Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM

Introduction Organizational productivity and performance of employees is one of the basis of an

organization to see if their business is succeeding or not by the help of the employees. As it is one of the

best foundations that every business needs to have since employees are one of the most important assets

that an organization has.

As mentioned by Abdullahi, Raman, and Solarin (2021, p. 232), employees are seen as part of an

organization that is involved in the organization’s day-to-day actions to ensure that the organization

continues to survive or exist. And in order to get the overall success of a company or business, the

organization needs to have an employee that is able to get the job done. An employee who is seen to

have a great productivity and performance when it comes to the organization. For so we know employee

performance and productivity determines the value of the employee to the company.

According to Ngwa, Adeleke, Agbaeze, Ghasi, and Imhanrenailena, (2018, p.3) the performance

of every employee is a major concern to the human resource department. Employees are sometimes

hesitant to give their all on the job, regardless of their qualifications or length of service. Some people

who show a high level of performance at the start of their careers begin to decline when they are

expected to use their experience and perform even better. Many people only work within the parameters

of their job descriptions and are uninterested in contributing to the organization’s goals. To ensure

success, managers must develop strategies to improve employee performance. Business managers must

consider employee management with a strategic approach to achieve organizational goals (Bajwa,

Yousaf, & Rizwan, 2014).

There are various strategies to do so such as motivating the employees through recognition and

reward, by this they can be more engaged and show higher interest at work which may lead to an

increased productivity and better performance. Employee motivation will improve, as will their

accomplishments and organizational performance if their empowerment and recognition are increased

(Dobre, 2013; Mohammed, 2017, p. 82). Another is promoting a positive work environment in which

employees can feel the lightness at work through treating them with utmost respect and fairness.

Considering their concerns and building good and healthy relationships with them. This can be a means

of a strong foundation of a good working environment which may be another way of improving the

productivity and performance of employees.

This study aimed to know why it is essential to enhance the organizational productivity and

performance of employees at fast food chains. The study will further explore the factors or strategies that

can help at enhancing the performance of the employees and their productivity. Knowing the aims of

this study can be a great help for business organizations to keep their business on track. To make their

business grow and more successful through the employees that became their asset to reach that point.
