is addressed to. Who all are suppose to
adhere to the notice should be clearly mentioned to avoid confusion.
5. Whom: And final detail should be whom to contact or get in touch with. This
mentions who the appropriate authority is to contact.

Eg:
While walking in a park in your neighbourhood you found a small plastic bag
containing some documents and some cash.
Write a notice in about 50 words to be put on the park notice board asking the
owner to identify and collect it from you. You are Amar/Amrita 9399123456.

FOUND!

This is to inform all the readers that a plastic bag has been found in the
neighbourhood park. It has a few documents and some cash in it. The plastic bag is
red in colour and is medium-sized. It was found on February 27, at around 6pm near
the fountain in the park. The owner of the bag shall contact me on 9399123456 along
with an identity proof. Thank you
