CRONOS Administrator Training Guide
The Network Function provides capabilities for creating Address accounts that associate with offices, facilitating the management of office communications and data flows in CRONOS. By utilizing the 'Used for distribution' option, this function ensures that new addresses are included in the distribution processes, thus enhancing the efficiency and reach of message distributions across relevant networks .
The CRONOS system provides functions that are logically separated into several areas to enhance usability. These are Security, encompassing Users, Groups, Organization, and Session Options; System Options, which include System Options and Logo Image; Location, including Airports, Airspaces, and Countries; NOTAM Options, involving Notam Offices, Q-codes config., NOTAM Validation config., and NOTAM Proposal Config.; FPL Options, covering FPL Offices, FPL Validation Config., and FPL Proposal Config.; OPMET Options, which show Opmet Offices and OPMET Data Type Settings; PIB Options, detailing Distributions; Distribution services, which include NOTAM, ASHTAM, BIRTAM, SNOWTAM, OPMET, and OPMET Foreign; Network, covering Accounts Address Mappings; Database, which provides Stats, More Stats, and Retention; Aircrafts, including Aircrafts and Type Designators; Predefined Flight Routes; and Auditing Settings for NOTAM Options .
CRONOS administrators can configure predefined flight routes by utilizing the Predefined Flight Routes function. This function allows the creation of new flight routes, which are stored within the system to support the editing of future Flight Plans (FPLs). By having these routes pre-established, the system streamlines FPL editing processes, reducing the time and effort required for flight planning and ensuring consistency across operational procedures .
The System Options function plays a crucial role in integrating CRONOS with other applications by configuring the connection settings required for integration. Specifically, it allows CRONOS to connect to PLX (Planning eXtensions), a web-based solution supporting aeronautical information services and management, and IAM (Identity Authentication Manager), which centralizes user-related operations. This integration enhances CRONOS's capabilities by facilitating data processing workflows and centralizing user control .
The CRONOS system facilitates the distribution of messages through its Distribution function. This function displays a menu allowing administrators to select one of the available message categories, and then fill in a required address to submit the distribution settings. Upon submission, the system prompts whether to resend the stored messages to the new addresses. The key types of messages supported by CRONOS include NOTAM, ASHTAM, BIRTAM, SNOWTAM, OPMET, and OPMET Foreign Network messages .
The OPMET Options function supports message management in CRONOS by displaying tabs for Opmet Offices and OPMET Data Type Settings. Administrators can create a new OPMET office to be used for future message editing. Additionally, the system allows modifications of predefined types of OPMET messages by altering validation parameters to fit specific organizational needs .
CRONOS Administrator training emphasizes security management through a comprehensive focus on configuring Organizations, Groups, and Users. Training sessions include elements on New User permissions and verification, which ensure that users have the appropriate access levels and credentials. Verification of Distribution Lists of PIB is also highlighted to ensure proper access controls are maintained .
The CRONOS system's Location function supports the configuration of geographical data by displaying options that allow the configuration of airports, airspaces, and countries. This setup facilitates the accurate management of spatial and jurisdictional elements within the system, critical for aeronautical operations and data management .
The CRONOS system enables efficient database management by offering features that allow users to view system statistics, create reports, and modify the retention time of messages. These capabilities ensure that administrators can maintain optimal data management practices, effectively track system performance through detailed statistics, and control how long messages are kept within the system for compliance or operational purposes .
The CRONOS system offers auditing capabilities that register all operations performed by user accounts on the server. This auditing function displays user actions in a centralized window, allowing administrators to monitor activities comprehensively. Such tracking is vital for maintaining system integrity as it provides transparency, assists in identifying unauthorized access or anomalies, and ensures compliance with security protocols .
