UNIT DESCRIPTION/ OBJECTIVES OF THE UNIT


1. The course introduces the learner to the fundamentals of research methods to equip you
to be able to carry out independent research in language.
2. The course enables the learner to identify a topic of research in the field of language
easily.
3. It explores the nature and various research topics.
4. It discusses the research methods that learners can use in data collection.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, the learner should be able to:


1. State the different approaches to literary and linguistic research.
2. Highlight the different sources of research topics.
3. Explain the different components of academic research.
4. Prepare different types of references.
