Authenticity of Hadith

َ ‫ني إِذْ َب َع‬
3:164 - ٍ‫ض َال ٍل ُّم ِبني‬ َ ‫ح ْك َم َة َو إِن َكانُوا ِمن َقبْ ُل َل ِفي‬ ِ ‫َوا ْل‬

Deductive argument:

The conditions pertaining to the text of Khabar Wahid are


– The text of the hadith should be supported by evidence from the Quran and other
ahadit
– The text of the hadith should be supported by actual fact

• Sahih (Authentic): A hadith which perfectly ful lls the criteria of evaluation regarding the chain
of narration and the text.

• Hassan (Good): A hadith which ful lls the criteria like Sahih Hadith BUT there is one narrator
in the chain of narration who does not have good memory.

• Za’eef (Weak): A hadith which has a broken chain of narration OR there is one narrator in the
chain of narration who has committed mistakes.

• Mawzu (Fabricated): A saying which is wrongly attributed to the Prophet (S.A.W)
