INTRODUCTION:

“The Army is a uniformed service where discipline is judged, in part, by the

manner in which the individual wears the uniform as prescribed. Therefore, a
neat and well-groomed appearance by soldiers is fundamental to the Army and
contributes to building the pride and spirit essential to an effective military
force.”

A. GENERAL POLICIES

1. This Code defines military uniform policies and provides regulations for the usage and
prescription of uniform.

2. The military uniform, with appropriate insignia, is designed primarily to show at a glance
the branch of service and grade of the individual authorized to wear it. The uniform
represents visual evidence of the authority and responsibility vested in the individual. All
personnel shall stand at attention at the moment an oath taking takes place.

B. PURPOSE

1. Provide descriptions of all authorized military uniforms and components; and

2. Provide guidance for all military activities prescribing uniform wear in order to present a
uniformed image for the whole AFP.

D. DEFINITION OF TERMS

1. UNIFORM – The military uniform with appropriate insignia, is designed primarily to show at
a glance the branch of service and grade of the individual authorized to wear it. It is a
distinctive visual evidence of the authority and responsibility vested on the wearer by the
Government.

2. MILITARY UNIFORM – Standardized dress worn by members of the armed forces and
paramilitaries of various nations. Military dress and military styles have gone through great
changes over the centuries from colorful and elaborate to extremely utilitarian.

3. RANK – Status held by military personnel that empowers them to exercise authority over
other persons in the military service. It is divided into degrees of grades that mark the relative
positions and powers of the persons holding it.

4. INSIGNIA – Badges, medals, bars, chevrons, or other distinctive devices worn on the
uniform to show rank, organization, rating, service or honors.

5. AWARD - Derived from the old French word “ESTWAR” which means something that is
conferred or bestowed upon a person. It is an all-inclusive term covering any decoration,
medal, badge, ribbon bar, or attachment bestowed on an individual, anything tangible or
intangible granted to an individual in recognition of acts of gallantry or heroism, meritorious
services or skill and proficiency.

6. DECORATION – Originates from the Latin word “decoratus” which means the act of
adoring and honoring. An award bestowed on an individual for a specific individual act or
acts of gallantry or for meritorious service.

7. BADGE – An award to an individual for some special proficiency or skill, which consists of
a medallion hang from a bar or bars. An award to an individual for special proficiency,
occupational specialty, eligibility, training, schooling or outstanding achievements. It may
consist of medallion, disc, rectangular metal plate, wings or other shapes of metal.

III. ARMY UNIFORM

A. OFFICIAL AND AUTHORIZED UNIFORMS

1. Formal Dress

a. Army Mess Jacket is composed of the black white jacket,

black high waist trousers, white pleated dress shirt, black cummerbund
(sash). Male officers shall have the black jacket in their dinner dress
uniform while female officers shall have the white jacket as their standard
blouse. Headgear is Army Service Cap, Green Felt Cap for female
officers

Occasions for Wear:

1) Formal Evening Socials
2) When performing attaché positions
3) As prescribed by the Commander

b. Army White Duck is composed of white coat and trousers, white shirt and black
tie. Headgear Service Cap.

Occasions for Wear:

1) Weddings
2) New Year’s Call (Malacañang)
3) Oath-taking
4) Awarding Ceremonies as a Recipient
5) AFP Day when prescribed

2. Semi Formal Dress

a. Army Service Blouse is composed of coat and trousers, and

green long sleeve and a green four-in-hand necktie. Headgear Army
Service Cap, Green Felt Cap female officer.
Occasions for Wear:
1) Major Service Anniversary
2) Witnessing Honors for President/VP
3) Courtesy Calls
4) New Year’s Call at GHQ/DND

5) As maybe prescribed by the Commander

b. Army Bush Coat is composed of coat trouser and army green shirt. Headgear Army
Service Cap, Green Felt female officer.

Occasions for Wear:

1) Unit/Office Anniversary
2) Graduation/Commencement Exercises
3) Testimonial Parades
4) Social Functions (Lower than President/VP)
5) Send-off to the President, as directed by the
CSAFP
6) Funeral /Burial Ceremonies
7) As maybe prescribed by the Commander

c. General Office Uniform (GOU) is composed of green trousers and mint

green short sleeve. Headgear Oversea / Garrison Cap.

Occasions for Wear:

1) Acceptable as semiformal uniform and can

be used during social functions as prescribed by the commander.
2) Duty uniform for garrison or installation.

d. Battle Dress Uniform is composed of a camouflage coat, trousers. Headgear

beret/lousy hat, camouflage cap.

Occasions for Wear:

1) Duty when prescribed by the Commander.

2) Field training or combat
3) Parade during ceremonial activities
4) Red alert status

e. Athletic Uniform is composed of Olive drab green with Army marking printed on the left
breast, olive drab short pants with “Army” marking printed on the lower right
thigh, white rubber shoes and white Socks.

Occasions for Wear:

1) Off duty when authorized by the Commander

2) Physical training both on and off the military
installation
3) May worn in transit bet the individual’s common
quarters and duty station.

3. Other Uniforms

d. Military Police Uniform is composed of coat, trousers (BDU or GOU). Lanyard

white (Officer)/ Lanyard blue (EP) – shall be placed on the right shoulder
extending under the armpit. White Sam Brown Belt with complete
accessories, Holster with pistol, Brassard (EP) – shall be placed on the left
shoulder, Police nightstick, Brass whistle. Headgear Pershing/Service Cap or
White helmet liner with letters “MP”

Occasions for Wear: Duty assigned with the Military Police unit
or when performing military police activities or functions.

e. Army Gala Green is composed of green coat, white trousers,

service blouse, black sam brown belt (officer) / white belt with buckle
(EP), white gloves and aiguillette. Headgear Pershing cap / service cap.

Occasion for Wear: Authorized and official uniform of the

Security and Escort Battalion of the Philippine Army while attending or
performing ceremonial activities i.e. parade and honor. The Commanders
shall prescribe other occasions for wear of the uniform.

f. Army Gala Rayadillo Uniform is composed of light gray coat, dark gray trouser
and white gloves. Headgear – Katipunan Hat and Bustipol Hat.

Occasion for Wear: Authorized and official gala uniform

of the Security and Escort Unit of the Philippine Army while attending
or performing ceremonial activities, i.e. parade and honors.

a. Full Dress White under Arms is the official parade uniform of the Cadets Corps. It
is also worn during Saturday Inspections and honor guard ceremonies.
b. Full Dress Gray under Arms normally wear this during afternoon or evening
parades.
c. Full Dress White is used during formal ceremonies like awarding rites and in
attending mass services.
d. Full Dress Gray is usually used during formal occasions like formal hops,
Superintendent’s reception and Ring Hop ceremony.
e. Dress White/Dress Gray under Arms Cadets wear this uniform during silent drill
exhibitions.

2. Regular Cadet Uniforms

a. Dress White is usually worn during weekends, holidays and on Mondays and
Fridays.
b. Drill A is used during Corps drills, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Corps
jacket could also be worn with this uniform for added warmth during cold weather season.

3. Battle Dress Uniforms/Utility Uniforms

a. Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) worn during Wednesdays by the cadets.

b. Combat Uniform is usually worn during combat and field exercises outside the
PMA like the Joint Training and Field Training Exercises.
c. Fatigue Duty Uniform worn during fatigue duties like tree planting and firefighting
exercises.

4. Physical Training Uniforms

a. Athletic Uniform is normally worn during athletic activities.

b. General Athletic Uniform is usually used during athletic formations. When worn
inside the barracks, the uniform can be worn with slippers during the cadet’s free time.
c. Jogging Suits is worn during Corps squad practices and events especially during
competitions outside the Academy.

5. Special Uniforms

a. Dress Gray is the privilege uniform, entertaining and visiting uniform.

b. Study Uniform is worn during study period from evening call-to-quarters at 1900H
to tattoo at 2130H.
c. Picnic Uniform worn during picnics and cadet hops.
