● Comparing two things without using the

ONOMATOPOEIA
● Words that imitate sounds.
● Example:

HYPERBOLE
● A hyperbole is a deliberate exaggeration,
often with the intent of making a point or
stimulating emotions.

ALLITERATION
● The repetition of the same initial consonant
sound of the words.
● Example: Football fever fuels fans.

OXYMORON
● An oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines
contradictory words with opposing meanings

● Example: Act naturally, Alone together,
open secret, clearly confused,

METONYMY
● A thing, object or concept is replaced with
a word closely associated with it.
● Example: The Malacañang Palace declared
that we are at war with Mars.

EUPHEMISM
● A mild word/phrase used to replace one
that is thought to be too harsh.
● Example: She passed away last year.
