Assalamu’alaikum Warahhmatullaahi Wabarakatuh.

First of all, thanks to Allah SWT who has given the writer time, health and

blessing so the author is able to finish this paper in time by the title

“Accomodation”.

Sholawat and salam may always be given to prophet Muhammad SAW

who had guided human from stupidity (Jahiliyah) era to the cleaverness era so

human can experience and peace.

The author does not forget to say thank as well to the lecturer of this

subject, he is Mr. Ahmad Munawir, S.Pd., M.Pd who had given this assigment for

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. Background

English for Tourism is a one of subject in the 7 th semester at English

education department. English for Tourism subject provide students with

knowledge of hospitality, travel and tourism terminology and promote the

ability to communicate effectively in English at a customer-facing level in the

hotel, travel and tourism industry.

it will cover knowledge and practical skills regarding hotel

accommodation, travel agents and tour guides. it also provides students with

the knowledge and practice of creating tourism advertisements in the form of

brochures/leaflets/brochures.

All teaching and learning activities are conducted through lectures, small

group discussions, presentations, role plays, and projects.

DISCUSSION

A. Accomodation

1. Definition

Based on Cambridge dictionary, accomodation is a place to stay.

Accommodation is an important element for tourists, apart from the tourist

attraction which is the main destination. Accommodation is the main means

of tourism, because accommodation cannot be compared with the tourism

industry. In general, the definition of accommodation is something provided

to fulfill needs or desires with comfort.

Accommodation in the tourism is anything provided by service

providers for tourism activities, including providing buildings for

accommodation, places to eat, entertainment venues and other facilities that

are managed commercially. The development of tourism businesses is

influenced by the availability of adequate accommodation and transportation

businesses and vice versa.

Other definition said that Accommodation is something provided to

meet needs for example, a place to stay or a place to livewhile for people who

travel. In

accommodation tourism is aindustry, so the meaning of the accommodation

industryis a component of the tourism industry,because accommodation can

be a place or a room where people orvisitors or tourists can restor stay

overnight or sleep, shower, eat anddrinks and enjoy the servicesand

entertainment available.1

2. The Types of Accomodation2

The Types of tourism accommodation refer to two inseparable

components. namely, there is supply and demand. In other words, this shows

that the need for tourism accommodation refers to who serves the needs of

tourists or consumers of tourism services.

There are at least 4 categories or types of tourist accommodation,

including:

a. Service accommodation is accommodation in the form of services

including hotels, apartments and guest houses. Service accommodation,

everything that is mostly related to services falls into this category. Hotels are

an example of service accommodation. Starting from the reservation process,

check-in (guest registration process) to the check-out process (until the guest

has finished their stay). Most of the needs are provided by the hotel, be it

room cleanliness, providing food and drinks, and the ethics of hotel

employees have a big influence on guest comfort during their stay.

b. Self-catering accommodation is accommodation that requires consumers to

prepare their own food, such as camping, caravans, rented flats and

housesSelf-catering accommodation, also known as self-serve, means that all

the guests' needs will be met by the guest. The provider only prepares a place

to stay. Examples include houses for rent, and also camping activities. In this

category, guests incur costs for renting a place and also costs for necessities

while using self-catering accommodation.

c. House of friends and relatives, in this case accommodation does not require

costs because the accommodation has been provided by friends, relatives and

family in the destination area.The definition of house of friends relatives is

the house of friends and relations. This means people using this category of

accommodation do not incur rent or space costs. But the same as the second

category, namely providing for their own needs.

d. Other accommodations include hostels, youth hostels, boats, etc.

The category of other accommodation (other accommodations) is

accommodation whose costs are relatively cheap and its use is mostly used by

young people. The facilities provided in this accommodation category are

usually shared by guests. Such as bathroom, sitting room, drying area,

relaxing room, cooking utensils and kitchen. Examples of this type of

accommodation include hostels and youth hostels.

B. The role of accomodation in tourism

Accomodation has important role in attracting tourist to visit certain

tourism. Some of the major roles of accommodation in tourism include:

1. Lodges : accommodations provide places for travelers to stay on their

journey, providing options from hotels, resorts, to traditional lodges.

2. Tourist experience : the quality of accommodation directly affects the

tourist experience. Facilities, services, and accommodations can leave a

positive or negative impression on a visitor.

3. Local economy : the accommodation industry contributes significantly

to the local economy by creating jobs, increasing tax revenues, and

supporting local businesses such as restaurants, souvenir shops, and

transport.

4. Tourism information center : accommodation often becomes a source

of information for tourists, providing guidelines on local destinations,

attractions, and activities.

5. Promotion of destinations : high-quality accommodations can be a major

attraction that promotes certain tourist destinations, supporting the

marketing efforts of tourism.

6. Sustainability policy : sustainability practices in accommodation

management are key to preserving natural beauty, preserving local culture,

and supporting the development of responsible tourism.

7. Cultural interaction facilitators : accommodations can facilitate cultural

exchanges between tourists and local communities, creating deep and

growing experiences

A. Conclusion

Accommodation in the tourism is anything provided by service providers

for tourism activities, including providing buildings for accommodation, places to

eat, entertainment venues and other facilities that are managed commercially. The

development of tourism businesses is influenced by the availability of adequate

accommodation and transportation businesses and vice versa.

There are spme kinds of accomodation :Service accommodation, Self-

catering accommodation, House of friends and relatives, Other accommodations

include hostels.

Accomodation has important role in attracting tourist to visit certain tourism.

Some of the major roles of accommodation in tourism include:

B. Suggestion

As a human being, this paper is still far from perfectness. Critic and

suggestion is really needed by the author from the reader. The Author suggests for
