THE PROBLEM

REALYN

A lot of technological devices developed in the modern day, and different

types of devices were invented in the modern era, and they also create different

types of applications that everyone can use in their lives. A lot of applications

invented and One of the most well-known social media platforms is YouTube,

created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. Where users may

download, watch, and exchange video clips on a wide range of topics. Film clips,

television shows, music and educational videos, blogs or video blogs, and

homemade videos are examples of such materials (De Witt et al., 2013).

REYMARK

Online videos, specifically those from YouTube, have been extremely

beneficial in our society today in every way. Some videos contain educational

content that helps students improve their skills and increase student engagement,

which in turn helps students achieve higher levels of success. A single educational

institution often produces instructional videos to disseminate cooking knowledge

to certain learning groups (2013). Senior high school students who study Home

Economics, particularly cookery, find online video tutorials useful for their

activities and for improving their cooking skills (Surgenor, Dawn, et al., 2017).

WELMER

Walden (2005), states in the study of Integrating Educational Technologies

into the Culinary Classroom and Instructional Kitchen in educational technology,

is a systematic, iterative process for designing instruction or training used to

improve performance [and] encourage wise use of systems, environments, tools,

products, and strategies that can enhance human learning and competence (p.1).

Herndon (2002), states that society has become dependent on technology, and

technological literacy has become imperative. Herndon (2002) asserts that:

Educators are responsible for teaching the necessary skills to become successful

employees and productive members of our society. For educators to accomplish

this task, they must provide opportunities for students to use technology during

the process of learning at the elementary level and continue through middle and

secondary school.

THEA

However, VanLandingham (1995), states that Historically, most cooks

learned through an apprenticeship system in which they worked under the tutelage

of a qualified chef. Franklin (1995), states: Every tool shapes the task…once a

kitchen acquires a Cuisinart, suddenly every dish calls for speedy slicing and

dicing and the cook sets aside old recipes…learning about the tool is important,

while the new technology may help to achieve it, traditional tools will sometimes

be of more tangible benefit.

CHRISTINE

According to Boshier (1999), the degree and form of mediation are useful

ways of summarizing technology and research issues. It can be summarized in

three types: Low mediation environments (Type 1), medium mediation settings

(Type 2), and high mediation situations (Type 3). In a Type 1 environment, the use
of technology acts as a supplement to traditional modes of instruction. In a Type 2

setting, the technology will often allow for asynchronous interactions. In a Type 3

situation, technology is an essential part of the educational delivery [and may]

lead to new ways [of] organizing teaching and learning.

MARK JAY

The paper aims to help the student enhance their cooking abilities, improve

their understanding of the cooking method, guide them in developing new

cooking skills, experience a unique cooking skill, and develop a more advanced

technical skill. Online videos help Home Economics students, especially cookery

students, improve their different cooking alternatives. That being said, the effects

of these instructional materials must be researched so that the cookery students

participating in this study are aware of how these materials can assist them to

enhance their cooking skills.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

This study aims to identify how cooking video tutorials affect the cooking

skills of cookery students at Tanauan Institute. Its specific goal is to find

answers to the following statements:

1. To identify the different apps where cookery students watch cooking video

tutorials?

2. To identify the differences between cooking video tutorials and cooking books?

3. What is the impact of cooking video tutorials on the cooking skills of Tanauan

Institute SHS students?

4. What social media platform does cookery students watch to learn more about

cooking?

5. How cooking video tutorials can help to enhance the skills and improve the

knowledge of cookery students at Tanauan Institute?
