In recent months, ChatGPT has created a buzz.
For those who aren’t in the loop, ChatGPT is an AI
language learning model – or in simpler words, a
computer program that can chat over text.
It’s more sophisticated than your average AI; it can
answer complex questions, write a high school
English paper, compose song lyrics, and even create
code. The arrival of ChatGPT has left many workers
worried for their job security. AIs like ChatGPT are
likely to take over jobs in accounting, healthcare,
factories and transport: the AI can complete many
repetitive tasks, and learn to do new ones. This has
left many human workers worried that their current
jobs will become unnecessary.
There are many tasks that machines can do better
than humans: they have better memories, can
do maths accurately, as well as work with larger
datasets. But there are some tasks that are much
harder for machines to do, such as problem-solving,
complex decision-making, or leading a human team.
