INTRODUCTION
Every letter or alphabet from A to Z has a number value from 1 to 9. As such
every name has a specific number of 1’s, 2's, 3's etc., repeated in his/her
name. There is an average, as regards the number of times a specific
number should be repeated in a name for a balanced character. If the
repetition of a particular number is above average the character of the person
is intensified with the properties of that number. If the over repeated number
has already appeared as one of the major numbers, there effect can be read
from the synchronization table in chapter 2.
If a particular number is repeated less than the average number of times then
the negative properties of that number are introduced in the character. If that
number has already appeared as one of the major numbers, a balance is
struck in the character. Otherwise it will remain a weakness in the character.
If a number is completely missing in the name it appears as a Karmic debt
which may or may not be balanced by the major numbers.
Two persons may be having the same destiny or talent number yet they may
behave entirely different because of the intensity of numbers in the name.
For example a person with 7 destiny and many 4's or 5's in the name may
be concerned with practical aspects of science, i.e. setting up laboratory,
maintaining instruments, collecting charts, appointing researchers and so on.
But another person with 7 destiny and many 3's or 7's or 9's in the name may
be interested in the discovery or invention in science rather than maintaining
the lab etc.

 Above average or below average numbers in the name represent the two
extremities which are responsible for unusual behaviours in life. That is why
we find that while on the one hand we have crime committed and divorces
fought, on the other we find selfless service to mankind.
The average quantity of repetition of numbers is as follows:

Thus for a balanced character, 1 should appear thrice in a name. More 1's
than three make the person strong-headed. Similarly less 1's than three
make the person deficient in will, initiative and determination. 2, 3 and 4
should appear once in a name. 5 may appear three or four times for a
balanced behaviour. 6 appearing more than once is a strong characteristic.
7 may be missing in many names, since the power of analysis and a high
sense of perfection is not a common trait. Hence even one 7 in the name
makes the person proof-demanding. 8 may be missing but its appearance
even once gives the power of organization and ability to meet difficult
conditions. More than one 8 is a strong trait. 9 is normally repeated thrice,
making the person compassionate, tolerant and forgiving. Less 9's show the
lack of these qualities. More 9's show generosity to the point of sacrifice.

 Karmic Debt: Absence of 1’s completely in a name is rare, but whenever it
happens it affects life very seriously. The person has not learnt
independence and standing on his own feet in his previous life.

As such he lacks confidence, ambition and decision-making. He is governed

by decisions of others and may feel pressurized and uncomfortable. He must
learn to be independent and develop his own decision-making and ambition.

Above Average: Four or more 2's in a name make the person very
emotional, adaptable, considerate and helpful, sensitive and possessed with
inferiority complex or fear of others. Good sense of rhythm and music,
collection of details and appreciation of arts. 2 being a feminine number, too
many of them result in an effeminate nature which may reflect on the family
and friends. Two or three 2's have the properties just mentioned to a lesser

More than one interest can result in lack of concentration on any particular

 Below Average: Having no 3's is a Karmic debt showing lack of self-
expression and optimism in past lives. He is likely to have an inferiority
complex, lack of confidence and uncomfortable at social gatherings. Creative
imagination, romance and popularity are likely to be absent unless other
numbers are supporting. He will face problems with self-expression unless a
methodical development takes place.

Above Average: Four or more 4's give tremendous impetus for hard work,
organization and provides a foundation for significant accomplishment of
work through practical approach. This is a period to share good times with
in-laws nevertheless there are problems of in-laws to be shared.
Two or three 4's produce the same effect as mentioned above to a lesser
degree yet significantly. There is a strong urge for practical approach but
one should not become too rigid.
Below Average: No 4's in the name represent a Karmic debt showing that
the person avoided hard work, organization and practical approach to details
in the past lives. Circumstances will demand concentration and practicality
which may be compensated by 2's, 6's and 8's. If he is strong in 1's, 3's, 5's
and 7's hard work and concentration can be a problem for him. Limitation
may be irritating unless he decides to take the challenge.

versatile and resourceful but restlessness, lack of application and too many
irons in the fire can result in works left incomplete or unaccomplished. High
living with drinks, food and sex can lead to problems. There is lack of
domesticity.
Five or Six 5's give good versatility and resourcefulness. There can be good
success in legal and public works or in salesmanship. Excessive freedom
and impulsiveness should be avoided.
Below Average: One or two 5's indicate lack of understanding of others and
fear of facing the world. Adaptability should be developed, rigidity avoided

exercised - may be detrimental to himself. At the same time there are very

Three 6's give a good sense of responsibility, helping others and a balanced

person was not interested in duties and responsibilities in the past lives.

material gain. Research, printing and publishing are also avenues of
success. Life is generally hard, non-domestic and more often-than-not there

Below Average: No 8's in the name show lack of interest in materialism in
the past life. Lack of self-control, dependence on others and not
understanding the value of money can lead to problems in life, for example
a divorce. He should learn to be practical in his judgement and give

Karmic Debt: Absence of 9 completely in the name shows lack of concern
for others in the previous lives. The person may be selfish and unforgiving.
Circumstances may be there to bring disappointments and separation unless
he learns to care for others with love and forgiveness. The situation is rare
but significant whenever it appears.
Care should be taken not to condemn a person if a particular number is
missing in a name. It may be found in some other positions. Most people

some deficiency in the complete chart, indicating an unusual happening.
There might also be an experience to undergo in the table of events to be
discussed later.
Sometimes one particular number out of nine numbers may be outright
prominent. This then will act like a Major Number and is indicative of the extra
energy in that direction. The whole character of the person may be coloured

since her second and third name both come to a total of 5, and above all, the
outstanding intensity of 5 because of seven 5's in her name. She has a
burning desire for freedom for self and for everybody because of 2 Destiny.
She became a freedom fighter for the rights of humanity. Special intensity of
5 made her extremely versatile, resourceful and working on new ways.
She became a threat to the government and was exiled from the country.

Living true to all the numbers, let us look at the analysis. A 3 Destiny and 3
Heart gave him double energy in the form of self-expression and gift of
words. This coupled with the group (2, 6, 9); 2 Birth, 6 Habit, 9 Personality;
made him extremely emotional, sensitive, compassionate, tolerant and
philanthropic. These are the ideals for which he stood in the world.
Now if we look at the quantities of numbers repeated in his name, we find
three special intensities:
1 (seven 1's) giving him extraordinary initiative, determination and
leadership. The negative aspects of over-emphasized 1 are nullified by the
tolerance, compassion and selflessness of the group (2, 6, 9).

Limitations and rigidity of 4 are nullified with the abundance of the double 3
energy.
8 (three 8's) giving extraordinary power of judgement, organization and
philosophy.
All these extraordinary qualities made him the person called Mahatma
Gandhi, the Apostle of Peace.
An important thing to be remembered here is that the quantity of numbers in
the name is not proportional to letters in the name. Whether a name is very
big or very small five 4's or six 1's will have the same effect. Thus, the above
two examples of outstanding cases have very big names. Nevertheless, the
importance of small names like Margaret Thatcher and Indira Gandhi is well
known to the world.
However, the over-emphasis on numbers may increase the positive effect or
negative effect. Experience of dealing with the multitudes of names suggests
the following facts.
Excess of 5, 7 or 8 multiplies positivity.
Excess of 1, 2 or 9 multiplies negativity.
Excess if 3, 4 or 6 multiplies both positivity and negativity.
Of course much will depend on numbers at major positions and elsewhere.
THE TEMPERAMENT
The forces or energies represented by the Major Numbers are most
important and form the basis of description of a person. Nevertheless, how
is he going to use these forces must be known. As discussed before, two
people with 7 Destiny may behave entirely differently, although both may be
representing the aspects of 7. For example, one of them with a practical
temperament may be interested in setting up a scientific laboratory, sale and
purchase of instruments and so on. The other person having mental or
intuitive temperament may be interested in research and concerned with a
discovery or invention.

As another example, two persons with 6 Talent Number may behave
differently. One of them with a practical temperament may be interested in
setting up a home and looking after the family. The other person with an
emotional temperament may be interested in setting up the ideals of love,
marriage and enjoyment. Yet another person with 6 Talent but an intuitive
temperament may be interested in the spiritual unfoldment of the self.
Someone with a 6 Talent and completely physical temperament may be
interested in gardening, horticulture or keeping a zoo.
The temperament is fourfold, according to the four divisions of a man - body,
mind, heart and spirit. The degree of balance between these four
components is the temperament of the person. Thus, the four planes of
temperament are:
Physical — represented by body and concerned with material aspects,
practicality, system and order, physical adventures, economical use of
resources, not inclined towards imaginations and fancies—rather down to
earth, a builder.
Mental — represented by the mind and concerned with the reason, logic and
facts. Thinking, using the positive states of mind, application to business
matters, political affairs, calculation with imagination, and executive ability
leading to power and position.
Emotional — represented by the heart and concerned with emotions,
feelings, affection, imagination, inspiration, creativity and artistic
endeavours. Facts (physical) and reason (mental) are overruled and
coloured by the sentiments. Actions are motivated by love, sympathy, beauty
and fancy.
Intuitional — represented by the spirit and concerned with inner awareness,
non-materialism, religion, psyche, compassion, prophecy and worship. Facts
(physical), reason (mental), and sentiments (emotional) are overruled and
coloured by the 'inner guidance'— divine wisdom and revelation.
The method to calculate the relative importance of these four planes is
based on assigning numbers to them.
The physical plane is recognized by the numbers 4 and 5 since 4 is practical
and material while 5 has to seek the support of 4 for its success in the

the physical Hence the letters D, M, V and N, E, W in the name
plane.
The mental plane is recognized by the numbers 1 and 8 since 1 is
imaginative and deterministic while 8 is logical and executive representing
the power of mind. Hence the letters A, J, S and H, Q, Z in the name belong
to the mental plane.
The emotional plane is recognized by the numbers 2, 3 and 6 since all of
them are concerned with the heart and with emotions, feelings, imagination,
inspiration and sensitivity. Hence the letters B, K, T; C, L, U and F, 0, X in
the name belong to the emotional plane.
The intuitive plane is recognized by the numbers 7 and 9 since 7 is analytic,
scientific and meditative while 9 is imaginative, impressionable, philanthropic
and sensitive. Both numbers work with the inner guidance. Hence the letters
G, P, Y and I, R belong to the intuitive plane.
According to the letters in the name we score on each of the four planes and
then we make a relative study of them. Highest marks on a particular
plane indicate that the person will use most of his forces represented
by the Major Numbers with the consciousness of that plane. Second
highest score would be the next and so on. Few marks or a '0' on a particular
plane does not mean that he lacks the power of that kind but he does not like
to work with the consciousness of that plane. Let us look at the following
examples:

The highest marks are 11 on the physical plane. Consequently Professor
Mugo believed in physical activities. She gave a practical shape to her 2
Destiny supported by 4 Talent. She used to go to several places, meet many
people, and work with organizations to establish peace and happiness for
the common masses. She used to get intuitive flashes to work on her plans
(I=6). She was emotional too (E=5) concerned with the poor and
downtrodden with lot of compassion and tolerance in her heart.
Example 2 In the previous section we also worked out the name of
Mahatma Gandhi with the following analysis:

plane. With a double 3 force (3 Destiny and 3 Heart) he had emotional energy
and purpose in life. He achieved his peaceful goal with the will, determination
and initiative through the mind and with physical activities of the highest
order. He did not work for the emotions with an emotional or intuitive
temperament but with a mental and physical temperament.
He was a Law graduate from England and worked as a Barrister. But this
was not the mission of his life. Overwhelmed with emotions (2, 6, 9) and
double 3 energy he resigned as a barrister and worked for the peace of
mankind. He planned his actions mentally and executed them physically
without giving vent to his emotions at all. After his success is South Africa
through satyagraha he was encouraged and introduced the same in India,
till he saw its independence in 1947.

cases. Accordingly, there is a flow of energies in the different directions.
Again there are two aspects - the relative importance of the four planes; and

plane, the person is likely to be famous or infamous for these ideals. Thus,
on the physical plane, Richard Speck became infamous for physical
murders, (ex. 17), on the mental plane Rabindranath Tagore got Nobel Prize
for literature (ex. 4), on the emotional plane Elizabeth Taylor became a
Hollywood Star for acting (ex. 15) and on the intuitional plane Yukteswar Giri
set the ideals of spiritual knowledge (ex. 14).
Many a time love and friendship develop so easily and so fast because of
common scores on a plane of temperament than for common Major
Numbers. There seems to be much in common according to the similarities
in character, so much so that the effect of Talent, Destiny or Ultimate
Numbers can be subdued.
The procedure should be to read the plane first and then the score on
it. An emotional number on a physical plane is likely to make the person less
serious with regard to system and order (ex. 17). A mental number on the
physical plane is likely to colour physical activities with will, management
skill or philosophy (exs. 2 and 5). An intuitional number on the physical
plane is likely to promote activities for humanity and higher cause (exs. 1
and 11).
A physical number on the physical plane is the correct situation - the person
should be tenacious, hardworking, setting the ideals of system and order
(exs. 3, 4, 7 and 8). Similarly an emotional number on an emotional plane
would be ideal, bringing the best out of the person in a positive way as in the

Planes of temperament express so well the state of mind of a person that
you can easily guess his problems on the one hand and the degree of
greatness on the other. Comparing the planes of temperament and perhaps
taking help from the synchronization table in chapter 2 you can infer whether
they will be loving, friendly or indifferent to each other. The suitability to
marriage for example or for a particular job or mission can be easily seen.
This can help in the selection of a worthy candidate for a particular situation
and at the same time avoid future problems.
The second very important use of these planes is that the degree of
greatness of a person can be found out. There are two ways to find the
relative importance or significance of the life of a person - the highest score
on any plane of temperament and the double energy given by numbers and
the table of intensity. The approximate barometer can be formulated as
follows.
The bigger the score on any plane of temperament, the higher the talent and
energy is present on that plane for the accomplishment of the work. The
person is likely to achieve greatness in the same proportion, provided of
course that the forces of other numbers and points of intensification in
the name are in support. Thus we can have the following indicators:

The other scale of greatness is through the double forces due to
repetition of numbers in major, minor and points of intensity positions.
The double force shows the existence of 'extremely heightened energy' in

but there is also a lesser share of negative multiplication. Hence the person
is likely to be famous as an administrator, leader or businessman but there
might remain a blot in his character or the all-round picture.

greater multiplication of negativity. The person may be on the path of fame but
finally he may remain infamous due to selfishness, unforgiveness and for not
having worked for the cause of humanity. There cannot be a better example than

Conclusion: You know now the tools and methods to analyze the character
of a person completely. You should always rely on the meanings of numbers

The synchronization clearly tells you whether two numbers in the name

Many 3's and 8's can make an 'artistic philosopher' or a ‘philosophical artist'

Many 3's and 9's and for that matter 2's and 9's can make a good artist,
talented person or spiritual man provided there is a strong support from other

Many 8's in the name is a strong force. It will make a good administrator,

on major positions. Not supported by other numbers it can result in a
stubborn personality guided by negative forces.
Many 9's can bring success on artistic, philanthropic or spiritual lines of work
depending on the support of other numbers. Jiddu Krishnamurti (ex. 13) had
five 9's in his name supported by 11 Destiny and 7 Heart resulting in inner
illumination. Not supported by other numbers, it can result in a disappointed
life due to personal desire for love, money or popularity.

TWO PERSONS HAVING THE SAME NAMES

Whenever such a situation arises there will be many characteristics common
in the lives of two persons. Yet many differences in the character and final
achievements will be there due to difference in month, day or year of birth
and hence in the Talent and Ultimate Numbers.
However, there would be rare situations when two persons are found to have
exactly the same names and exactly the same dates of birth. In such cases,
not only their character should be the same but the events of their lives
should also be the same. Whatever minor differences may be there it would
be due to different times of birth on the same date. It is a pleasant surprise
that the life of such two persons is found to run exactly parallel to each other.
The following examples will illustrate the facts:
Example 1 Jenny Randles (1985) reports the following case in her book
Beyond Explanation:
Patricia Kern (of Colorado) and Patricia di Biasi (of Oregon) discovered this
truth when a mix-up in a computer gave them the same Social Security
Number. This resulted in the two coming together during 1984. Both women
had been born Patricia Ann Campbell, with fathers named Robert. Both have
worked as book-keepers, have studied cosmetics and love to paint with oils.
Both married military men within eleven days of each other in 1959. Both

 have children aged twenty-one and nineteen. And, of course, the two entirely
unrelated women were born on March 13, 1941.
Such a curious state of affairs is not at all rare. Were you to search hard
enough for another person born geographically close to you on the same
day, you might be surprised at the similarities in your lives. The effect is even
sometimes noticeable when the year separating the two people is different
(but the date is the same). I hardly need point out the comparisons in the
example of famous horror movies actors Vincent Price and Peter Cushing
who demonstrate this situation.
Example 2 Marks and Spencer plc. (1984) present the following case in
their book The Unexplained!
On the evening of 28 July 1900 King Umberto arrived with his aid in a
restaurant in Monza, where he was due to attend the athletics meeting the
next day. With astonishment, he noticed that the proprietor looked exactly
like him, and he speaking to him discovered that there were other similarities.
The restaurateur was also called Umberto like the King, he had been born in
Turin and on the same day and he had married a girl called Margherita on
the day the King married his queen Margherita.
He had opened his restaurant on the day that 'Umberto I' was crowned king
of Italy. The king was intrigued, and invited his double to attend the athletics
meeting with him. But the next day at the stadium King's aid informed him
that the restaurateur had died that morning in a mysterious shooting
accident. And even as the king expressed his regret, he himself was shot
dead by an anarchist in the crowd.
Example 3 Yet another striking similarity concerning names and dates of
birth is stated as follows. On 27th May, 1817, 20-year-old Mary Ashford was
found dead, apparently murdered, at Erdingham. On 27 May 1974, Barbara
Forrest aged 20 was strangled and left in long grass near the children's home
in Erdington at which she was a nurse.
That in itself is perhaps a remarkable coincidence, but not more. It is when
one examines each case in detail that the identical factors begin to
proliferate. Both in 1817 and 1974 Whit Monday was on 26 May. Barbara
Forrest and Mary Ashford had been raped before being murdered and their

 bodies were found within 400 yards (360 meters) of one another, death
taking place at approximately the same time of the day. It would appear
(though there must be some doubt about this in the case of Mary Ashford)
that there were attempts by the killers to hide the respective bodies.
Both the coincidences do not end there. Both girls had visited a friend early
in the evening of the Whit Monday to change into a new dress and then go
to a dance. After each murder a man was arrested—and in each instance
his name was Thornton. To round off this narrative of astonishing parallels,
both men were charged with murder but were acquitted. It was when the
police were checking through archives after Barbara Forrest's death that they
came across full reports of the murder of 1817 and noted these similarities
with amazement.

INTRODUCTION
The major and minor numbers, the points of intensity and the planes of
temperament define the talents and potentials of the person and the type of
opportunities he is likely to get in life. Hence the lessons learnt in the Divine
Course for the perfection of the soul to achieve liberation from falsehood.
There are other subtle forces of nature working around us which knowingly,
or unknowingly make us do things with no plausible explanation. For
example, a man who is successful in a particular line of work suddenly gives
it up for another career; or a man going through failures suddenly comes into
power or recognition.
These forces are very important and no one can be saved from their
influences, whether he is an enlightened man or an ordinary person. The
difference is that the realist takes the changes with a welcome and makes
them a glorious part of the accomplishment. On the other hand the ordinary
person calls it fate and does not understand the reason behind.

BIRTH FORCE PERIODS

According to the date of birth of a person, his/her life is divided into the
periods which experience influence of the subtle forces shaping their
development, progress and retirement in that order. The first period is
coloured by the number of the month of birth, the second period is coloured
by the number of the day of birth and the third period is coloured by the
number of the year of birth - each reduced to a single digit or the master
number. The first period starts from birth and goes upto 25 to 26 years of
age, the second period goes upto 50 to 52 years of age and the third period
goes upto the end of life. Of course the transition takes a couple of years.
That is, the influence of the first period may start fading 2/3 years before the
age of 25/26 years and the influence of the second period may take 2/3 years
to be fully developed and become fully effective. The same applies to the

THE PINNACLES
Completely independent of all the past calculations are the four pinnacles
into which the life of a person is divided. A number found on each pinnacle
is the signpost of the kind of 'circumstances and opportunities' through
which the individual has to pass. His potentials and talents (YOGAS) will be
directed towards the opportunities (DASHAS) offered by the pinnacle and
the person will act according to the circumstances (GOCHAR) offered by the
number on the pinnacle. These are the four Main Roads of the life on which
the person travels with all his tools in hand, one after another.
First Pinnacle: The first pinnacle is the number obtained by adding the
number of month and day of birth. It starts from birth and lasts for the
number of years obtained by subtracting the Talent Number from 36.
Number 36 represents 4 cycles of 9 years each. Number 9 is the span of
natural development of the person, for example, 9 months in the womb of
the mother. It is the number of revelation. The first pinnacle ends on 31st
December of the year in which the person completes the age equivalent to
the duration of first pinnacle.
The first pinnacle represents the period of development of the young one
which lays the foundation for the future.
Second Pinnacle: The second pinnacle is the number obtained by adding
the number of day and year of birth. It starts on 1st January of the next year

completion.
Third Pinnacle: The third pinnacle is the number obtained by adding the
numbers of first and second pinnacles. It starts on 1st January of the year

The third pinnacle represents the second part of the middle age, which is the
age of progress and production though on a decline and partly a preparation
to live the fourth pinnacle.
Fourth Pinnacle: The fourth pinnacle is the number obtained by adding the
numbers of month and year of birth. It starts on 1st January of the year next
to the end of third pinnacle and its duration is the rest of life. The life on the
final pinnacle will depend much on the preparation made on the second and
third pinnacles. One can enjoy the rewards of hard and worthwhile work done
on previous pinnacles or suffer for the negative actions of the past in this old
age. It is like earning a pension.
The influence of the new pinnacle can be felt slowly from the middle of the
ending year, increasing every month in equal proportions. While the
influence of the previous pinnacle may not last more than about a month in
the new pinnacle.
The Challenge and the Pinnacles run parallel - first challenge timed with first
pinnacle, second challenge timed with second pinnacle, and so on.

Birth Force period gave her courage to pull on. Accordingly from age 30 to
39 she had a job but relations in official and personal life were a bit shaky.
The third part of her life from the age of 39 onwards was governed by the
specialized 7 (III pinnacle - 7) with strong likes and dislikes but lacking the
initiative and will due to 1 challenge. Under the pressure of the impersonal
Event Number 9 (to be discussed later) her personal life was going from bad
to worse until the separation from her husband came in 1987, that is in the
40th year of her life.

0-0-0, an outstanding challenge endowed with the properties of 9 -
forgiveness, tolerance, philanthropy or spirituality - either nothing or
everything.
The fellow worked hard throughout his life, building and sacrificing, married
four times but never had a settled home due to love of duty and sacrifice (6
Talent). A professor of mathematics, widely travelled in the world, meditated
for several years and finally wrote a book on spiritualism and enlightenment,
showing ways to achieve liberation from falsehood, living upto the ideals of
his Maturity Number 3.

and further enforcement as the outstanding challenge of 3, he must have
been an extraordinary artist, writer, spiritualist or a saint if the energy was
directed in the proper way. Unfortunately, too much energy in one direction
without self-control and proper guidance resulted in murders one after
another.

 It should be noted that all the persons in the above three examples have the
same 6 Talent but their final achievements differed due to difference in
pinnacles. Practical pinnacles as in example 2 above, are responsible for
system and order in life, without which energy could be wasted for no gain.

Nobel Laureate King also had too much energy in the direction of 5 but he

concentrate his energies in a scientific way. The outstanding challenge 2
required him to develop cooperation and love of humanity with a touch of
spirituality. However, he had the third Karmic Pinnacle 16/7 from age 44 to
53 during which he paid the debt gracefully.

 Pinnacles are the Main Roads through which the individual passes with
all his tools in hand. The fulfilment of the Destiny depends a lot on the
circumstances and opportunities provided by the Pinnacles. Interpretation of
the numbers appearing on various Pinnacles is given in the following table.
1 Pinnacle
I. The young one is likely to face circumstances and meet with opportunities
which will require him to show his individuality and stand on his , own feet
without showing resentment or egotism. The commencement period may be
difficult without help but with the advancement of age the person will learn to
use his will, determination and initiative leading to attainment.
II/III. Will, determination and initiative are likely to bring attainment of power
and position depending on other numbers.
IV. There is no retirement but opportunity to work and gain importance on
personal ideas.
Karmic 19/1: On any pinnacles is likely to bring problems due to
aggression and egotism or lack of self-confidence. The person may be
found struggling for freedom.
2 Pinnacle
I. The young one is likely to face the problem of oversensitivity, required to
be cooperative and submissive he might be frightened of others. He may not
express himself properly and may need the help of his mother or other
relatives. He may have to live away from one or both parents for one reason
or other. He will have to learn to live with others, be diplomatic and cash in
on his qualities of collecting details and precision.
II/III. Partnerships, associations, care not to hurt others and work with less
recognition and maintaining fair dealings are the factors which can lead to
success on the one hand and avoid separation, divorce etc., on the other.
Philosophical and religious thinking is likely to bring good results.
IV. The person can retire in old age or work in a peaceful and harmonious
atmosphere for a higher goal. He can make a practical use of his sensitivity
by developing on cooperative, philanthropic or spiritual lines of work.

Pinnacle
I. Circumstances are likely to promote artistic and imaginative work but
without proper training the young one may waste the opportunities in
enjoyment and pleasures of life. Efforts should be made to direct the talents
towards worthwhile applications otherwise in the end one will regret it.
II/III. Due to advancement of age, the person may curb his desire of
extravagance and wasting time in pleasures of life alone. It is likely that a
positive use of the potentials will be made through speaking, writing, acting
or any other artistic ways to gain prominence. However, love affairs are on
the high score which may be enjoyable or hurtful, especially for women for
being carried away. Socials, travels and entertainments are the high-lights.
IV. The person may enjoy the pleasures of life, live a retired life or make
worthwhile use of his artistic and creative faculties in old age.
3 Pinnacle
I. Circumstances and opportunities will emphasize system, order and use of
practical ideas. The young one will respond to the situation and lay a good
foundation for the future. Due to the responsibilities of relatives or otherwise
he may go to work early in life and sometimes marry early in life.
One has to be practical facing the realities of life with little time for pleasure
and enjoyment. There may be limitations of time and money but tenacity and
hard work sow the seeds for future rewards.
II/III. Building and organizing the person is likely to get rewards of hard work
in the form of accomplishments. Limitations of money and slow progress may
sometimes cause irritation.
IV. There is no retirement but work to be done in the old age. Many ideas
which could not be given a practical shape earlier have chances of
accomplishment now. Someone not used to hard work before may find the
last difficult.
Karmic 13/4: On any Pinnacle indicates too much work to be done and
responsibilities to be carried with very little freedom. Feeling of resentment
or rigidity can multiply the problems while a cool analysis can ease the
situation.

Pinnacle
I. The Young one is likely to pass through circumstances which make him
restless, changeable and lacking application. With the advancement of age
however, he will learn to deal with public and changeability becomes a part
of accomplishment. Five is the number of progress and advancement.
Finances are uncertain with ups and downs, yet no work stops for want of
money since there is an enforcement from somewhere. There is freedom,
variety, little responsibility and no domestic life. One feels dragged into public
life which may or may not be comfortable for women especially.
II/III. Much progress can be made depending on adjustment with
changeability and fluctuations. There is a sense of freedom and relaxation
especially if one had passed through a hard pinnacle before. One should be
very careful in dealings otherwise there can be legal complications.
IV. There is no retirement but continuation of work with changes and
fluctuations. There is involvement in progressive undertakings. A hasty
action must be avoided.
Karmic 14/5: On any Pinnacle indicates difficulty in selecting the right
opportunity from amongst many. Wrong choice, inability to profit from past
mistakes and/or too much interest in pleasure of life and sex lead to
dissatisfaction and serious problems.
4 Pinnacle
I. The circumstances are likely to give duty and responsibility to the young
one causing limitation and sometimes an early marriage which should be
avoided. Nevertheless there is love and protection and good financial
support from the family. However, care should be taken not to take too many
responsibilities since they may last very long in life. With the advancement
of age; love affairs, domesticity and humanitarian service come into the
limelight. Business and money can be made well.
II/III. Money, success and recognition follows the careful acceptance of
duties and responsibilities and selfless service to humanity. Love affairs,
care of family and business matters are the salient features of this
progressive period.

 IV. A happy retired life, a happy married life with pleasures of home and/or a
life with humanitarian service getting recognition are the possibilities in old
age.
5 Pinnacle
I. The circumstances may put the young one into problems due to lack of
finances, lack of friends and relatives or due to strictness of the parents. He
may feel lonely and repressed. Bad health can be one of the reasons. Care
should be taken of him by the parents to bring him out of this situation. With
advancement of age he is likely to become studious, analytical, scientific and
specializing in some line of work. Given to isolation, he may not feel much
interested in marriage or materialistic things although money comes in a
quiet way.
II/III. Truthful living, concentration and specialization in some line of work are
likely to crown the person with the glory of achievement. There may not be
much materialistic gain but necessary money and connections with the
higher-ups are likely to be there. There can be problems in partnerships and
marriage due to lack of interest in this direction.
IV. The person is likely to be living in isolation and solitude and devoted to
either some scientific or inner development of the self or perfecting some line
of specialization in old age.
Karmic 16/7: On any Pinnacle is likely to make the person appear indifferent
and unapproachable. Due to selfishness, hidden motives, misunderstanding
or repression etc., the things can be more serious. It may become difficult to
maintain relationships in business and/or personal matters. Separation is
probable if care is not taken.
6 Pinnacle
I. The circumstances may put the young one to work early in life like the 4
Pinnacle sometimes as a matter of business and sometimes as a support to
the family. There may be feeling of limitation in the beginning but slowly he
is likely to gather courage, ambition, judgement and finally recognition
through his executive ability, depending on other numbers. There is material
gain and/or a sound basis is laid down for future accomplishment.

 II/III. Judgement of people and events, non-emotionality, endeavour and
repeated efforts are likely to lead the person to success in business, or
recognition for any activity using intelligence and organization or
philosophical work. There is chance to become an important person and
attain material gains, depending on other numbers.
IV. Either business management, some kind of organizational activities or
philosophical studies are likely to engage the person in his old age.

7 Pinnacle
I. Nine is the number of selflessness and philanthropic activities which are
not easy for the young one. He may be involved in a love affair or marriage
or some kind of work which is soon accomplished. It may leave some
bitterness behind but it can be a good experience for successful artistic,
dramatic or humanistic endeavours in the future based on selflessness.
There can be many experiences, good or bad, travels and financial ups and
downs.
II/III. Several affairs and experiences in personal life, coloured with emotions
and drama are likely to be there. Personal love and selfishness are bound to
result in disappointment. High morals, compassion and philanthropic bent of
mind can crown the glory with artistic, dramatic or spiritual achievements,
depending on other numbers. Although it is not easy, but giving without
expectation of return can do wonders.
IV. There can be retirement in old age coupled with artistic, philanthropic or
spiritual activities giving peace and light to the people at large.
11 Pinnacle
I. The circumstances can make the young one emotionally confused and
quite sensitive making it difficult for him to behave normally at the start of life.
There is little advancement on the material front and help from relatives may
be necessary. With advancement of age, philosophical or spiritual interests
are likely to develop.
II/III. Difficulties are likely to be there in the material world but a possibility of
philosophical or spiritual advancement is there. Much will depend on other

be there.
IV. Spiritual achievements or retirement are the possibilities in old age.
22 Pinnacle
I. It may be difficult for the young one to behave normally at the start of life.
With advancement of age there may be control on the nervous tension and
development of the capacity to handle projects in the material world.
II/III. Balance between emotional feelings coloured with spirituality and
desire and capacity to handle big material projects will be the basis of
success in the progressive and productive age. There is a touch of idealism.
IV. Big material projects are likely to occupy the person in old age and it
may be difficult to find rest.
Summary
The experience of working the charts of many people will tell you that each
one has a different set of four pinnacles. Some of them may be starting life
with an easy pinnacle like a 2, 3 or 6 and a difficult pinnacle like a 4 or 8 later
on, and vice versa. In the first case the person may find it difficult to face a
practical pinnacle after living an easy life. In the second case it may be
relaxation after long hard work. The fourth pinnacle being easy shows
retirement in old age while other numbers indicate work to be done.
Normally there are different numbers on different pinnacles showing the
variety of experiences in various parts of life. In some cases the number may
be repeated. For example, Roshan Singh (ex. 2) born on November 2, 1937
has the Pinnacles 4, 4, 8, 4 requiring him to be practical, systematic and
hardworking throughout life in spite of his easy and artistic nature (6 Talent)
and comfortable 6 Destiny. Such are the hands of nature which force the
person to channelize himself according to the pinnacles.
He would have loved to become an artist, writer, etc., but the pinnacles
brought him to work and face the realities of life and made him a
mathematician. However, his ultimate Number being 3, he could express
himself as a writer and enjoy the pleasures of life in the later age.

 On the other hand there could be a person with a practical talent 4 or 8 forced
into artistic work due to pinnacles 3, 6 or 9. Hence it is important to see the
pattern of pinnacles and then look at the major numbers as tools to shape
his life. Whatever the talents and whatever the desire of heart may be, the
person will have to live the life dictated by the Pinnacles. A realized person
will make it the glory of accomplishments while an average person may call
it fate or misfortune and curse nature for the same.
Let me remind you once again that each one of us has come here on earth
to learn a particular lesson, this life being one of many already lived and yet
to be lived till we achieve the perfection of soul. And then the soul is liberated
from falsehood of attachment with relations and materialistic things of this
world. The Cosmic Intelligence is guiding all activities for the betterment of
the Universe and each one of us has to play the assigned role in a dignified
way.
THE CHALLENGS
Last in the series of Major Numbers is the Challenge Number which shows
the negative aspects of the associated number especially in the beginning of
life. It may show itself in various ways, for example a bad habit, a repelling
attitude towards others or a negative experience. A person may accomplish
the work but may not be able to present it successfully or may not otherwise
get the true reward because of some small fault. This fault is the challenge
which is overcome in many cases with a strong will and determination. And
then the recurring situation is not an obstacle, rather it provides opportunities
for growth and for accomplishment on the positive side of the number. It
becomes an asset if rightly understood and taken advantage of in the
situation. Otherwise, the lack of understanding can make life unhappy due
to the rebellious attitude towards others.

The whole of one’s life is divided into four parts called Pinnacles which will
be discussed later. The four challenges correspond to the periods of four
pinnacles in that order. Before finding the difference the master numbers
should be reduced to single digits. Different names have different
challenges. The most common challenges found in the names are I and 2.
Less frequently we find 3 and 0. Still less frequently we find 4 and 5 and the
last in this order are 6, 7 and 8. There is no 9 challenge but 0 has the
properties of 9 here.

Example I presents ‘mixed challenge’ that is four different challenges in four

different parts of life. This case is not so common and it means no special
talent for the individual.

Example 2 presents the case of an ‘outstanding challenge’, which is 2,

occurring twice. The person will have the negative traits of 2 in the beginning
of life and when recognized and developed he will have the positive traits of
2 as a special talent for the rest of his life. The person is likely to be shy, timid
and sensitive to criticism in the beginning. He may need the support of
relatives and friends for the development of his personality. When developed
the person may have the special talent as a cooperative worker, a diplomat,
a writer or as a spiritual leader.

 The ‘0’ challenge is a special one. It may appear as single, double or as a
complete challenge — a 0 on all the four places. In example 3 the person
has 0 as main challenge working from birth till death. It is not an easy one.
The person has to exercise his choice — either drift along in life dictated by
circumstances or to rise above the seeming problems and achieve greatness
on any endeavor suited to the talents of 9. When recognized and developed,
such people can be really prominent on any philanthropic activity in the
service of mankind.

If the Challenge Number has already appeared as a Major Number or as a

point of Intensification, it means that although the person has the qualities of
that number, he should further cultivate them for success. If it is a new
number, it is a special talent which can be used as the additional tool for
success. You will find, knowingly or unknowingly how often the situations in
life recur which demand the use of this special talent for success. You will be
surprised by its frequency, especially if it is a complete challenge and it is a
promise of an outstanding success when recognized and developed. The
meanings of challenge numbers are given briefly in the following:

1 Challenge Number: The person will be under the influence of negative 1,

that is, he may find himself being dominated by others, held down by
relatives and meet opposition in early life. He should avoid resentment and
head-strong action which may lead to greater problems. Diplomatically he
should avoid being dominated as well as not try to dominate himself.
Understanding the need of others and the self and using will, determination
and originality of thoughts the weak link can be converted into the positive
talent.

2 Challenge Number: The person will be under the negative influence of

2, that is, he may be shy, timid, fearful and lacking self-confidence in early
life. He should try to overcome the feeling of subordination diplomatically and
convert the negative aspects of sensitivity into the positive ones. Using his
natural talents for collecting and perfecting details and cultivating harmony,

3 Challenge Number: The person although bestowed with the talents of

imagination creativity, art, gift of words and speech will not be able to use or
express them because of shyness, fear or repression by others in early life.
He should try to become a good conversationalist, try to get on well with
others and express optimism in his talents at social gatherings. Hurtful words
should not be spoken. Gradually he can gain popularity, success in romance
and in any field of art, writing, painting etc., when 3 becomes a positive talent
for him.

4 Challenge Number: The person may not be able to accomplish Work on

his hands with seriousness and tenacity of purpose or he might be careless
or rigid in early life. There is work to be done and he should develop the
capacity to work hard with purpose, be practical and farseeing and use
patience and steadfastness. Slowly, he can bring out his gifted talent as a
builder and give practical shape to his hidden idea, desire or concept and
accomplish marvels.

5 Challenge Number: The person is under the influence of negative 5 in early

life, that is, he may not be able to cash in on the opportunities around
because of restlessness, changeability, or over indulgence in drink, food and
sex. He may be struggling for freedom but impatience and resentment can
complicate the issue. He should select and pick up the right opportunity at
the time and grow on the line with responsibility. Gradually, he will develop
the positive side of 5 talent that is, versatility and constructive freedom and
he can accomplish things on any public line by using his resourcefulness.

6 Challenge Number: The person may pass through a challenging situation

in personal life involving family or love affairs in early life. He may have the
desire to dominate, insist on high standards, avoid responsibility or behave
with intolerance and self-righteousness. He should pay attention to the view

 point of others and try to develop the attitude of humanitarian service which
is hidden deep in his nature. Gradually he can develop the positive side of 6,
that is, appreciation of others, teaching, impersonalism, soothing and healing
etc., and then there can be happiness in domestic affairs.

7 Challenge Number The person may feel lonely and separated from others
because of his reservedness, too much pride or unexpressed feelings and
this is likely to be a big test in early life. He should learn to be helpful to others
and cultivate the hidden talent of analysis, understanding and separating the
real from the false. He should have faith in his abilities and gradually perfect
himself through study and learning in the field of specialisation. He can
accomplish marvels in technology, education, philosophy of life, spiritualism
or the occult.

8 Challenge Number: The 8 challenge is normally associated with a 0

challenge before or after it and it is not an easy one. The person is likely to
be more concerned with material accumulation as compared to other
aspects of life in the earlier years. Of course there is an opportunity to gain
power and authority provided it is associated with the higher cause or for the
good of others. ft is advisable to cultivate a philosophical attitude and use
proper judgement of people and events. Opposition and frustration can be
encountered successfully if a balance is maintained with realities of life.

9 Challenge Number: There is no 9 challenge possible as such, but 0

challenge has the effect of 9. It is an extraordinary challenge meaning either
nothing or everything. The person has to make a decision. In spite of
everything around the person may feel emptiness in life according to his
mentality or desire. But if he rises above the existing conditions with will and
meets the problems he can create his own world in any direction from 1 to 9.
The help of nature in the form of background force is present. Using
tolerance, forgiveness and love and working for the good of all on any
philanthropic line outstanding success is a promise. Many great people are

 found to have a complete 0 challenge. A 0 challenge indicates a warm soul,
and love of mankind waiting to be developed for a great cause.

The art of synchronization is to be used again. If the challenge number is the

same as one of the Major Numbers, the things are not seemingly bad. It only
means that if the challenge is recognized and cultivated, the Major Number
can be made further strong and useful. But if the matching Major Number is
a Karmic Number, life is likely to be very negative and hellish. The intensity
can only be reduced through will and determination and an attitude to take
suffering as a part of life and getting used to its recurrence. The price has to
be paid. If the Challenge Number is a new number it will be an obstacle on
way to success. But if recognized and developed, it can prove to be an asset.

THE PERSONAL YEAR

Nine is the number of completion and the life of each individual runs through
Epicycles of nine years duration each. These nine years comprising an
Epicycle are named from one to nine as the First Personal Year, and so on
to the Ninth Personal Year. The events in life as well as the personal
development of the individual begin in the First Personal Year and come to
end in The Ninth Personal Year. And then the new Epicycle of nine years
begins again with events and development of personality.
Here again the set of events and development of the personality begins in
the First Epicycle and is supposed to be complete in the Ninth Epicycle. The
height of events being in the middle, i.e. the Fifth Epicycle which coincides
with the Second Pinnacle of nine years exactly year by year. Not all people
live until the completion of nine Epicycles and some people live even more
than that.
The events and development of personality move from First to Ninth
Personal Year in the following manner:
1 Personal Year
There is a sense of beginning, an opportunity is hidden, plan and begin, take
chances without being afraid but avoid head-strong action. There is a test of

 character and courage and you have to show your individuality and
assertiveness. Make changes, reorganize without being impulsive.
Opportunity lost this year will come again only after nine years.

2 Personal Year
There is a sense of cooperation, and sharing, harmony and diplomacy are
needed for success. There is nothing new to begin and one should be
prepared for slow progress with delays etc., and patience is necessary.
Aggressiveness can bring disappointments. You may not get recognition and
feel subdued yet cooperate and stay in the background and wait for next
year.
3 Personal Year
There is a sense of happiness, optimism and self-expression. This is the year
of self-improvement and you should put your best foot forward. Use
imagination and creativity in a constructive manner. This can be the happiest
year of the Epicycle. There are friends, travels, entertainment, love affairs
etc. Do not waste energies—projects can be completed and recognition can
be gained.
4 Personal Year
A sense of practicality, system and order prevails, and a base can be
secured for a good future using plans of the previous year. Problems, minute
details and relatives in life should not be neglected otherwise disappointment
is bound to follow. Avoid feelings of limitation and do not get irritated on
slowness of results. Be rational with finances, take care of your health and
that of your family. There is something you will achieve by the end of the
year.
5 Personal Year
There is a sense of changeability, excitement and adventure. There is
opportunity with the new and unexpected. Difficulties may be removed and
there may be a change in the work for the better. Quite often there is travel
and/or change of residence and/or change of family conditions. There is a

 newness even in the old situation. Be versatile and try to cash in on
resourcefulness. Scattered energy can bring disappointment.
6 Personal Year
There is a sense of duty, responsibility and domestic life. Service and care
of the family members, parents or relatives, harmony; sympathy, light
sacrifices and balance bring happiness and success. On personal level there
may be romance, love and a desire to settle home affairs which has a strong
possibility. Others may try to impose responsibilities on you. Good chance

7 Personal Year
There is a sense of inner development and a desire to specialize in one's
line of work or talents. Introspection puts a small break between the activities.
You may like to avoid crowds and socials this year and may concentrate,
analyze and meditate. This may lead to realization and new lines of
awareness. There is a waiting this year and a feeling of loneliness and
detachment. Repression should be avoided. Recognition can be gained for
specialization of work.
8 Personal Year
There is a sense of material advancement, ambition, action and
accomplishment. This is the year to reap the fruits from the beginning,
planning, building and introspection done in 1 to 7 Personal Year. Using
dynamism, judgement and organization with the opportunity present there is
a chance to gain recognition and improvement in power, position and
material possessions. Being practical, avoiding sentiments and being helpful
to others is sure to be crowned with success.
9 Personal Year
There is a sense of completion, fulfilment and closing of an experience. The
finish should be made glorious. Certain things, conditions or people may
appear to be drifting out of your life, because they are no longer needed for
further development. Avoid the feeling of loss or resentment, be tolerant,
compassionate and unselfish. This will bring the highest rewards. Love
affairs and dramatic experiences are likely to be there. But clinging to

 something and becoming personal can bring disappointment. This is the year
to ‘let go off’, the tide is over, there is no beginning of new ventures.
Calculation and Examples
The personal year in a particular Current Year is obtained by adding the
month of birth, and the day of birth; bath reduced to single digits; to the digit
of the Current. Year.
Example 1: Muriel Flora Rice was born on November 19, 1947. Her
personal year in the year 1985 was found to be as follows.
November 19, 1985
11/2 + 1 + 23/5 = 8 Personal Year
Thus in the Year 1985 she was passing through the 8th Personal Year of the
Epicycle, under the Pinnacle 4. Hence the connection would he on
management, organization etc., to achieve material gain, power and
position. Number 4 and 8 working together may increase the ego and head-
strong action against which precaution must be taken. Furthermore, the year
1985 had its influence on the number 5 (1+9+8+5=23/5) which showed that
the general trend of world events was towards freedom, expansion,
knowledge and public activities. The synchronization table would tell that 5
and 8 were not harmonious. As such that year was likely to be quite difficult
for Ms. Rice and there could be problems.
Example 2: Roshan Singh was born on November 2, 1937. His personal
year in 1990 was given as follows:

Thus in the year 1990 he was passing through the 5th Personal Year of the
Epicycle, under the pinnacle 4. Numbers 4 and 5 had the common
denominator 'practical work' under the 5th personal year which gives
freedom, expansion and knowledge. The progress may suffer to some extent
with the limitation of 4, but the trend of world events in 1990 was guided by
initiative, will and determination of 1. Consequently Mr. Singh was likely to
make progress based on his talents of 6 according to the opportunity

personal year in the Current Year 1970 was calculated as follows:

In the Year 1970 the world trend was guided by the number (1+9+7+0=8).
Mr. King was passing through 6th personal year of the Epicycle in the 9
pinnacle. The common denominator of 6 and 9 was art, pleasure, impersonal
attitude and humanitarian service under the general influence of organization
of the 8 current year. His double 5 energy (5 Destiny, 5 Heart) always
provided exuberance with constructive freedom leading to philanthropic
achievements in the 6th personal year.
Summary
Two persons born in the same month and on the same day but in different
years will have the same personal years in a particular current year.
The effect of the previous personal year may linger on for about two months.
As such the real effectiveness of the present personal year is normally seen
from the month of March onwards. Similarly, the effect of the present
personal year may start fading some two to three months in advance. Hence
the full effectiveness will be seen until the middle of October every year.
The personal year in the year of birth is the same as the talent number
because the year of calculation is the same as the current year. Hence when
the person is born he is already passing through the personal year of his
talent number. For example Roshan Singh born in 1937 was passing through
the 6th personal year (6 Talent) of the first Epicycle. He lived only three more
years that is, less than four years all together in the first Epicycle.
After three more epicycles of 9 years each he completed the first pinnacle at
the age of 30 years (3+3 x 9 = 30). The second pinnacle coincided exactly
with the fifth Epicycle in the age 30 to 39 years. Only a person having 1
Talent Number will be passing through the first personal year when born. He

complete
will thus live nine years of first Epicycle and the next
Epicycles to make the First Pinnacle in 36th Year of his life. three
The fifth Epicycle, that is the second Pinnacle, is the climax in the life of a
person as far as his own development is concerned. He is supposed to be
at the height of his physical, mental, emotional and intuitional development.
The span ranges from age 27 to 44 years (9 talent: 36-9=27: II Pinnacle is
27-36; 1 talent: 36-1=35: II Pinnacle is 35-44). It is this age group in which
Buddha (36), Christ (33), Muhammed (39) and most of the liberated people
experienced illumination.
After the second pinnacle the energy is on the decline. However, in some
cases the full development can go as far as the age of 54 years as in the
case of Swedenborg who got illumination at this advanced age. The famous
Pythagoras married at the age of about 63 and was said to be in the prime
of his youth at the age of about 99 when he was murdered. Of course, these
were the powers of yoga and meditation. As a general rule, most of the
scientific, artistic, dramatic, social or philanthropic activities are crowned in
the age group of second Pinnacle or fifth Epicycle.
In each Epicycle the ventures begun only in the First Personal Year will
develop year by year coming to fruition in the Eighth personal year and then
slowly closing dawn as a matter of fact in the Ninth Personal Year. And again,
the First Personal Year in a 4 Pinnacle with 2 Birth Force Period will have a
different constitution to the First Personal Year in a 3 Pinnacle and 6 Birth
Force Period. Furthermore the Third Personal year for example, will have
different kinds of imaginative artistic, or intuitive outputs in different
Epicycles. The nature of each Personal Year being the same, the output will
depend on so many other factors.
Between husband and wife for example, the husband may be passing
through the 5th Personal Year and hence interested in changes, movements,
and public activities. The wife may be passing through the 7th Personal Year
and hence interested in resting, introspecting and preferring aloofness. The
two will naturally disagree with each other lifestyle in that year and there may
be discords or problems. But if they understand the reason behind it,
harmony can be set up.

Similarly when dealing with the children the parents should encourage the
child to use his own ideas in the First Personal Year, sharing and co-
operation in the Second Personal Year, use of imagination and artistic outlet
in the Third Personal Year, and so on. They should remember that the child
will respond to law and order in the Fourth Personal Year but not in the Fifth,
in which he will need freedom and would like public activities.
Whenever a Master Number represents a personal year there are some
additional influences. 11 Personal Year has all the effects of 2, but in addition
to that, it has heightened sensitivity leading to occult or spiritual interests for
inner development. The person would like to cooperate not for material gains
but for the use of intuitive ideas. 22 Personal Year has all the effects of 4,
but in addition to that, it has the likelihood of important projects leading to
material gain and recognition provided it concerns the good of all and there
are no selfish motives.
THE EVENT NUMBER OR ESSENCE
Various Major and Minor Numbers, the Temperament and points of
Intensification, the Pinnacles and Epicycles etc., tell about the forces working
behind the person. The final outcome of everything i.e. the happenings and
experiences in business matters, love affairs, education etc., are told by the
Table of Events or Essences. Everything working on a person finally boils
down in the form of Events which can be calculated and read for the past,
present and future.
There may be two, three, four or more names of a person. Each name
operates on the life of the person independently. But all of them work
simultaneously like a rosary of beads and their cumulative effect produces
Events. The numerical values of letters in each name are to be added and
reduced to single digits. These digits represent the span of time the different
names work over and over again. For example,

33 years. Having undergone the experience once, it starts again at the age
of 33 and operates till the age of 66 years for the second time. And again the

The second name Flora likewise operates in the cycles of 25 years and the
third name Rice operate in the cycles of 26 years. The cumulative effect of
all three names is calculated for each year which gives the type of Event
experienced in that year.
The numerical value of a letter represents the 'nature of the event' as well as
the 'period in years' the event is to last. For example A has the value 1 which
means that the activities of type 1 will take place for a period of one year,
whenever the letter A appears in life. Again, M has the value 4 which means
that the activities of type 4 will take place for a period of four years, whenever
the letter M appears in life.

operating from birth till the age of 9. The common denominator for M, F and
R is 4 years. Hence for the first four years she is under the cumulative
influence of M, F and R. The total of their numerical values is called the Event
Number or Essence. Thus
M + F + R = 4 + 6 + 9 = 19/1 Event Number
At the age of 4, U of the first name starts operating while F and R of the
second and third names, respectively, still continue. Hence we have
U + F + R = 3 + 6 + 9 = 18/9 Event Number.
Since these three letters U, F and R will continue for one more year in
common, the same Event Number 18/9 operates in her life at the Age of 5.
Then, at age 6 the letter F of Flora will complete its period of 6 years and the
next letter L will start operating for three years, while the letters U and R will
still continue. Hence at the age of 6 we have.
U + L + R = 3 + 3 + 9 = 15/6 Event Number
The whole process is put in a systematic way in the Numerical chart in
conjunction with the Personal Year, Current Year, Birth Force Period and the
Pinnacle as follows:
The Numerical Chart: The chart is a comprehensive picture of all the
calculations with name and date of birth at one place. Analysis of character
and past, present & future should be done as complementary readings since
the two are interwoven with each other. All calculations must be placed on
one single sheet of paper so that every aspect of the life of the person is
before your eyes and a relative study can be made. We proceed as follows:
Step 1: Calculate all the Major and Minor Numbers, points of intensification,
planes of temperament, pinnacles and challenges and arrange the pinnacle
numbers with age groups they belong to.
Step 2: Write the calendar year of birth on the first line and then the
successive years till the point of interest, say ten years.
Write the age of the person below the calendar year on the second line
starting with '0' under the year of birth.

repeated equivalent to its numerical value.
Write the second Name on fourth line as above.
Write the Third Name on fifth line as above. If there is no third name proceed

values of the letters appearing in each calendar year. This is the end of part
one of the chart which can be marked with a double line.
Write the Personal Year on the next line.

Write the pinnacle on the next line. This is the end of the chart which can
be marked with a double line again.
Step 3: Check that the Personal Year at the time of birth and the Current
Year are placed under '0' age. The Personal Year and the Talent IN umber
are identical in the year of birth. The Second, Third and Fourth Pinnacles
always begin with the First Personal Year.
Draw Vertical lines whenever there is a change in letter, Event Number or
Essence, Birth Force Period and the Pinnacle.
Analyze the character, look for specialties like Double Energy or Force,
Points of Intensification and Planes of Temperament. Establish the salient
features of the personality,
For grown up persons, only a short term chart is necessary with about five
years in the past and five to ten years in the future. The shorter the period of
study the deeper the analysis. The main course of events is given by the
Event Number or Essence in conjunction with the letters, Personal Year,

Pinnacle and Birth Force Period give the 'general class of activities' with
which the Event Number should be synchronized for the final outcome. The
result is pleasant if the Major Number or Special Force of character is in
coincidence or harmony with the Event Number and the Pinnacle. The
disharmony in numbers is likely to result in unpleasant outcomes.
The letter R of Roshan operates till 9 years of age and then the next letter 0
operates from age 9 to 15. Similarly for the second name the first letter S
works on him for 1 year only and then 1 starts from age 2 and goes up to
age 10, and then the next letter N starts working for five years. As such, he
is born with the Event 10/1 which lasts only one year. For the next eight years
he is under the Event 18/9, and then under 15/6 for one year.
At the age of 10, i.e. from November 2, 1947 he was under the grip of Event
Number 11/2 and under the overall influence of B.F. Period 2 till 25/26 years
of age. He was suddenly separated from his parents and made to live with
his grandmother in another city for further studies. This was a heart-breaking
event for him and he was emotionally disturbed with nervous tension for a

From the age of 40, i.e. since November 2, 1977 he has a new direction of
affairs due to letter N = 5, giving new opportunities and freedom while the
obligation of letter 0=6 continues to involve him in domestic responsibilities
on one side and opportunity for business expansion on the other. The Event
Number 11/2 is operating from Nov. 2, 1977 to Nov. 2, 1982, a long period
of five years which must have a strong impact on life. Non-materialism of
11/2 was amplified by the Period 2 under the Pinnacle 8 (39-48) which stands
for materialism, power and position. Accordingly, there was loss in
materialism, power and position. An official enquiry was set up against him
and he was suspended from his job in 1979. This brought him loss of position
both in official and domestic circles.
However 0 and N are both favourable for business expansion under an 8
pinnacle. Accordingly, he got a breakthrough in the 5th Personal Year, i.e.
1981 which stands for expansion, freedom and movement. He got an offer
from abroad and left India in October 1981. In the new position he was well-
placed and his position, authority as well as material well-being slowly started
increasing with the effect of 11/2 fading away.
From Nov. 82 to Nov. 83, he was under the influence of Event Number 8,
Personal Year 7 and Pinnacle 8 which gave him a very strong position with
research activities (7) and material well-being (8). He was further supported
by the new forces of letters S = 1 and G = 7 in 1983 which were responsible
for his gaining an important position.
From November 2, 1983 he came under the influence of Event Number 15/6
for a long period of six years which should again have a strong impact on

 life. Please note his Double Energy 6 (6 Talent and 6 Destiny) under the
Pinnacle 8 with point of intensity 8 (having two 8's in the name). Common
denominator for 6 and 8 is business improvement, philosophical
advancement and material happiness.
He had them all during these years. Continuing with the teaching at the
University successfully, he took to meditation seriously in 1983 and was
devoting time for spiritual pursuits from two to three hours every day. Please
note that the Personal Year and Current Year are at a difference of 4 in the
Third Pinnacle (39-48) which shows suitable growth with the world events.
Event 15/6 has a strong positive force. The culmination of Pinnacle 8 in 1985;
8 standing for material gains and position etc.; brought him a new offer from
another country and substantial monetary gains when he resigned his five-
year-old job in 1985. In the First Personal Year of the new Pinnacle in 1986,
he joined his new position with greater respect and material well-being.
He enjoyed the fruits of his good position during the years 1986 to 1988. In
addition to that he was under the influences of letters H=8 and G=7 which
have the common denominator as philosophical thinking under the
constructive fourth Pinnacle 4 from age 48 onwards. No doubt he was given
to meditation and spiritual readings for several hours a day which resulted in
various intuitive experiences in 1987. Note his Temperament 5 on mental
plane, 3 on intuitive plane. He wrote several research papers and one book
on spiritual achievements.
And then from November 2, 1989 the very powerful 16/7 started working on
him. He is at present passing through shaky circumstances and a sort of
abnormality in his relations with others, both in official and domestic circles.
Nevertheless, he has the positive intuitive force of the Maturity Number 3
which is especially effective in the advanced age. This added to the
introspection and spirituality of 7 in 16/7 Event Number makes him continue
strongly with lecturing and writing in the field of spiritual achievements. Note
that he has the outstanding challenge 0, working on him from birth till the end
of life, which indicates development and devotion on philanthropic and
spiritual lines of work. This is the number of impersonal living and in fact he
never had a settled family life, except for small patches of time which is duly
compensated by the spiritual advancement.

IMPORTANT EVENT NUMBER AND LETTERS

The Pinnacle and the Birth Force Period give the general trend of events for
a long time. The happening in a particular year depends on the Event
Number and the Letters which are currently operating on the person, of
course in synchronization with the Pinnacle and Personal Year etc. The
relative effect of the Event Number and the Letters will depend on the
importance of numbers they represent.
The most important effect is produced by the Karmic Events 19/1, 13/4, 14/5
and 16/7. In such a case the effect of the letters behind, whatever they are,
is over-shadowed. The Karmic Number of the Event is conclusive and it
should be studied carefully.
Out of these folk Karmic Periods it is the 16/7 which is most confusing and
full of tension. Nevertheless, as has been seen in many cases, there is a
greater opportunity hidden under the confusing circumstances which is likely
to bring a vital transition in his life. If the person has the desire and the
capability depending on other numbers he can recognize this opportunity,
take advantage of the situation and the, year can prove to be one of great
importance in his life. In the absence of such a possibility, the year or period
may prove to be confusing, unproductive and disappointing. It may even be
difficult to maintain normal relations and partnerships.
Less devastating than 16/7 are the Events 19/1 and 13/4 although their
impact is also very strong. In 19/1 the person is found struggling for freedom
and independence. In 13/4 the person is irritated due to limitation, restrictions
and slow results invite of hard labour. In both cases, patience and analysis
of the situation can lead to some solution and minimize the negative effect.
Event Number 14/5 represents a period full of excitement and many
opportunities. The person may be lost in enjoying the pleasures of life and
sex. The right opportunity is likely to be missed and the result is frustration.
Next in order are the Event Numbers 1, 5, 9, 11 and 22. To the same
category belong the repeated Letters whose numerical value is 1, 5 or 9, i.e.
A, J, S; E, N, W; and I, R.
With relatively lesser importance are the Event Number 4, 6, 8 and the
single Letter A.

All other letters of the alphabet are of secondary importance and they show

IMPORTANT PERSONAL YEARS
In a similar manner we can consider the relative importance of the Personal
Years. It is found that the 1, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 22 Personal Years have a greater
impact on the life of a person causing significant changes. Next in order are
the 4 and 6 Personal Years which have important effects. The 2, 3 and 7
Personal Years have an average influence on the life. The following table
gives the Personal Years in the descending order of importance.
I. 1, 5, 8, 9, 11, 22 Personal Years
II. 4, 6 Personal Years
III. 2, 3, 7 Personal Years.
Whenever a Personal Year and Event Number are coincident there can be
an overbalance of the force in one direction causing hurdles and difficulties.
While, if the two numbers are supporting each other, there is an increase in
the positive force leading to good results.

Sciences

The Personal Year begins on January 1 and ends on December 31 every

year. While the Event Number begins on one birthday and ends on the other.
Hence the common effective period in such cases is either from Birthday to
December 31 or from January 1 to the Birthday.
One should find the common denominator between the two numbers which
is likely to increase the positive force. For example 6 Personal Year with 7
Event Number or Letter G, P or Y is disharmonious. Opposite forces may
result in scattered energies and nothing worthwhile may be done. But there
is a common denominator between 6 and 7 and that is 'spiritual
advancement'.
Similarly, 4 and 8 tend to increase the stubbornness and rigidity of the person
causing problems, nevertheless the common denominator is management
and organization giving positive results. No two numbers are completely
disharmonious—there is always a common denominator leading to positive
results. One should have the ability to recognize and cash in on it.
Conclusion
After preparing the Numerical chart the Numerologist should try to find out
the salient features of the chart with a birds-eye view. There may be double
forces due to repetition of Numbers at Major Positions, special Points of
Intensification and Higher Numbers on Planes of Temperament. This will
give first-hand information about the type of the person and likelihood of
events in his life.
The next step is to look at the Birth Force Periods, Pinnacles, Event Numbers
and the Letters behind them. Major conclusions will be drawn from the Event
Numbers in modification with the letters behind them. The Event Numbers
will express their consciousness according to the Pinnacle through which the
general trend of life is given. And then, how the person reacts to these Event
Numbers will depend upon his type and the forces of Major Numbers to back
him.
For example if the person is passing through the Event Number 16/7, there
is likely to be a confusing situation in his professional life if the Pinnacle is 8,
in his domestic life if the Pinnacle is 6, in partnerships and associations if the
Pinnacle is 2 and so on. And then, he is likely to meet the challenge

synchronization with the Pinnacle, since the Number will show its
consciousness according to the general trend of events shown by the

Thus, in a 4 Personal Year, the month of January indicates a breakthrough
