Introduction
SAHAYATRA project has been implementing by Jan Jagaran Yuwa Club (JJYC) Bara for 42 months (Jan, 2021 -
May, 2024) under the leadership of VSO Nepal and funded by European Union (EU) in 8 municipalities of four
districts (Bara, Rautahat, Parsa, and Sarlahi) of province no. 2, Nepal. SAHAYATRA project ensures in
strengthening civil society organization for better resilient and inclusive education governance of Nepal. This project
aims to support inclusive quality education for marginalized girls & children with disability through resilient,
gender-responsive education governance enhanced by CSO engagement. The total beneficiaries of the project are
10,000 students (F 6,000; M 4,000) of 20 schools, who face difficulty accessing quality education and increased
vulnerability to violence and dropping out due to the pandemic. To ensure match in the SAHAYATRA project agreed
with EU, JJYC Bara is implementing Equal Access in Education (SAMATA) Project in leadership of VSO Nepal in
financial support of FCDO. The project activities are targeted in Bara and Rautahat district basically the schools and
community level interventions and and whereas palika and CSOs intervention are carried out in all 8 working
municipalities of Bara, Rautahat, Parsa and Sarlahi district.

 Personal Growth
Within this 1-year time frame big-sisters have found that
they have grown very much in their own. They now have
understanding of event management, Reporting and data
collection .
 Sanitary Pad
By conducting Awareness program on proper use of Sanitary
Achievement and pad in different community adolescent girls and women have
understand use of sanitary pads if not so they have learned
learning
proper use of regular cotton clothes during their mensuration .

 Improvement in School Environment and Student


Personal Hygiene
Various activities like tree plantation, Cleanliness program,
awareness on personal hygiene and hand washing has
create positive impact on school’s environment as well as
in personal health. Student nowadays come school with
better personal Hygiene.

Challenges Faced
 Stakeholders like Teachers, Youths and Parents are asking for allowance
and travel when they are called for awareness programs and youth
Mobilizations
 Project have limited resources and materials to provide but ratio of needy
primary actor is way higher which create conflict during distribution
 Head Teachers and Teachers have their own personal responsibility so
sometime working with them and collecting useful information and
documentation become difficult.
 Though Girls children are sent to school but burden of household chores
are not decreasing appropriately in community
Way Forward
Some physical support is required to schools because the project is increasing children in school and have no capacity to accommodate more children. Due to increment in Basic School Sabgadha Gaur Rautahat they are planning to reduce the class from 8-5.

It is essential to maintain the energy of the big sisters to make this project success so motivational scheme is required for them.
