ANNEXURE - 2
1 : Rationale :
Interfacing memory and I/O devices to the 8051 microcontroller is
essential for designing embedded systems. Memory devices such as
RAM and ROM are used to store data and program code, while I/O
devices such as sensors, actuators, and displays are used to interact with
the external environment. The 8051 microcontroller has limited internal
memory and I/O ports, which is not sufficient for most applications.
Therefore, external memory and I/O devices need to be interfaced with
the microcontroller to expand its capabilities.
Memory Interfacing:
The 8051 microcontroller has an internal memory of 128 bytes, which is
not sufficient for most applications. External memory devices such as
RAM and ROM need to be interfaced with the microcontroller to store
data and program code. By interfacing external memory devices, the
microcontroller can handle larger data sets and program codes.
2 : Aim Of The Micro-Project :
Prepare A Report Of Various Features And Operations Of Temperature
Sensors Using Data Sheets

3 : Course Outcome Achieved :

a: Interface The Memory And I/0 Devices To 8051 Microcontroller

4 : Literature Review :
Memory Interfacing:
The 8051 microcontroller has an internal memory of 128 bytes, which is
not sufficient for most applications. Therefore, external memory devices
such as RAM and ROM need to be interfaced with the microcontroller to
store data and program code.
The memory interfacing can be done using the following steps:

Select the appropriate memory device based on the application

requirements.
Connect the data and address lines of the memory device to the
corresponding ports of the microcontroller.
Configure the control signals such as read/write, chip select, and output
enable signals to control the memory device.
Write a program to access the memory device using the appropriate
memory addressing modes.
I/O Interfacing:
I/O devices such as sensors, actuators, and displays are essential
components of embedded systems. Interfacing these devices with the
8051 microcontroller involves the following steps:
Select the appropriate I/O device based on the application requirements.
Connect the I/O device to the corresponding ports of the microcontroller.
Configure the control signals such as input/output mode, pull-up/pull-
down resistors, and interrupt signals to control the I/O device.
Write a program to read data from or write data to the I/O device using
the appropriate I/O addressing modes.
Interrupts Handling:
The 8051 microcontroller has five interrupt sources, which can be used
to handle external events such as I/O device inputs, timers, and serial
communication. The interrupts handling can be done using the following
steps:
Enable the interrupts using the appropriate interrupt enable register.
Write an interrupt service routine (ISR) to handle the interrupt event.
Configure the priority of the interrupts using the priority control register.

5 : Actual Methodology Followed :

We started our Micro Project with distributing works among the
Group members ,All members started to collect Data/Information of
8051 Microcontroller .We all Cross checked all the data/information
collected from Different sites and Conclude to make a Report and a
power point presentation on it.
