SITE SELECTION
SITE A: BRGY. TUNGASAN, OLANGO ISLAND, LAPU-LAPU CITY, CEBU, PHILIPPINES
Olango Island is a small island in the Philippines, located just off the coast of Mactan
Island in Cebu province. It is known for its beautiful beaches, diverse marine life, and incredible
birdwatching opportunities. Olango Island is the largest island in the Olango Island Group, with
a total area of about 10 square kilometers. As of 2020, Olango Island has a population of about
41,000 people.
The islands are low-lying with elevation reaching no more than 10 metres (33 ft) above
sea level. At the center of these islands is a vast tidal flat, which includes the 920-hectare (2,300-
acre) area of the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. The island is virtually flat, and it is
surrounded by warm seas and partly sheltered from monsoons and strong trade winds.
Olango Island has a tropical climate, with warm temperatures year-round. The rainy
season is from May to October, while the dry season is from November to April. Olango Island
can be reached by taking a ferry from Mactan Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes.
Olango Island is a great place for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and birdwatching. The island is
also home to a number of resorts and restaurants.
The soil conditions in Olango Island, Cebu vary depending on the specific location. This
reddish-colored clay (Bolinao clay) soil is the most common type found on the island. It's
generally thin and porous, underlain by Carcar limestone. The soil's good drainage, thanks to its
limestone base, can be beneficial for certain crops that don't tolerate waterlogging.
SITE B: BRGY. BATA, BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, PHILIPPINES
Bacolod, officially known as the City of Bacolod, is the capital of the province of Negros
Occidental in the Philippines. It's known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious food.
The city is home to many traditional festivals and celebrations, such as the MassKara Festival,
which is held every October. Barangay Bata in Bacolod City is one of the largest barangays in
the city, with a population of over 27,000 people as of 2020. It is situated in the northern part of
Bacolod City, close to the border with Talisay City. It has a land area of approximately 4.1
square kilometers. While Barangay Bata might not be directly in the city center, its location and
connections to main roads make it well-connected to various amenities.
The topography of Barangay Bata, Bacolod City is generally described as plain. It sits at
an average elevation of around 17 meters (55.8 feet) above mean sea level. There are no
significant hills or mountains within the barangay's boundaries. The area is characterized by low-
lying plains suitable for various agricultural activities.

Buenavista is a 4th class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines. It is located
on the northern coast of the island, about 82 kilometers (51 mi) from Tagbilaran, the provincial
capital. It was named Buenavista, which means "beautiful view" in Spanish. As of the 2020
census, Buenavista has a population of 29,711 people. Buenavista is home to a number of
beautiful beaches, including Tambobo Beach, Mahayag Beach, and Cambuhat Beach. The town
is also known for its waterfalls, such as Bilar Man Falls and Dao Falls.
The topography of Poblacion, Buenavista, Bohol falls within the broader landscape of the
municipality itself. Poblacion itself is situated on relatively flat land, bordering the coast within
the barangay's western boundary. Due to its coastal location, Poblacion experiences a gently
sloping terrain from east to west, gradually descending towards the sea.
Buenavista has a tropical rainforest climate, classified as Af according to the Köppen
climate classification. This means it has warm temperatures year-round with no true dry season.
The average high temperature throughout the year is around 29°C (84°F). The average low
temperature is around 24°C (75°F). The hottest months are April to May, with average high
temperatures reaching 31°C (88°F). The coolest months are December to February, with average
low temperatures dropping to 23°C (73°F).
The municipality of Buenavista falls within a diverse range of soil types. The Soil Map of
Bohol provided by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) indicates several
types present within Buenavista, including: clay, clay loam, sandy loam and undifferentiated
mountain soil.
