Subject: Workshop 2 on Business Management
I. Summary
Workshop 2 is a quite special subject compared to other subjects at university.
For me, this is not really a subject but a seminar, where I can gain and absorb
valuable sharing, experience, and advice from those who have gone before in the
field I am pursuing. learn. This course lasts for seven weeks with 5 different
guests. The guests in this course are people who have achieved certain successes
and have at least 5 years of experience in the profession, so the lessons they share,
I will mention later in this article, are always valuable lessons. This is a required
subject for those who intend to major in Business Administration and I feel
extremely lucky to be able to participate in this class, because through this topic, I
will partly outline the Career guidance for those who are still confused, or lessons
for those who intend to start a business, or simply prepare to start a business.
II. Lessons Learned and Expectations
1. Lessons Learned
1.1. Success and the way to achieve it
The first thing that any of my classmates would agree on is that the guests are all
very successful and experienced people in their profession. They come from
different fields, in them I see their enthusiasm, tireless work and not refusing any
opportunity that comes their way. For example, the second guest is Ms. Thuong Vu,
she is a young businessman. She did not hesitate to share with us that in fact she did
not graduate with honors, but for her, relentless hard work and a clear plan are the
keys to her success, even if she is just a colleague. Although she founded a
company in Vietnam, she never gave up her job in Myanmar, because for her, any
opportunity should be accepted. Another successful example is Mr. Duy Pham.
What I am very impressed with this guest is that he is very young and is the
youngest among the guests of this course. He is an example of self-study, he
researched Data Analysis himself and especially the way he influenced his
colleagues was also very impressive.
1.2. Failure
In addition to successes, failures cannot be avoided during the work process.
Through a guest, I greatly admired the way she faced and handled that failure, Ms.
Duc Nguyen. This is a very special guest for me, the way she faces everything is
very positive, especially a failed event while she worked at Phong Vu. It was Phong
Vu's 24th anniversary, and she was in charge of this marketing campaign, but an
unexpected event, Covid-19, caused this campaign to fail as planned, but she she
still tried to keep the campaign going until the end and she concluded that she
would always have contingency plans in the future in case similar events happened.
1.3. Preparation
As I mentioned in the above section, careful preparation is necessary in business.
Ms. Duc Nguyen continued to show me the importance of preparation, as she
clearly understood the policies and laws in Vietnam, that's why she registered her
marketing campaign project 1 month in advance to beware of delays.
2. Expectations
To be honest, at first this subject was quite vague to me and I did not have a clear
picture of this subject. However, I hope to meet people who are willing to share with
me about their difficulties and how they overcame them, as well as how to orient
themselves because I am still quite vague about the my future. Among them was
Mr.Hung Nguyen, the first guest who gave very useful tests on personal personality
as well as EQ to help me have a more accurate view of what is suitable for me. And
especially I am very happy to have guests who are not hesitant about sharing their
difficulties while starting their jobs, Ms. Duc Nguyen and Ms. Thuong Vu. However,
there are also some points that I feel can contribute to this subject and I will mention
them in the next section.
III. SUGGESTIONS
1. Diversify fields
Out of a total of 5 guests, I saw 3 new guests talking about marketing and this is
another major of the Faculty of Business Administration. From my perspective, our
field of expertise is quite broad and we need guests from a variety of fields, which
will help us have an overview to consider and evaluate which fields are suitable with
us.
2. Age diversity
Because of the initial ambiguity, we haven't made a choice yet, and after interacting
with the guests, I think there should be diversity in age and generation of guests. After
graduating, we will work in an environment with diverse ages, and we need to interact
to understand their perspectives and ways of working.
3. Language flexibility
I know clearly that the rules for using English in teaching are mandatory, but from a
listener's perspective, I hope there will be flexibility in this case. Listening to a
language other than your mother tongue is difficult to maintain for many hours, easily
loses information and causes boredom for those who are not good at English, and
sharing in Vietnamese helps guests. and students interact more enthusiastically and
happily.
IV. FAVOURITE GUEST SPEAKERS
1. Ms. Duc Nguyen
I really like this guest because of the way she shares with us with a smile on her face,
and she doesn't hesitate to share about her failure in Phong Vu. In addition, she did
not come just to talk but also to listen, she was willing to hear our input. This is also
the guest I learned the most through her case studies about Vietnam's policy
regulations on marketing campaign registration, how she prepared and how she
helped us see things. see flexibility in the layout of convenience store chains for
example, the difference at 7-eleven is that there are necessary items for patients'
families because they are located at the hospital.
2. Ms. Thuong Vu
Maybe I like her partly because she is a senior in the same school. However not only
that but also because of the way she was open to all our questions, she even spoke for
a very short amount of time and left the entire time for us to ask questions, besides
She was even willing to help and share with us after the class, which made me feel
very impressed. I also admire her a lot in the way she manages her time between tasks
and the way she doesn't paint a rosy picture of the startup for us but instead shares the
truth.
