EPR Registration Process

EPR stands for Extended Producer's Responsibility. EPR Certificate is mandatory for
Indian Manufacturer / Importer of product for E-waste management. EPR Authorization is
given by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) under MoEFCC, Government of
India. With EPR India authorization, the manufacturer / importer of electronic and
electrical products has been given the responsibility to control E-waste by the products after
expiry of their lifetime.

Objective: Objective of EPR Registration / Certification is to create a streamlined process for


industries and corporates to manage and dispose wastes produced to not pollute the
environment.

EPR Certificate is provided for two categories of waste, namely:

a. E-waste; and
b. Plastic Waste

iii. Details of RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Wastes)

v. Estimation of E-Wastes (self-assessed)
vi. EPR Plan
vii. Website page / content envisaging commitment and promotion to / towards
EPR.
viii. Any other licenses’s copy (if required)

On the basis required documents:

A. EPR Plan: EPR Plan is a three way plan that has to submitted during the
application process:
i. General Scheme of Classification
ii. Channelization of E-waste and its flow chart
iii. Website information

B. Recycler Agreement:
Recycler’s agreement is mandatory to get a EPR registration with all the
information about the recycler, recycle process, cost etc.

As on 25/11/2022 a revised public notice is published by the CPCB E- Waste (Management)


Rules 2016 that has now made single portal for grant of new / renewals of registrations on
the website URL [Link] only.

Process in brief:

 An online account is made by the Stakeholder / Producer / Bulk Producer /


Importer
 Post creating an account, documents are uploaded (given above)
 Application reviewed by CPCB
 CPCB may or may not ask for extra documents (generally from secondary category)
 Application reviewed again
 Grant of Registration.

C. Time taken in obtaining registration:


 Acknowledgement of application : 3-5 days
 Review or demand of additional documents: within 15 days
 Issue of registration / certificate: 45-60 days.

Cost of service (Market): Excluding regulatory Fee:

Plastic Waste: 28,000
