England in the minds of Ukrainians
• For Ukrainians, England is fog, rain, monarchy, Big Ben,
Tower Bridge, double-decker buses and, of course, the
English language
England
• England is a country and administrative
unit of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland. England has land

country also has maritime borders with
Ireland and France. England is one of the

fascinating history, beautiful cities and rich
cultural traditions.

the formation of the Commonwealth of Nations. England became a
constitutional monarchy with limited powers of the monarch.
Contemporary England (21st century):

the start of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, England became a very

London
Coastline
• Coastline: 7,723 kilometers. The coastline varies from sandy beaches
in the southeast to rugged cliffs in the southwest.

Rivers
• Rivers: England has numerous rivers, the longest of which is the River
Severn in the west of the country. Other important rivers include the
Thames, Mersey, Tyne and Humber.
Islands
• Off the coast of England, there are several islands, including the Isle of
Wight, the Isles of Scilly, and the Channel Islands (Guernsey and Jersey).
Climate
• The climate in England is
generally temperate, with
mild temperatures and
relatively high rainfall
throughout the year. It can
be described as maritime,
with no extreme
temperature variations.

• England's countryside features a patchwork of fields, woodlands, and
villages. Hedgerows and stone walls are common in rural areas.
National Parks
• England is home to several national parks, including the Lake District,
Peak District and the North York Moors.
English traditions
• English traditions are a rich and diverse collection of customs, rituals,
and cultural practices that have developed over centuries in England.
These traditions reflect the country's history, values, and regional
variations. Here are some of the main English traditions:
• Afternoon Tea.
• Morris Dancing.
• Royal Ceremonies.
• Christmas Traditions.
Pub сulture
• The English pub, short for
"public house," is an integral
part of English culture. Pubs
are places where people
gather to socialize, enjoy a
pint of beer, and often
partake in traditional pub
games like darts or pool. The
sense of community and
camaraderie in pubs is a
cherished tradition.
Football
• No matter what kind of day it is, dry or rainy, cold or
hot, there are always people at a football stadium. TVs in
pubs will show the latest news related to the various teams
and leagues that inhabit England. Football dominates the
sports page of newspapers regardless of whether there was
a game that day or not. It is a large force in England.
Teams play weekly, sometimes twice or three times a week
and the games are followed avidly by fans. Rivalries run
hot and tension lives in the stadiums during game day. It
is a joy to see for someone who adores the sport.
Conclusion
• England is a land of captivating contrasts and timeless
traditions. From its rich history, picturesque landscapes,
and architectural wonders to its vibrant cultural scene
and enduring customs, England offers a diverse tapestry
of experiences for both its residents and visitors. It is a
country that seamlessly combines modernity with a deep
appreciation for its heritage, making it a place where the
old and the new coexist harmoniously. England is a
nation that beckons travelers to explore its iconic
landmarks, embrace its traditions, and immerse
themselves in its dynamic culture.
