Overview and *examples
AREA 1 – Management & Coaching

OWNER: * Communicate team concerns with the commissioner * Let the commissioner know your ‘home
court's’ name * Oversee the operations of your club * Supervise the responsibilities of all team members
* Evaluate team practices and performance of coach/guest coach * Meet with commissioner to share
ideas and feedback from players * Provide the team with a positive role model * Ensure smooth day-to-
day functioning of the team * Make sure everybody know what they are supposed to do * Record team's
attendance
CAPTAIN: * Establish and maintain a healthy team bond between the members of your team * Liaise with
coach relative to team and practices * Make on court decisions for the team * Represent team to the
referee during competition * Lead team in award ceremonies * Be an example of fair play * Assist
manager where needed
COACH: * Be fair to all players in your team * Involve all players in practice and game * Make
substitutions during contest * Plan active practices * Design practice content website page and links *
Divide practice content * Assist in planning of teammates’ practices * Seek and listen to the advice of
owner, and commissioner * Discuss the team’s progress with the assistant coach, captain and owner
* Listen to the ideas of players * Develop plays/playbook * Provides individual coaching if needed

AREA 2 – Event management & performance

EVENT PLANNER: * Arrange and schedule the championship day festivities * plan the half-time contests
(with the other event planner) * Make awards and pass them out on championship day (with statistician)
CONDITIONING SPECIALIST/PERFORMANCE COACH * plans and leads team in warm-up at
beginning of practice * helps to team to work on strength and cardio related to basketball * takes the team
through cool-down * leads warm-up before games

AREA 3 - Sports information

WEBMASTER: * create and edit team pages* Obtain team members permission prior to posting any
pictures * uses first names only on pages * Maintain and update the team's website pages * Assist
teammates with web posting * adds team information
MEDIA: * Record highlights of competition (text, photo, audio or video) and post on website
page * conduct interviews * post practice and game reports on page

AREA 4 – Manager & Officiating

MANAGER: * Ensure before game that each player knows who, where and when to play * Get balls and
equipment ready before practice start (maximum 5 per team), organize equipment needed by team
* Check for and remind of appropriate uniforms/colors * Arrange for substitutions of absent players
* Provide water if needed * manages time/clock during practice * clean up equipment * ensure coaches
have necessary equipment *pump balls before or after practice as needed * provide jerseys during
practice
REFEREES: * Set and post league rules * educate teammate on rules * provide whistle * Enforce rules
during the game * Control the game climate * Negotiate with the referee of the opposing team in case of
doubt, and come to an agreement * Report the end score to the commissioner * Meet with other referees
and come up with a point system to keep track of standing and guidelines in case of tie
SCOREKEEPER/STATISTICIAN: * Responsible that score is kept during games * Develop and delegate
the scouting during the game * Fill out the award page at the end of each day after voting within team
* Presentation of awards at the culminating event at the end of the season
