Statement of Purpose

INTRODUCTION

I, Nishan Chhetri, son of Mr. Gyan Bahadur Chhetri and Mrs. Khag Kumari Chhetri feel
gratified to introduce myself as a Nepali citizen aspiring to improve my career in a global
environment. I was born on 29 th March, 2004 and I am a permanent resident of Baglung
Municipality, Ward No. 8, Baglung, Gandaki, Nepal. I am a Nepali citizen holding a passport of
number PA0451617 and citizenship number 50017700853.

I am looking for a befitting college in an international environment to complete my further

education that will help me achieve my goal in my desired field.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

I am a very hard working student who is very firm about my career. In the year 2019, I passed
my Grade 10, Secondary Education Examination (SEE) from Baudechaur Secondary School
securing 2.85 GPA. After that, I successfully completed Grade 12, School Leaving Certificate
(SLC) from Sigana Secondary School securing 2.31 GPA in 2021.

After taking some time for research, I thought of getting an international degree. So I prepared
for PTE and had appeared the test on 20th October, 2022. I was able to get overall score of 49
with listening 53, Reading 46, Writing 50, and Speaking 51.

WHY NOT NEPAL?

As a Nepali student, one thing that I know very well is that students studying in Nepal don’t get
as many opportunities as those who have international degree. Although I love my country very
much, I made the decision not to study here because of various reasons. The major reason for not
choosing to study in Nepal is because of the problems like political instability and nepotism.
Also, the education of Nepal is not as qualitative as in foreign countries. Professors are not well
experienced and they are not familiar with modern methods of teaching.

Since money is the primary requirement of today's world, students should be able to manage
financial matters for themselves through some sort of job. Unfortunately, Nepalese students are
not given opportunities to take their study and work side by side like other foreign countries. So
for these reasons, I would like to complete my education from Australian college.

WHY AUSTRALIA?

Through my research, I came to the conclusion that Australia will be my first choice to finish off
my higher education. Australia is one of the most culturally diverse nations with a large number
of international students which means I will be studying with many students from foreign
countries that will give some sort of comfort for sure. It offers many work opportunities that will
help student to manage their expenses.

Universities and colleges of Australia are top ranked in the world which means they provide high
quality of education. Professors are well trained and experienced for the better understanding of
students. The teaching methods are well updated. Besides quality education, there are plenty of
natural wonders that enhance the beauty of Australia.

WHY NOT OTHER COUNTRIES?

For my higher education in international colleges, I did some research on different countries like
UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and other European countries. However, Australia has been my
first priority.

Studying in Canada can be expensive because of the strong value of the Canada –based currency
or dollars. Moreover, the average temperature during winter can go down to -25 degree Celsius
due to which students find it difficult to stay in extreme weather.

In UK and USA, international students are facing more expensive tuition fees. In some cases this
is due to decision taken by individual institutions. For example the University of Oxford
announced earlier that international tuition fees will rise over 10 % for more than 40
undergraduate courses. Since New Zealand is an island, international students like me who go
overseas to study and work will feel somewhat isolated. In addition to this, the lifestyle of New
Zealand is quite expensive and it might be difficult to manage everything

WHY SYDNEY?

Sydney is one of the most popular destinations for international students. It seems to grow in
popularity as Australia's best city. It is a diverse, multicultural city making it easy to meet new
people and have new experiences. Sydney has a lot to offer. There are several employment
opportunities as a student.

Sydney is the capital of New South Wales and it is the most popular city in Australia and
Oceania. It is located on Australia's east coast; the metropolis surrounds Port Jackson and
extends about 70 km (43.5 mi) on its periphery towards the Blue Mountains to the west,
Hawkesbury to the north, the Royal National Park to the south and Macarthur to the south-west. I
like the sound of studying in great weather, with beautiful beaches and a relaxed vibe. Here are
some reasons why I have selected Sydney city for my education: The warm climate,
multicultural experience, an outstanding education, a land of opportunity, globally recognized
qualifications and courses, easily availability of public transportation, availability of valuable
resources and assistance. The reason why I am attracted to this country is because Sydney
universities are recognized globally for their academic research. Even in the world rankings,
Sydney’s universities are in the top 10.

WHY AUSTRALIAN TECHNICAL COLLEGE WESTERN AUSTRALIA?

For the sake of my career, I had to be very careful in choosing a suitable educational institution.
Therefore, I tried to explore some of the colleges and universities of Australia through research
and I found Australian Technical College of Western Australia as one of the best institutions.
The college has been providing quality services in the fields of Business, Management,
Leadership, Community Services, Information Technology, Hospitality, and Commercial
Cookery. The courses that it offers range from Certificate IV level to Graduate Diploma level,
thus, the learners have the opportunity to pursue their career goals by advancing their
qualifications according to their preferences. The courses that college offers are designed and
structured to meet students' needs with flexibility.

Likewise, the courses are delivered and assessed by highly skilled and industry experienced
Trainers and Assessors who are highly dedicated to supporting and mentoring students
throughout their learning journey with the college.

WHY DIPLOMA OF COMMUNITY SERVICES?

Regarding the selection of the course, I have selected to study Diploma of Community Services.
I have always been interested in learning social services and wanted to involve in the social
community work in my future. As a result, I opted to enhance my skills by enrolling myself into
the community services course where my interest lies.

Likewise, after completing this course, I will be gaining the skills in community services and
work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Also, after completing this
course, I will get a chance to register myself with the Australian Community Workers
Association. I will have the ability to involve in the managing, co-ordination and delivering of
person centered services to individuals, groups or communities after I finish this course.
Throughout the course, I will have specialized required skills to meet the needs of the
community services sector through working closely with a range of industry organization's and
health providers with access to the required level of support, facilities, and guidance for effective
management of cases.
FUTURE GOALS

Community service is the most effective way to make a good difference in the world by assisting
people in living happier and healthier lives. As a result, I have a strong desire to contribute to
society as a great and vital member through social service and community service. In the society
and nation, I wish to be recognized as a community service provider. I wish to improve the lives
of impoverished and disabled in our society. My ambition is to create a prestigious, peaceful,
helpful, caring, and respected society by persuading the public to respect their privacy, rights,
and decisions. For this, I will devote myself entirely to my own work and responsibilities. Upon
the completion of the course, I will apply for Post work study visa and utilize that period of time
and work in some of the community services sector in Australia and gain real time work
experience. My long term plan is to set up my own business in community services sector where
I plan to contribute for the betterment of my country and the people being the owner of the
community services company.

MOTIVATION TO RETURN NEPAL

In future, I would like to return Nepal after completing my higher education. I don’t have any
intention of staying in Australia. First thing, I have my family, friends and relatives here in
Nepal. They have been taking care of me for my whole life and it will be my responsibility to
look after them.

I want to get knowledge and skills from a standard institution and then utilize that theoretical
knowledge to help the less fortunate, and this aspiration will lead me back to Nepal. There is a
lot of room for me to grow as a community service provider in Nepalese society. There is a
significance chance of getting finest work opportunity in various INGOs and NGOs. There are
different portals in my country to find the job like [Link]
[Link] etc where I will be posting my CV, qualifications and work
experience gain from Australia. The internationally recognized Australian degree will serve as a
springboard for me to obtain employment in prestigious organizations such as USAID
([Link] WHO ([Link] INF ([Link] etc. The
prestigious INGOs offer the best job opportunities and pay scales ranging from NPR 70,000.00
to NPR 80,000.00 per month in the initial stage and gradually it will increase in the future after
working for few years. I will have better opportunities as an international degree holder in
comparison to other students studying in Nepal. All of these factors will prompt me to return to
Nepal after completing my school program in Australia.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS

As per the financial arrangement of my proposed education, my parents and my elder brother
will sponsor for my study in Australia. My father and my brother are working in an Indian Army
and have good annual income i.e. NPR 1,300,000.00 and NPR 780,000.00 respectively. My
mother and father have given their land on lease and are annually earning NPR 360,000.00. In
total we have an annual income of NPR 2,440,000.00 equivalent to AUD 28,159.26 from salaries
and land lease. Also, my parents have prepared an educational loan of NPR 4,000,000.00
equivalent to AUD 43,824.86 from Global IME Bank Limited, Baglung to pay for the
accommodation, education, resources, transportation, etc. In this manner, I guarantee you that
my parents and I will not face any financial complications during my temporary stay in
Australia.

CONCLUSION

Lastly, I hereby declare that the information given above is all genuine from my side. I am fully
aware of the condition and rules of Australia within my chosen institution and will sincerely
obey it and will not break any of the regulation imposed by Australian government to
international students.
